Let’s face it; we’ve all had some kind of childhood trauma. Whether it’s an ass-kickin’ for a bad report card, a dead pet, bullies, alcoholic parent(s), a perverted uncle, and list goes on and on in this sick and twisted thing we call life. Well, what if we could take all of those repressed emotions caused by life’s stressors and turn them into a group of minions that react to your capricious rage? Oh, and by the way, these minions start as little bumps on your skin and eventually develop into fetuses on the outside of your body. Welcome to the world of David Cronenberg and his 1979 sci-fi horror film, The Brood. This name should conjure up some classic macabre images, and if it doesn’t, just check his résumé: Shivers, Rabid, Scanners, Videodrome, The Dead Zone, The Fly (1986), and eXistenZ. And those are just his stabs at the horror genre. Cronenberg has always used his horror films to explore the human body and The Brood (his second film) is an early example of this.

DeepStar Six

Deep Star 6 (1)

In the middle of the ocean, thousands of feet beneath the surface of the water, a navy outpost is 2 months behind schedule.  The mission a matter of national security – installing defense missiles on the ocean floor to thwart an attack from outside our country.  While scouting the location and prepping the the installation, underwater caverns are found that could be another untold thousands of feet deep.  When the head scientist gets a hard on for getting the payload installed by the end of the week, safety and scientific study get thrown out the window in ’s DeepStar Six. Screamers

Screamers  - Title Card

War.  War never changes.  And neither does introducing a new brand of killer into that war, the likes of which few have ever seen.  In the ongoing war between the Alliance and the NEB on planet Sirius 6B, self replicating, buzzsaw wielding robots who burrow underground were brought in to help sway the conflict to the Alliance’s favor.  They were able to keep them at bay by wearing secret decoder bracelets that identify them as Alliance members.  Remove that bracelet, and you’re gonna be able to scratch your own balls with the back of your head once it falls off into your lap.
