English grammar is the structure of expressions in the English language. This includes the structure of words, phrases, clauses and sentences.
There are historical, social, cultural and regional variations of English. Divergences from the grammar described here occur in some dialects of English. This article describes a generalized present-day Standard English, the form of speech found in types of public discourse including broadcasting, education, entertainment, government, and news reporting, including both formal and informal speech. There are certain differences in grammar between the standard forms of British English, American English and Australian English, although these are inconspicuous compared with the lexical and pronunciation differences.
Eight types of word ("word classes" or "parts of speech") are distinguished in English: nouns, determiners, pronouns, verbs, adjectives, adverbs, prepositions, and conjunctions. (Determiners, traditionally classified along with adjectives, have not always been regarded as a separate part of speech.) Interjections are another word class, but these are not described here as they do not form part of the clause and sentence structure of the language.

Lyrics: There are worse things I could do, Than go with a boy or two. Even though the neighborhood thinks I'm trashy, And no good, I suppose it could be true, But there are worse things I could do. I could flirt with all the guys, Smile at them and bat my eyes. Press against them when we dance, Make them think they stand a chance, Then refuse to see it through. That's a thing I'd never do. I could stay home every night, Wait around for Mr. Right. Take cold showers every day, And throw my life away, On a dream that won't come true. I could hurt someone like me, Out of spite or jealousy. I dont steal and I dont lie, But I can feel and I can cry. A fact I'll bet you never knew. But to cry in front of you, That's the worse thing I could do.

El verbo impersonal hay,de haber, se traduce al inglés en 2 formas: there is - con un sustantivo en singular, y there are - con un sustantivo en plural. Claro que en español 'hay' no cambia, no importa si el sustantivo es singular o plural, pero en ingles, sí. There is a book. Book está en singular, entonces se usa 'is'. There are books. books es plural - se usa 'are'. Cuando decimos there is y there are, no estamos diciendo 'ahí está' o 'ahí están'. Solo expresa existencia, igual he 'hay'. Para formar una pregunta cambiamos el orden. there is, is there? there are, are there? En inglés se tiende a utilizar los adjetivos some y any. There are some books. There is some water. Nota que usamos 'is' cuando hablamos de algo que no se puede contar, como agua o leche. Al formar una pregunta, má...
