In computer engineering, an execution unit (also called a functional unit) is a part of the central processing unit (CPU) that performs the operations and calculations as instructed by the computer program. It may have its own internal control sequence unit, which is not to be confused with the CPU's main control unit, some registers, and other internal units such as an arithmetic logic unit (ALU) or a floating-point unit (FPU), or some smaller and more specific components.
It is common for modern CPUs to have multiple parallel execution units, referred to as superscalar designs. The simplest arrangement is to use one, the bus manager, to manage the memory interface, and the others to perform calculations. Additionally, modern CPUs' execution units are usually pipelined.

It is a refresher session about all that the students have already learned in class 9 and will help them understand the several aspects of Biology which specially constitute the Class 10 syllabus. It covers the following topics: What is a Cell? – A Basic Introduction Single Celled & Multi Celled Organisms Cell: Size & Shape Animal Cell & Plant Cell Structure of a Cell: Essential Parts Structure of a Cell: Organelles Parts of a Cell: Characteristics & Functions Microscopic Examination of an Onion Peel Nucleus: Key to the life of a Cell

CELL All living forms are composed of microscopic units called as “Cells”. A cell is the basic structural and functional unit of all life forms. Study of structure and composition of cell is called as “Cytology”. Cell was first observed by “Robert Hooke” in a dead cork slice in the year 1665. He described about this in his book “Micrographic”. The word cell was derived from a Greek word “Cellulae” which means small room. First living cell was discovered by A.V. Leeuwenhoek. The term protoplasm was coined by purkinje in 1839. Protoplasm was discovered by “Felix Dujardin” and named as sarcode. Its consistency differs under different condition. It exists in sol-gel states. Protoplasm is an aggregate of various chemicals such as water, ions, salts and other organic molecules like proteins, ...

Talks about Database Continuous Integration, Unit Test, Functional Test, Database Test Standards and Best Practices.
Object-oriented architects and developers have, over the years, learned many hard lessons about successfully designing systems with object-oriented programming. This has led to a plethora of ‘best practices’ that are painfully passed on from older to younger generations via books, lectures, consulting, blog posts, etc. Many of these ‘best practices’ must be explicitly taught, because they don’t evolve naturally from object-oriented programming. Surprisingly, many of these hard-won ‘best practices’ fall naturally into place when applying functional programming. Instead of deliberate design, functional programming forms pits of success where you naturally fall into the same ‘best practices’ that you have to deliberately work for in object-oriented programming. In this session, you’ll learn a...
Statically typed functional programming languages encourage a very different way of thinking about types. The type system is your friend, not an annoyance, and can be used in many ways that might not be familiar to OO programmers. Types can be used to represent the domain in a fine-grained, self documenting way. And in many cases, types can even be used to encode business rules so that you literally cannot create incorrect code. You can then use the static type checking almost as an instant unit test — making sure that your code is correct at compile time. In this talk, we'll look at some of the ways you can use types as part of a domain driven design process, with some simple real world examples in F#. No jargon, no maths, and no prior F# experience necessary.

Pure functional programming is helping developers developing more robust and simpler programs, but it also helps them testing the behaviour of their application in a more predictable way. There are many different approaches to testing and verification of code, and we're constantly reconsidering the best approach to make our code solid, by leveraging concepts like referential transparency and purity to help us avoiding bugs. We explore the meaning of testing, by starting from the simple unit test, moving on to the property based testing and encoding our program invariants in types, with an introduction of some advanced type system concepts such as dependent types.

The liver is the largest solid organ in the body with only the skin having a greater total mass. In men it normally weighs 1.4-1.8 kg and 1.2-1.4 kg in women. The liver is involved in many of the biochemical processes which are necessary within the body. This is why the liver is sometimes referred to as the ‘chemical factory’ of the body. It is accurate to classify the liver as an exocrine gland as it produces approximately 500 mls of bile per day. This bile is secreted from the liver via the right and left hepatic ducts which merge to form the common hepatic duct. The cystic duct transports bile from the common hepatic duct into the gallbladder where it is stored and concentrated. The same cystic duct carries bile out of the gallbladder into the common bile duct. The pancreatic duct merge...
Life-cycle assessment (LCA) is a systematic framework for estimating the environmental emissions and impacts associated with a product, process, or system. LCA is an iterative process that consists of four primary stages: (1) Goal and Scope Definition, (2) Life-Cycle Inventory (LCI), (3) Life-Cycle Impact Assessment (LCIA), and (4) Interpretation and Improvement. The Goal and Scope Definition stage defines the purpose of the LCA, the product or system to be assessed (i.e., a functional unit), and the environmental emissions and impacts to be considered. The LCI calculates all of the input and output flows of mass and energy for each process in the system, and the LCIA characterizes the environmental impacts associated with the emissions and mass flows calculated in the LCI (e.g., global wa...
We all know that functional programming makes for more testable, more reliable code. But even if we adopt insert your favourite functional language here on the server-side, and your choice of something sane that compiles to JavaScript on the client-side, the integration and testing story for a bog-standard full-stack CRUD app is, well, woeful. So OK, we’re all here at Lambda Jam patting ourselves on our puritanically stateless backs about how referentially transparent we are, but how does that help us if every time we have to put together something with a user interface we end up straight back in the spaghetti mess slowly losing our sanity to “undefined is not a function”? For my side project, my language of choice for the server-side is Clojure, and my choice for the “something sane that...
Frontiers of Biomedical Engineering (BENG 100) Professor Saltzman introduces the basic concepts of renal physiology. Professor Saltzman first introduces the function and anatomy of the kidney. Special attention is given to the cell types and structural aspect of the nephron, the functional unit of the kidney. Filtration, secretion of toxic waste, and reabsorption of water, ions, and nutrients through the glomerulus and various segments of the nephrons is discussed in detail. Finally, Professor Saltzman describes glomerular filtration rate as a function of pressure drop, which is regulated by afferent and efferent arterioles, to control how much volume being filtered through glomerulus. 00:00 - Chapter 1. Introduction to Renal Physiology 04:53 - Chapter 2. Structure and Function of K...
