The Rolex Oyster Perpetual Day-Date is a COSC certified, self-winding chronometer manufactured by Rolex. Initially presented in 1956, the Day-Date was the first watch to display the date, as well as the day, in its entirety. The Day-Date is one of Rolex's watches that is exclusively offered only in solid 18k yellow gold, 18k white gold, 18k rose gold and platinum. Additionally Rolex manufactures a specific bracelet only available for the Day-Date line, the President bracelet.
Rolex SA and its subsidiary Montres Tudor SA design, manufacture, distribute and service wristwatches sold under the Rolex and Tudor brands. Founded by Alfred Davis and Hans Wilsdorf in London, England in 1905 as Wilsdorf and Davis, Rolex moved its base of operations to Geneva, Switzerland in 1919.
Forbes ranked Rolex No.72 on its 2014 list of the world's most powerful global brands. Rolex is the largest single luxury watch brand, producing about 2,000 watches per day, with estimated 2012 revenues of US$7.7 billion.
The company is owned by the Hans Wilsdorf Foundation, a family private trust which does not pay corporate tax.
Alfred Davis and his brother-in-law Hans Wilsdorf founded Wilsdorf and Davis, the company that would eventually become Rolex SA, in London, England in 1905. Wilsdorf and Davis' main commercial activity at the time involved importing Hermann Aegler's Swiss movements to England and placing them in high-quality watch cases made by Dennison and others. These early wristwatches were sold to jewellers, who then put their own names on the dial. The earliest watches from Wilsdorf and Davis were usually hallmarked "W&D" inside the caseback.
The 40 mm grenade is a military grenade caliber for grenade launchers in service with many armed forces. There are two main types in service: the 40×46mm, which is a low-velocity round used in hand-held grenade launchers; and the high-velocity 40×53mm, used in mounted and crew-served weapons. The cartridges are not interchangeable. Both 40 mm cartridges use what the US Army during the Vietnam War called the High-Low Propulsion System.
The less powerful 40×46mm is used in hand-held weapons such as the M79, M203, the M320 grenade launcher, and the multi-shot M32 MGL or Zakłady Mechaniczne "Tarnów" SA RGP-40.
The more powerful 40×53mm is used in automatic grenade launchers mounted on tripods, vehicles or helicopters, such as the Mk 19 grenade launcher, the Mk 47 "Striker" 40 mm Grenade Machine Guns (GMGs), the Heckler & Koch GMG or the South African Vektor Y3 AGL. In these roles, the rounds are linked together with a metallic disintegrating link.
A new 40×51mm cartridge recently (2007) developed in South Africa provides a more powerful alternative for hand-held weapons without increased recoil. A new version of the Milkor MGL chambered for the new round remains backward compatible with existing 40×46mm rounds.
Day and Date (also titled Day & Date) was a daily hour-long syndicated program in the 1990s. It was syndicated by Group W Productions (which would change its name to Eyemark Entertainment following the merger of Group W with the CBS television network) in 1996. It was hosted by Dana King and Patrick Vanhorn. The program was intended as a lead-in to local early news programs.
It debuted on September 11, 1995 for the start of the 1995 television season. It was picked up by a variety of stations, some of which had just switched to CBS following deals that had taken effect earlier in 1995 (or, in some cases, the day before) resulting from the U.S. television network affiliate switches of 1994. Segments combined news, talk, and entertainment issues. Toward the end of its run, Gordon Elliott joined as an occasional correspondent. Its second season premiered on 9 September 1996 on 87 stations serving 74 percent of the country, but low ratings (a 1.6 for the second season) spurred Eyemark to cancel Day and Date effective January 3, 1997.

In today's WWT (Wrist Watch Talk) episode I take a look at an amazingly stunning Tissot from 1942 with a hefty price tag of a staggering 35k. Not only is it a pristine example of the heyday of Tissot but it answers a few interesting questions behind the inspiration of my own limited edition Tissot Janeiro Z199. Then I go on discuss and help a loyal supporter of the channel who is considering a yellow gold Rolex Day-Date 118238 luxury watch to commemorate his up and coming 35th birthday. He is dead set on buying a new Day-Date but is concerned if it too much of a predictable loud choice in solid yellow gold. I offer my opinion and ask the audience if the iconic watch is played out or still uber cool? For more information and to get your horological questions answered, join our community o...

****The watch featured in the wrist watch check was a Timex not a Tissot, sorry for the mistake. I have Tissot on the brain after their stunning latest release at Baselworld. *** The watch world is very divided. There are watch snobs of all kinds. From those who have allegiance to just one brand or genre, to those who look down on anything below a certain price range. There are even some who view anything high end as simply a waste of money. Then there are some who only like contemporary 21st century tech and view anything non "smart" as pointless or dated. However, there is one thing that unites all true watch lovers and horology fans of all persuasions, so today I destroy a Rolex Day-date with a hammer to prove my point. For more information and to get your horological questions answer...

http://www.crmjewelers.com - Rolex Day-Date 40 mm Review – vs Day-Date 36-mm and Day-Date II 41-mm The Rolex Day-Date 40 mm President was introduced by the company in Baselworld in 2015. But why has the release of this watch caused so much controversy? In this video review, I will discuss the new Day-Date 40 model and compare it to its predecessors, the more traditional 36 millimeter Day-Date and the larger 41-mm Day-Date II. To start off, I have always been a fan of the Day-Date II, the 41 millimeter high-end Presidential watch of the Rolex brand, which was introduced in 2008 as a much larger and more contemporary version of their 36 mm Day-Date President (at one time Rolex's most prestigious gentleman's model). Since its launch, the 41 mm has always been my favorite. In fact, I have ...
