Jae

Jae is a South African pop singer. Her debut solo single "Missing You" (2002) achieved several number-one placings over a range of radio categories.

In Jae's home province of KwaZulu-Natal, the region's premier radio station, East Coast Radio, placed "Missing You" at No. 4 on its list of Top 100 Songs for 2002. This was the only South African song in the Top 20.

The "Missing You" EP, also featuring the single "It's Over", became the first by a South African R&B artist to achieve platinum sales status in South Africa.

Jae followed up with three other hit singles included on her debut album: "It’s Over", "I Love You" and "Falling”.

In 2004 and 2005, Jae released the radio singles "I Found Love" and "Jaelousy", resulting in her having had six national radio hits in four years.

"Missing You" was written in memory of Jae's sister Bronwyn and Jae's niece and nephew, who were killed in a car accident.

Day6 (Hangul: 데이식스, stylized DAY6) is a South Korean rock band formed by JYP Entertainment. The group consists of six members: Sungjin, Jae, Young K, Junhyeok, Wonpil, and Dowoon. The group debuted with a mini album, The Day, on September 7, 2015.

History

Pre-debut: K-pop Star, 5LIVE

In 2010, Young K was active under the name Brian Kang as part of a three-member group in Toronto, Canada. Along with members Terry He and Don Lee, he performed at several local stages and has several covers up on Terry He's channel. Along with Don Lee, Young K was contacted by JYP and then auditioned, and then accepted to be trainees. Don Lee later left JYP to pursue medical studies.

In 2012, Jae competed on the first season of SBS K-pop Star. Though he finished in sixth place in the competition overall, he later signed an exclusive contract with JYP Entertainment alongside the season's winner, Park Ji-min, and third-place finisher, Baek A-yeon.

JYP Entertainment initially announced the group as a five-member group called 5LIVE, composed of Sungjin, Jae, Young K, Junhyeok, and Wonpil. The group began promotions as 5LIVE in 2014, appearing on the 4th episode of Mnet's reality-survival program Who is Next: WIN and releasing a song titled "Lovely Girl" for the Pretty Man OST. However, the band came to dislike this name as many fans compared their name with that of American band Maroon 5.

Yoo Jae-suk

Yoo Jae-suk (Hangul: 유재석; RR: Yu Jae-seok; born on August 14, 1972), is a South Korean comedian, actor, and television comedy show host. Nicknamed the "MC of the nation" (국민 MC), a vote by South Korean netizens proclaimed him the most popular Korean comedian for five consecutive years beginning (2004-2008). He has hosted several variety television shows in South Korea, including the popular programs Infinite Challenge and Running Man. He is also nicknamed "The Grasshopper", due to his early appearances where he dressed as a grasshopper. He is now known for his quick wit and appeal across a wide range of demographics. He has established himself as one of Korea's top comedians and TV personalities.

Biography

Yoo Jae-suk was born as the eldest child out of three (he has two younger sisters) on August 14, 1972 in Seoul, South Korea. Yoo Jae-suk attended the Seoul Institute of the Arts, but was unable to graduate due to his busy schedule as an up-and-coming comedian.

His television debut was on the KBS Comedian Festival (for college students) in 1991, where he performed a parody of a commercial with Choi Seung-gyung (Hangul: 최승경). Him dancing to a cover of the song "Step by Step" by New Kids on the Block is also one of his early memorable moments. In 2002, after nine hard years as a relatively unknown comedian, thanks to a recommendation by Choi Jin-sil, he hosted a program called Live and Enjoy Together (Dong-guh-dong-lak). The program became instantly popular and since then Yoo began to host many other variety programs. His potential was fully realized when he co-hosted a program called The Crash of MCs (MC 대격돌 – 공포의 쿵쿵따) with Kang Ho-dong, Lee Hwi-jae and Kim Han-seok.

After School Club

After School Club, often shortened to ASC, is a South Korean internet based live music request television talk show hosted by K-pop idol Eric Nam and co-hosted by Kevin Woo and Park Jimin. Debuting on April 17, 2013, it is produced by Park Jeong-Wo and airs on Arirang TV. ASC features various musical guests of South Korea and the series is directed at an international audience so the principal language is English with Korean subtitles and translations produced on air. It allows international fans of K-pop music to interact directly with the live shows through social media. Fans can join in on the live broadcasts through video chats in Google Hangout, send in tweets to the show's official Twitter Account. Fans are also able to share comments on the show's official Facebook account and ask questions and request their favourite music videos. The show is also available on Viki (website), a community for subtitles and on Soompi.

Premise and format

The show broadcasts live online and utilizes social media technologies such as Twitter and Google Hangout to directly interact with international fans. Two activities that take place every episode are the Roll Calls and Hangouts. During the Roll Call portion Twitter users tweet their name, location, the time and generally a short message to the weekly guest. Those that participate may be singled out during the beginning of the episode and given a shout out by the guest. "Hangouts" are typically done twice an episode where some fans are selected for a real-time Google Hangout on the show which usually involves something (such as a song or dance) prepared by the fan to show to the guest(s) and a request. Other activities include prepared performances for fans by the guests, such as impressions, dances, and short parodies.

Song Ji-hyo

Cheon Seong-im (born 15 August 1981), better known by her stage name Song Ji-hyo is a South Korean actress, television presenter and model. She first made her acting debut in Wishing Stairs (2003), one of the films in the Whispering Corridors film series. Her notable roles include being the ballerina Min Hyo-rin in the popular television series Princess Hours (2006), Lady Ye So-ya in Jumong (2007), The Queen in A Frozen Flower (2008), Jo Min Joo in Detectives in Trouble (2011), Hong Da In in The Fugitive of Joseon (2013), Oh Jin-hee in Emergency Couple (2014) and Kim Soo-jin in Ex-Girlfriend Club (2015).

Song gained international fame for being the only female member of the popular Korean variety show Running Man, which made her popularity rise across Asia. Her frank, easy-going personality endeared her to many Korean and international fans.

Early life

Song was born in Pohang, one of the main seaport cities in North Gyeongsang, on 15 August 1981. She has a younger brother and a younger sister. She attended Daerim Elementary School, Hwagye Middle School and Ilsan Convention High School. Song dreamed of being an actress during her high school years after watching Park Shin-yang in the 1998 South Korean film, Promise. She graduated with a tax and accounting degree from Kyungmoon University (now Kookje College), located in Pyeongtaek, Gyeonggi. Before entering industry world, it was revealed that Song was cast while working on a part-time job at a cafe.
