Tuam (/ˈtjuːəm/ TEW-əm), Irish: Tuaim ([t̪ˠuəmʲ]), is the second largest settlement in County Galway, Ireland. It is situated west of the midlands of Ireland, and north of Galway city. Human existence in the area dates to the Bronze Age while the historic period dates from the 6th century. The town became increasingly important in the 11th and 12th centuries in political and religious aspects of Ireland. The market based layout of the town and square indicates the importance of commerce.
The record of human settlement in Tuam dates back to the Bronze Age when an area adjacent to Shop Street was used as a burial ground. The name Tuam is a cognate with the Latin term tumulus (burial mound). The town's ancient name was Tuaim Dá Ghualann, i.e. the burial mound of two shoulders.
The name probably refers to the high ground on either side of the River Nanny, overlooking a probable fording point over the River Nanny (or Corchra). In 1875, a Bronze Age burial urn was discovered in the area by workmen, dating from c.1500 B.C. An early glass photograph still exists.

The Bon Secours Mother and Baby Home, St Mary's Mother and Baby Home, or simply The Home, was a maternity home for unmarried mothers and their children that operated between 1925 and 1961 in Tuam, County Galway, Ireland. It gained notoriety due to allegations in 2014 of the apparent burial of up to 800 children's bodies in a mass grave on the site, and the high death rates of its residents. This is now the subject of a judicial inquiry.
The Home was run by the Bon Secours Sisters, a Catholic religious order of nuns. Unwed pregnant women were sent to the Home to give birth. Some of the poorer women were afterwards forced to work without pay, in reimbursement for some of the services rendered. They were separated from their children, who remained separately in the Home, raised by nuns, until they could be adopted - often without consent.
In 1975, two local boys had found a chamber filled with children's skeletons on the site. Some local people speculated it was a grave for Great Famine victims or unbaptised babies. In 2012, local historian Catherine Corless published an article documenting the deaths of 796 babies and toddlers at the Home during its decades of operation, primarily from infectious diseases and marasmus-related malnutrition. Her research led her to conclude that almost all had been buried in an unmarked and unregistered mass grave at the Home, some of them in a septic tank. Some sources questioned whether the bones found in 1975 were from the Bon Secours Home or from one of the previous institutions which had occupied the same building, as well as whether or not the structure Corless speculated was a mass grave was a disused septic tank or a 19th-century burial vault.
The Late Show may refer to:
The Late Late Show, with its title often shortened to The Late Late, is an Irish chat show. It is the world's second longest-running chat show, after the American The Tonight Show. Perceived as the official flagship television programme of Ireland's public service broadcaster Raidió Teilifís Éireann (RTÉ), it is regarded as an Irish television institution (even abroad) and is broadcast live across two hours plus in front of a studio audience on Friday nights between September and May at 21.30.
Having maintained the same name and format continuously, The Late Late Show was first broadcast on Friday, 6 July 1962 at 23.20 and in colour from 1976. Originating as temporary summer filler for a niche Saturday night audience (airing at 23.30), it later moved to its current home on Friday night schedules. The format has remained largely the same throughout—dialogue, comic sketches, musical performances, discourse on topical issues. It has influenced attitudes of the populace towards approval or disapproval of its chosen topics, directed social change and helped shape Irish societal norms. It averages 650,000 viewers per episode and has consistently achieved RTÉ's highest ratings.
There has been much coverage in recent weeks about the Mother & Babies home in Tuam. Local historian Catherine Corless discovered almost 800 childeren died in the home between 1925 en 1961, a staggering 35% of all the childeren who lived there. Her revelations have triggered a much needed debate about one of the darkest apsects of the history of the young Irish republic: the treatmet of unmarried mothers and their so-called 'illegitimate' childeren. In tyhis interview Corless explains step by step how she came to her conclusions.
Catherine Corless says she is not shocked by the confirmation today that a large number of children’s bodies have been found at the former mother and baby home in Tuam, Co Galway. The only thing she is surprised about is how the news is already out in the open. “So many things get covered up these days, I am just so thankful that this has come out,” she told TheJournal.ie this afternoon. “I think I half expected that it would be toned down or covered up in some way.” At a hastily-convened press conference this morning, Minister for Children Katherine Zappone confirmed that a ‘significant’ number of human remains have been discovered at the site of the former Bon Secours home in Tuam. A forensic analysis of some of the remains has found that they were children, ranging from tiny babies to...
The Commission of Investigation into Mother and Baby Homes has discovered a significant number of human remains in what appears to be a decommissioned sewage chamber in Tuam. The Commission has completed two test excavations of the Galway site and today confirmed that “significant quantities of human remains have been discovered” in a structure which appears to be “related to the treatment/containment of sewerage and/or wastewater”. The structure where the remains were found is long and divided into 20 chambers. The Commission is not yet clear if it was ever used for sewerage or wastewater. There were remains found in at least 17 of the 20 chambers. A small number of the remains were recovered for testing. A scientific analysis has put the ages of the deceased at between 35 foetal weeks...

I sat outside your house today
Just thinkin' you'll never learn
It's like the time I packed your things
And dropped 'em off where you were
I know you love to wash your car
So I left it in the lake
They say the strongest part of love is called hate
(Do you feel like I should)
Sit around with your touch
And your smell on my couch
And your hair in my brush
I loved you too much
(Do you think that I should)
Move along, change my phone
Get it on, I'll be gone
Treat him wrong 'til the day
That someone loves me the same way
How am I supposed to feel?
What exactly should I do?
I know you're no good for me
Yet and still I'm lovin' you
I'm must cite these lonely nights
Beggin' you to do me right
This time I just don't know
Heart says stay, mind says go
I knew I heard it in your voice
Something was wrong with our date
I feel I didn't have the choice
My heart was not in the way
Found out that I'm up in the cut
Some chick was wearing my face
You're lucky I'm in a good mood
Or she'll lay
Do you know how it feels
Sittin' 'round, smellin' sheets
Feelin' down, watchin' Heat
But my friends where you been
I'm with her again
Do you think that it's cool
To rock the fool in my house
I put you out, you come back in
We fight again, nobody wins
And baby, you should know that this is it
How am I supposed to feel?
What exactly should I do?
I know you're no good for me
Yet and still I'm lovin' you
I'm must cite these lonely nights
Beggin' you to do me right
This time I just don't know
Heart says stay, mind says go
How am I supposed to feel?
What exactly should I do?
I know you're no good for me
Yet and still I'm lovin' you
I'm must cite these lonely nights
Beggin' you to do me right
This time I just don't know
Heart says stay, mind says go
Oh oh oh oh
Hey, ooh, yeah
Ooh ooh, ooh ooh
Sometimes you can't let go
Even when your heart says so
I have to let you see
Your love will never be
?? with me you see
Can't let you, just don't need
I tried to love you still
I now know how it feels
How am I supposed to feel?
What exactly should I do?
I know you're no good for me
Yet and still I'm lovin' you
I'm must cite these lonely nights
Beggin' you to do me right
This time I just don't know
Heart says stay, mind says go
How am I supposed to feel?
What exactly should I do?
I know you're no good for me
Yet and still I'm lovin' you
I'm must cite these lonely nights
Beggin' you to do me right
This time I just don't know
Heart says stay, mind says go
How am I supposed to feel?
(It says go, go, go)
I know you're no good for me)
(Go go, go go)
I must cite these lonely nights
(Beggin' you to do me right)
This time I just don't know
Heart says stay, mind says go
How am I supposed to feel?
What exactly should I do?
I know you're no good for me
Yet and still I'm lovin' you
