The Greatest Hits and a Little Bit More is the first greatest hits album released by English boy band 911. It was released in the United Kingdom on 25 October 1999.
Wonderland is a short animated film by Walter Lantz Productions, and part of a long-running short film series featuring Oswald the Lucky Rabbit. Contrary to its title, the film is not an adaptation of Alice in Wonderland but that of Jack and the Beanstalk.
Oswald lives in a house with his grandmother. Although they have a low income, they don't feel so down. One day the landlord pays them a visit. The landlord tells them they have been unable to pay rent to the house in a timely manner, and therefore they need to move out in a few hours. While the grandmother is saddened by this, Oswald offers her hope as he intends to sell their cow.
Oswald heads to the outdoors, where he sells the cow to a wizard. In exchange, the wizard offers a sack of beans. Nevertheless, Oswald is pleased of what he got as he happily rushes back towards the house. But on the way, he stumbles, and the beans in the bag drop into a hole in the ground. In no time the beans grow into a huge stalk that stretches toward the sky. One of the stalk's stems catches Oswald, and carries him upward.
Wonderland is a 1999 drama film about the lives of a London couple, their three adult daughters and absent son. Directed by Michael Winterbottom, the film stars Jack Shepherd, Kika Markham, Shirley Henderson, Gina McKee, Molly Parker, John Simm, and Stuart Townsend. The film was entered into the 1999 Cannes Film Festival.
The film follows the lives of three London sisters and their family over five days, a long Guy Fawkes Night weekend in November. Waitress Nadia (McKee), "shy, with a backpack and her hair in girlish twists", spends all her time going on blind dates with rubbish men from personal ads, while her hairdresser sister Debbie (Henderson) struggles to raise her 11-year-old son without much help from his irresponsible father (Hart). Meanwhile, Molly (Parker) is pregnant but her husband Eddie (Simm) has left his job without telling her.
Eileen (Markham) and Bill (Shepherd), their parents, are virtually estranged since the departure of their eldest son Darren (Enzo Cilenti), who they have not heard from since he left home; having left he is the only happy one in the family. Eileen takes her silent frustrations out on the neighbour's barking dog, poisoning it when it prevents her from sleeping.
In phonetics, liquids or liquid consonants are a class of consonants consisting of lateral consonants together with rhotics.
Liquids as a class often behave in a similar way in the phonotactics of a language: for example, they often have the greatest freedom in occurring in consonant clusters. In many languages, such as Japanese and Korean, there is a single liquid phoneme that has both lateral and rhotic allophones.
English has two liquid phonemes, one lateral, /l/ and one rhotic, /ɹ/, exemplified in the words led and red.
Many other European languages have one lateral and one rhotic phoneme. Some, such as Greek, Italian and Serbo-Croatian, have more than two liquid phonemes. All three languages have the set /l/ /ʎ/ /r/, with two laterals and one rhotic. Similarly, the Iberian languages contrast four liquid phonemes. /l/, /ʎ/, /ɾ/, and a fourth phoneme that is an alveolar trill in all but some varieties of Portuguese, where it is a uvular trill or fricative. Some European languages, like Russian and Irish, contrast a palatalized lateral–rhotic pair with an unpalatalized (or velarized) set (e.g. /lʲ/ /rʲ/ /l/ /r/ in Russian).
Liquid is the second full-length album and fifth studio release by Recoil, released by Mute Records on March 21, 2000. It was recorded at Alan Wilder's home studio, The Thin Line, in Sussex, during sessions that lasted from July 1998 to June 1999. The album was produced by Alan Wilder, with production assistance and co-ordination by Hepzibah Sessa, and additional production and sound design by PK. Liquid is Recoil's fifth album release.
Liquid's music continues in much the same vein as his previous album, Unsound Methods, but it considered to be a concept album revolving around a near-death experience in 1994. Wilder and his partner, Hepzibah Sessa, were driving in Scotland and a Tornado Bomber hit a hillside in front of them, and two airmen were killed. The idea of the album, especially the bookending track "Black Box", centered on what was going through the pilot's last moments of life.
Recoil again picked a diverse set guest vocalists - internationally acclaimed (and fellow Mute artist) Diamanda Galás, 1940s gospel singers the Golden Gate Jubilee Quartet, New York spoken word performers Nicole Blackman and Samantha Coerbell, and Catalan narrator (and Recoil fan) Rosa Torras. Additional musicians utilized were Curve's Dean Garcia (bass) and Steve Monti (drums), Ian Dury and the Blockheads' Merlin Rhys-Jones (guitar), and Miranda Sex Garden's Hepzibah Sessa (violin).
Liquid is a collaborative EP by American rapper/producer Le1f and producer Boody, released on November 19, 2012.
