Mixmag is a British electronic dance and clubbing magazine, published in London, England. Launched in 1982, the magazine covers dance events, and reviews music and club nights.
The first issue was printed on 1 February 1983 as a 16-page black-and-white magazine published by Disco Mix Club, a DJ mailout service. The first cover featured American music group Shalamar.
When house music began, editor and DJ Dave Seaman turned the magazine from a newsletter for DJs to a magazine covering all dance music and club culture. Mixmag, in association with its original publishing company, DMC Publishing, released a series of CDs under the "Mixmag Live" heading.
The magazine, which reached a circulation of up to 70,000 copies during the height of the popularity of acid house, was later sold to EMAP Ltd. in the mid-1990s, and then bought by Development Hell, the company that also owned The Word music magazine, in 2005. In 2007, Nick DeCosemo became editor.
In 2001, the magazine teamed up with Virgin Records to release a double album titled B!g Tunes.
Coors Light is a 4.2% ABV light beer brewed in Golden, Colorado and Milwaukee, Wisconsin. It was first produced in 1978 by the Coors Brewing Company.
The beer has a "Cold Certified" label which turns the mountains on the label from white to blue when the beer's temperature is lowered to 4 degrees Celsius (39 degrees Fahrenheit). Coors Light has a "mountain icon" to represent the beer in place of the logo. The icon is a stylized drawing of a mountain with two peaks. The bottom has a tail that signifies movement.
Adolph Coors was born in 1847 in a German town known today as Wuppertal-Oberbarmen. At the age of 14 he began working at the Henry Wenker Brewery in Dortmund,. Adolph Coors considered that water was the key ingredient for a perfect beer. Therefore, he decided to locate Adolph Coors Company in Golden, Colorado in 1873. The Rocky Mountains are the primary source of the water used in the beer.
There were a number of trends occurring in the mid-1970s. Health was one of the most discussed topics in the American population. The baby-boomer generation was reaching their drinking age, and therefore they gave the beer drinking demographic a shift. They were concerned about their health, but they also wanted to drink beer. There was a growing interest in low-calorie beverages. In 1975, light beers made up only 1% of beer consumption in the USA, and by 1994, they accounted for 35% of all domestic beer sold in the USA. In 1978, Coors introduced the popular Coors Light brand.
Sound Collective is a London-based professional music ensemble.
Sound Collective was formed in 2003 and is a home for classical musicians, hand-picked from the British orchestral, chamber and freelance scene.
Sometimes meeting as a chamber orchestra with conductor, but also formed as smaller chamber ensembles, they meet just a few times each year to create bespoke performance and education projects.
The guiding principles behind the group are excellence in performance through adequate rehearsal time, intelligent programming, a democratic ethos in both choice of repertoire and rehearsal approach, and a commitment to communication with their audiences.
