Grand Canyon National Park is the United States' 15th oldest national park. Named a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1979, the park is located in Arizona. The park's central feature is the Grand Canyon, a gorge of the Colorado River, which is often considered one of the Seven Natural Wonders of the World. The park covers 1,217,262 acres (1,901.972 sq mi; 492,608 ha; 4,926.08 km2) of unincorporated area in Coconino and Mohave counties.
Grand Canyon was officially designated a national park in 1919, though the landmark had been well known to Americans for over thirty years prior. In 1903, President Theodore Roosevelt visited the site and said: "The Grand Canyon fills me with awe. It is beyond comparison—beyond description; absolutely unparalleled through-out the wide world... Let this great wonder of nature remain as it now is. Do nothing to mar its grandeur, sublimity and loveliness. You cannot improve on it. But what you can do is to keep it for your children, your children's children, and all who come after you, as the one great sight which every American should see."
Grand Canyon Village Historic District comprises the historic center of Grand Canyon Village, on the South Rim of the Grand Canyon in Grand Canyon National Park, Arizona. The district includes numerous landmark park structures, many of which are National Historic Landmarks themselves, or are listed on the National Register of Historic Places. The town design as a whole is also significant for its attention to integration with the Grand Canyon landscape, its incorporation of National Park Service Rustic design elements, and for the idiosyncratic design of park concessioner structures such as the El Tovar Hotel.
Grand Canyon Village was planned by the National Park Service to be a comprehensive development for tourism on the South Rim. It is the largest example of Park Service town planning extant in the national park system. Initially centered on the terminus of the Grand Canyon Railway, the village expanded as both the Park Service and the park concessioner, the Fred Harvey Company, built or expanded facilities. Initial development was centered on the El Tovar Hotel and the Bright Angel Lodge, both concessioner-operated facilities. The El Tovar was opened in 1905 as a destination hotel on the canyon rim by the Atchison, Topeka and Santa Fe Railway, who owned the Grand Canyon spur. A new train depot was built next to the hotel by the railway in 1909. Nearly all early development at the village was undertaken by concessioners.
The Grand Canyon (Hopi: Ongtupqa; Yavapai: Wi:kaʼi:la, Spanish: Gran Cañón) is a steep-sided canyon carved by the Colorado River in the state of Arizona in the United States. It is contained within and managed by Grand Canyon National Park, the Kaibab National Forest, Grand Canyon-Parashant National Monument, the Hualapai Tribal Nation, the Havasupai people and the Navajo Nation. President Theodore Roosevelt was a major proponent of preservation of the Grand Canyon area, and visited it on numerous occasions to hunt and enjoy the scenery.
The Grand Canyon is 277 miles (446 km) long, up to 18 miles (29 km) wide and attains a depth of over a mile (6,093 feet or 1,857 meters). Nearly two billion years of Earth's geological history have been exposed as the Colorado River and its tributaries cut their channels through layer after layer of rock while the Colorado Plateau was uplifted. While some aspects about the history of incision of the canyon are debated by geologists, several recent studies support the hypothesis that the Colorado River established its course through the area about 5 or 6 million years ago. Since that time, the Colorado River has driven the down-cutting of the tributaries and retreat of the cliffs, simultaneously deepening and widening the canyon.

Grand Canyon : Blink of Time is a time lapse film featuring the stunning views of the Grand Canyon. Blink of Time brings the viewer on a journey around and into the canyon. Over 80,000 photos were taken over the course of 7 weeks in April, May, and June of 2012 to make this film. During the production we were able to capture the solar eclipse that took place on May 20, 2012. You may also notice there are two shots that are not from the Grand Canyon both are of Horseshoe Bend. We felt it was appropriate to include these shots into the film because the colorado river is a main staple of the Grand Canyon. This is GOTM Films first time lapse passion project and was funded entirely by us. Our goal was to show the scope of the Grand Canyon to those who haven’t had the fortune of visiting this ...
On November 29, 2013, Grand Canyon experienced a rare temperature inversion, where cool air rising from the bottom of the canyon meets warm air from above, creating a layer of fog in the canyon. This happens about once or twice a year, but this particular inversion was a 10 year event, with clear skies above and the canyon full nearly to the brim with fog.

Finally I finished the 3rd part of my "Natural Wonders" miniMovies. This time its about the Grand Canyon, one of the most impressing canyons, I´ve ever seen. I had to spend a huge amount of time for grading each shot extensively as I shot (by accident) with lots of different settings from superflat to highly saturated. So lots of shots got their particular grading as well as a lot of masks which I had to use, to separate the skys from the ground. This footage showed me again, how bitchy 7D footage can be, if you don´t know exactly what you do. I did a lot of shots out of a helicopter, but as it is - when you´re beginner - you do a lot of things, you shouldn´t do and of course...I did :D I tried my best to stabilize some of them, the rest...puhh...I had to put into trash. Travel video about destination Grand Canyon in the United States of America. Formed at the point where the Colorado River breaks through the mountains of the American West, the 1800 metre deep Grand Canyon is endowed with a wealth of natural forms and shapes which have made it inevitable that it would have a colourful and important role to play within the myths of creation of the region’s indigenous inhabitants. The Native American Indians chose it as their ‘Happy Hunting Grounds’ in which man’s soul lives on after death. Myth and legend tell of how a giant buffalo ripped open the earth with its horns forcing it upwards toward heaven. This is the kingdom of ‘Coyote’, creator of the world, who is answerable only to the God Manitou. The Grand Canyon is fact, fiction, legend and myth…a geograp...

Travel video about destination Grand Canyon in The USA. There are few places on Earth that highlight the power of nature or are as impressive as the truly awesome Grand Canyon. Millions of years ago erosion and the relentless power of the Colorado River created its magnificent landscape and even today the river continues to force its way through the rock, sand and mud of Canyon. The Canyon extends for four hundred kilometres and its width ranges from between six and thirty kilometres. In 1919 the American government designated the region as a protected area. The first to discover the canyons were the Anasazi Indians who settled in the area around a thousand years ago. They hunted for food and also cultivated corn, pumpkins and beans in many of the neighbouring valleys. Even today a small ...

If I was the Grand Canyon I'd echo everything you say but I'm just me I'm
