Obama clinched the Democratic nomination on Tuesday after accumulating enough delegates to win the long primary race. Rival Hillary Rodham Clinton is expected to announce she will end her candidacy on Saturday. Sarah Anyango likened the outcome to a football match: "One of the teams had to score the goal, and it is lucky that the American people supported Obama." Anyango lives on a small farmstead about an hour's drive from Kisumu. Obama's father used to herd goats there, and the house is decorated with memorabilia of her now famous grandson. She proudly shows a photograph of herself standing next to a young Barack Obama carrying a sack of vegetables on the farm. "When Obama was here, Obama told me he would be running for the Presidency of the United States," said Anyango. "We are praying for Obama to be elected the President of the United States," she added, expressing hope that her grandson would not only do good in the US, but also in Kenya. "It would be useful for Kenyans and all the world, particularly in Kenya he will help to build hospitals and schools," she said, hopefully.
