Market segmentation is a commonly utilized concept in business where a larger market of consumers is divided into smaller groups of consumers who share certain characteristics. The goal is to generate what is known as a target market, which is an identifiable group of consumers who behave in a similar way, have similar interests, and share similar characteristics. Firms utilize demographic, geographic, psychographic, and behavioral segmentation as a way of generating a target market.

Operating system
An operating system (OS) is system software that manages computer hardware and software resources and provides common services for computer programs. The operating system is a component of the system software in a computer system. Application programs usually require an operating system to function.
Time-sharing operating systems schedule tasks for efficient use of the system and may also include accounting software for cost allocation of processor time, mass storage, printing, and other resources.
For hardware functions such as input and output and memory allocation, the operating system acts as an intermediary between programs and the computer hardware, although the application code is usually executed directly by the hardware and frequently makes system calls to an OS function or is interrupted by it. Operating systems are found on many devices that contain a computer – from cellular phones and video game consoles to web servers and supercomputers.
Examples of popular desktop operating systems include Apple OS X, Linux and its variants, and Microsoft Windows. So-called mobile operating systems include Android and iOS.

Market segmentation
Market segmentation is a marketing strategy which involves dividing a broad target market into subsets of consumers, businesses, or countries that have, or are perceived to have, common needs, interests, and priorities, and then designing and implementing strategies to target them. Market segmentation strategies are generally used to identify and further define the target customers, and provide supporting data for marketing plan elements such as positioning to achieve certain marketing plan objectives. Businesses may develop product differentiation strategies, or an undifferentiated approach, involving specific products or product lines depending on the specific demand and attributes of the target segment.
Types of market segmentation
The following are the most common forms of market segmentation practices.
Geographic segmentation
Marketers can segment according to geographic criteria—nations, states, regions, countries, cities, neighborhoods, or postal codes. The geo-cluster approach combines demographic data with geographic data to create a more accurate or specific profile. With respect to region, in rainy regions merchants can sell things like raincoats, umbrellas and gumboots. In hot regions, one can sell summer clothing. A small business commodity store may target only customers from the local neighborhood, while a larger department store can target its marketing towards several neighborhoods in a larger city or area, while ignoring customers in other continents. Geographic segmentation is important and may be considered the first step to international marketing, followed by demographic and psychographic segmentation.

Market segmentation is a commonly utilized concept in business where a larger market of consumers is divided into smaller groups of consumers who share certain characteristics. The goal is to generate what is known as a target market, which is an identifiable group of consumers who behave in a similar way, have similar interests, and share similar characteristics. Firms utilize demographic, geographic, psychographic, and behavioral segmentation as a way of generating a target market.

I'll dive into a few machine learning and statistical techniques to extract insights from customer data, and demonstrate how to execute them on real data using Python and open-source libraries.
Abstract
I will go through clustering and decision tree analysis using sciki-learn and two-sample t test using scipy. We will learn the intuition for each technique, the math behind them, and how to implement them and evaluate the results using Python. I will be using open-source data for the demonstration, and show what insights you can extract from actual data using these techniques.
