This was first feature film about the blonde Fiction House jungle heroine to receive wide commercial release. Three episodes of the Irish McCalla television series, "Sheena Queen of the Jungle" (1955-56), were hobbled together to make a shoddy feature film called "Queen of the Jungle", possibly for the European market, but nothing is known about where or when it was released. The 1984 "Sheena" starred Tanya Roberts as Sheena; Ted Wass as Vic Casey, a reporter; Donovan Scott as Fletch, his photographer/partner; Elizabeth of Toro as the Zambuli Shaman; France Zobda as Countess Zabda; and Trevor Thomas as Prince Otwani. It was filmed on location in Kenya and was directed by John Guillerman, who also directed "Tarzan's Greatest Adventure" (1959), "Tarzan Goes to India (1962), "The Towering Inferno (1974), and "King Kong" (1976).
"Sheena" was univerally panned by critics but has developed a cult following, principally because of the the film's tanned, muscular and scantily-clad leading lady.

Sheena (film)
Sheena, also known as Sheena: Queen of the Jungle, is a 1984 Columbia Pictures film in Metrocolor based on a comic-book character that first appeared in the late 1930s, Sheena, Queen of the Jungle.
A hybrid of action-adventure and soap opera–style drama, Sheena was shot on location in Kenya. It tells the tale of a female version of Tarzan who was raised in the fictional African country of Tigora by the equally fictional Zambouli tribe.
The movie starred Tanya Roberts, Ted Wass (later to star in the television series Blossom) and Trevor Thomas. It was directed by John Guillermin and written by Lorenzo Semple, Jr., who had previously collaborated on the infamous 1976 remake of King Kong.
Sheena bombed in theaters and was nominated for five Golden Raspberry Awards including Worst Picture, Worst Actress (Tanya Roberts), Worst Director, Worst Screenplay and Worst Musical Score, but it reportedly did find some cult success on home video and DVD.
Plot
While investigating rumors of a mystical "healing earth" whose powers are said to flow forth from the sacred Gudjara Mountain, geologists Philip and Betsy Ames (Michael Shannon and Nancy Paul) are killed in a cave-in, leaving their young daughter Janet an orphan.

SHEENA THE QUEEN OF THE JUNGLE Desde 1984 a 2012 Agora em DVD,Blu-Ray. SHEENA A ´´ Rainha das Selvas ´´ Hoje ...mais de duas décadas depois, o filme continua a entreter e emocionar. BASTIDORES: O filme Sheena foi totalmente rodado no parque nacional de Shaba no Quênia (África)em 1984. Ao todo foram usados 36 animais(1 rinoceronte,1 elefante,5 leões,5 cavalos(pintados de zebra),4 leopardos,4 chimpanzés e 16 flamingos).Conseguir permissão p/esses animais entrarem e sairem do continente africano deu muito trabalho a produção. O treinador dos animais, foi o veterano Hubert Wells, ele chefiou uma equipe de mais 7 treinadores. Interessante que os animais treinados se adaptaram fácil a locação, inclusive com os animais selvagens que tbm participavam do filme. Um guia da reserva de shaba ficou com a tarefa de levar os animais ferozes do parque para um local distante, para que a equipe e elenco não corressem perigo. TANYA ROBERTS: Ela malhou durante 9 meses,5 horas por dia, p/ficar com aquele corpo escultural no filme. Fez aulas de trapézio p/as cenas do cipó e tbm cavalgadas sem sela. Concorreu para o papel no fime com a também atriz sybill daning. ACIDENTES: Ao fazer a cena na qual sobe em uma árvore junto com o reporter vick casey, tanya roberts acabou caindo e torcendo o pé CURIOSIDADES: Para a cena do banho de cachoeira, 5 aquecedores foram ligados ao mesmo tempo p/que a atriz não sofresse devido as águas géla das, entre um take e outro da cena, ela esquentava o corpo tomando algumas doses de conhaque. Na cena final , onde ela usa os cipós entre as árvores, tanya estava presa por cabos. Tanya roberts dispensou dublê em 80% das cenas arriscadas, fazendo por conta próprias as cenas de escaladas em árvores e rochedos. O script do filme foi mudado inúmeras vzs, mesmo durante as filmagens, o que fez com que tanya roberts ficasse desapontada com essas mudanças de última hora, supostamente o final do filme. MÚSICA: A canção instrumental sheena theme, na verdade é uma cópia da música Charriots of fire, tema usado nas aberturas dos jogos olímpicos.Atualmente é possivel comprar o cd com a trilha original do filme, o que já é digno de colecionador pois só existem 1000 unidades no mundo inteiro. ELENCO: tanya roberts:infelizmente a atriz ficou viúva recentemente e pode ser vista na série the 70th show do canal sony. Ted wass(repóter vick casey) atuou em alguns filmes, esta no 2º casamento, tem 3 filhos e virou diretor de tv. Elizabeth of toro(sacerdotisa): poucas pessoas sabem, mas a atriz que faz a sacerdotisa é uma princesa de verdade na vida real, e colaborou muito , não somente p/a cultura africana , p/a cultura negra mundial. BILHETERIA: Embora sheena seja uma super produção, além do filme, foram lançados revistas, gibis, trilha sonora..o filme foi fracasso de crítica e bilheteria, alguns críticos de cinema maldoso disse que o filme poderia se chamar Sheena a vergonha da selva. Mesmo assim, o filme é bastante popular no mundo inteiro e conta com fiéis fãs , cuja a infancia foi marcada por esse belissimo filme. Deixem seus Comentarios...... -

Hoje ...mais de duas décadas depois, o filme continua a entreter e emocionar.
BASTIDORES:
O filme Sheena foi totalmente rodado no parque nacional de Shaba no Quênia (África)em 1984. Ao todo foram usados 36 animais(1 rinoceronte,1 elefante,5 leões,5 cavalos(pintados de zebra),4 leopardos,4 chimpanzés e 16 flamingos).Conseguir permissão p/esses animais entrarem e sairem do continente africano deu muito trabalho a produção.
O treinador dos animais, foi o veterano Hubert Wells, ele chefiou uma equipe de mais 7 treinadores.
Interessante que os animais treinados se adaptaram fácil a locação, inclusive com os animais selvagens que tbm participavam do filme.
Um guia da reserva de shaba ficou com a tarefa de levar os animais ferozes do parque para um local distante, para que a equipe e elenco não corressem perigo.
TANYA ROBERTS:
Ela malhou durante 9 meses,5 horas por dia, p/ficar com aquele corpo escultural no filme.
Fez aulas de trapézio p/as cenas do cipó e tbm cavalgadas sem sela.
Concorreu para o papel no fime com a também atriz sybill daning.
ACIDENTES:
Ao fazer a cena na qual sobe em uma árvore junto com o reporter vick casey, tanya roberts acabou caindo e torcendo o pé
CURIOSIDADES:
Para a cena do banho de cachoeira, 5 aquecedores foram ligados ao mesmo tempo p/que a atriz não sofresse devido as águas géla das, entre um take e outro da cena, ela esquentava o corpo tomando algumas doses de conhaque.
Na cena final , onde ela usa os cipós entre as árvores, tanya estava presa por cabos.
Tanya roberts dispensou dublê em 80% das cenas arriscadas, fazendo por conta próprias as cenas de escaladas em árvores e rochedos.
O script do filme foi mudado inúmeras vzs, mesmo durante as filmagens, o que fez com que tanya roberts ficasse desapontada com essas mudanças de última hora, supostamente o final do filme.
MÚSICA:
A canção instrumental sheena theme, na verdade é uma cópia da música Charriots of fire, tema usado nas aberturas dos jogos olímpicos.Atualmente é possivel comprar o cd com a trilha original do filme, o que já é digno de colecionador pois só existem 1000 unidades no mundo inteiro.
ELENCO:
tanya roberts:infelizmente a atriz ficou viúva recentemente e pode ser vista na série the 70th show do canal sony. Ted wass(repóter vick casey) atuou em alguns filmes, esta no 2º casamento, tem 3 filhos e virou diretor de tv.
Elizabeth of toro(sacerdotisa): poucas pessoas sabem, mas a atriz que faz a sacerdotisa é uma princesa de verdade na vida real, e colaborou muito , não somente p/a cultura africana , p/a cultura negra mundial.
BILHETERIA:
Embora sheena seja uma super produção, além do filme, foram lançados revistas, gibis, trilha sonora..o filme foi fracasso de crítica e bilheteria, alguns críticos de cinema maldoso disse que o filme poderia se chamar Sheena a vergonha da selva.
Mesmo assim, o filme é bastante popular no mundo inteiro e conta com fiéis fãs , cuja a infancia foi marcada por esse belissimo filme.
