Spaceflight (also written space flight) is ballistic flight into or through outer space. Spaceflight can occur with spacecraft with or without humans on board. Examples of human spaceflight include the U.S. Apollo Moon landing and Space Shuttle programs and the Russian Soyuz program, as well as the ongoing International Space Station. Examples of unmanned spaceflight include space probes that leave Earth orbit, as well as satellites in orbit around Earth, such as communications satellites. These operate either by telerobotic control or are fully autonomous.
Spaceflight is used in space exploration, and also in commercial activities like space tourism and satellite telecommunications. Additional non-commercial uses of spaceflight include space observatories, reconnaissance satellites and other Earth observation satellites.
A spaceflight typically begins with a rocket launch, which provides the initial thrust to overcome the force of gravity and propels the spacecraft from the surface of the Earth. Once in space, the motion of a spacecraft—both when unpropelled and when under propulsion—is covered by the area of study called astrodynamics. Some spacecraft remain in space indefinitely, some disintegrate during atmospheric reentry, and others reach a planetary or lunar surface for landing or impact.

Learn more: http://tinyurl.com/fly-to-edge-of-space This outside mounted camera filmed the whole flight. Unfortunately that day was in early fall and rather warm, more than 15° C. So the jet couldn't climb that high as it usually does, 20km. Remember, Edge of Space flights are best in winter when the air is cold. 2016 was quite a year in Spaceflight, with 86 orbital launches, down one from last year, including 5 manned missions. SpaceX achieved what was thought to be the impossible by landing a first stage Falcon 9 on a floating barge at Sea. Orbital ATK brought Antares back to flight after the explosion in 2014. Unfortunately not all went well for 2016, SpaceX had a launch pad explosion destroying their rocket and AMOS-6 satellite for AMOS putting an end their launches for the year. In December we lost astronauts, hero and first American to orbit Earth John Glenn. And British astronaut Piers Sellers who lost his battle with cancer after flying the Space Shuttle three times.
This film chronicles Freedom 7 (Mercury-Redstone 3, MR-3) ... the first manned spaceflight by the USA that occurred on May 5, 1961 with Alan Shepard as the astronaut. The Mercury project was to determine man's capabilities in a space environment and in those environments to which he would be subject upon going into and returning from space. A few of the basic flight problems included... The development of an automatic escape system, vehicle control during insertion, behavior of space systems, evaluation of pilots capabilities in space, in flight monitoring, retrofire and reentry maneuvers and landing and recovery. Learn more: http://tinyurl.com/fly-to-edge-of-space The MiGFlug Edge of Space flight in the MiG-29 is probably the top adventure currently available worldwide - it's nuts! Up to 20km 65,000ft altitude, insane aerobatics with G-Forces over 9g, and a top speed of Mach 2. It is the only possibility to break to sound barrier for Civilians, worldwide. There is no possibility to reach a higher speed than that. In fact, it is twice as fast as the next possibility for non military pilots. And - you can control the MiG-29 up there, even if you are not a pilot! But how does the Edge of Space flight day look like? The Edge of Space flight program is as follows: The day starts usually at 09:00 - when you are picked up from your hotel by your charming interpreter and your personal driver. The limousi...

Orbiter is a free spaceflight simulator, it's got much more detail on the actual flying and vehicles than KSP, but lacks the building and real time rigid body physics that provide so much entertainment in KSP. But if you want to experience real spacecraft then it's probably a better choice Orbiter is developed by Martin Schweiger and can be downloaded for free from http://orbit.medphys.ucl.ac.uk/ The Vostok Plugin I use is by Igel it supports all of the Vostok missions - including the ones with animals as passengers. http://www.orbithangar.com/searchid.php?ID=6318 Videos featured in the credits: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6ogimwkItds https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qrnp-y8mnFg
Learn more about the Edge of Space Flight: http://tinyurl.com/fly-to-edge-of-space The famous MiGFlug MiG-29 Edge of Space flight (also known as Stratosphere or high altitude flight) makes the news regularly as it probably is the craziest and most surprising adventure available, worldwide. The Edge of Space Flight - or Stratosphere Flight - has several unique characteristics that can't be experienced elsewhere: - It's the only possibility for everyone to break the sound barrier - supersonic flying with a top speed up to MACH 1.9 - Altitude up to 20km/65,000ft altitude - Insane aerobatics with G-Forces up to over 9g - The only possibility to fly a modern 4th generation fighter jet - MiGFlug customers can control the MiG-29 You will reach twice the altitude and speed of a commercial airlin...
