Sophie (Miranda July) and Jason (Hamish Linklater) are a modern couple connected to the internet. Sophie teaches dance classes for little kids, and Jason is computer tech support from their apartment. But when they find a stray cat named Paw-Paw, they take her to the vet only to find out that the cat is very sick and needs treatment for one month. After that Paw-Paw will be coming home and their lives will suddenly have some responsibility. Realizing that their lives will change forever, they determine to take the 30 days before Paw-Paw comes home, to live life to the fullest. Unplugging from the internet and going outside tests their boundaries and their lives together and puts their relationship in jeopardy.
This is an indie film, and intended to be heavy art. I found it really annoying and boring as hell. I realize the characters are not supposed to be likable, and they are not supposed to be realistic. But the whole point of this movie is lost on me. Not only are they ridiculous, but I didn't really care about them. Then the depressing ending didn't depress me. I figured it was all probably for the best considering what a**holes these two were in the first place. Then I found that Ms July wrote it, starred in it, directed it, and we all know how wonderfully it worked out for Eddie Murphy when he tried to do everything. I think Norbett may have ruined his career!
Trying to find something positive to say about this movie, I tried listening to the laugh track.....I mean commentary track after watching this mess to see if maybe there was something I was just missing. At least the commentary track featured writer Miranda July, director Miranda July, and movie star Miranda July, so we had 3 viewpoints on it, but they were decided in agreement that there was nothing much going on. It was all about Me, Myself, and I, and lots of I did this, and I though this, and I decided to do this. Then part way into the commentary I heard the words "I am Berkeley" and at that point I turned it of and said out loud, "Well that explains it". Not "I'm from Berkeley" or "I went to Berkeley", but "I am Berkeley". I thought, "Yes you are".
So this is not a film that appeals to me. I enjoy films that make you think about things (See my review of Melancholia for a artsy film that I really enjoyed). But this is a narcissistic pile of junk with no redeeming qualities that I can see. Oh, and the film is narrated by Paw-Paw the cat in one of the most awful voices I've ever heard. But at least they hired a wonderful voice artist for the part that goes screeching throughout the entire film. No other than Miranda July.

Contemporary high schooler Marty McFly (Michael J. Fox) doesn't have the most pleasant of lives. Browbeaten by his principal at school, Marty must also endure the acrimonious relationship between his nerdy father (Crispin Glover) and his lovely mother (Lea Thompson), who in turn suffer the bullying of middle-aged jerk Biff (Thomas F. Wilson), Marty's dad's supervisor. The one balm in Marty's life is his friendship with eccentric scientist Doc (Christopher Lloyd), who at present is working on a time machine. Accidentally zapped back into the 1950s, Marty inadvertently interferes with the budding romance of his now-teenaged parents. Our hero must now reunite his parents-to-be, lest he cease to exist in the 1980s. It won't be easy, especially with the loutish Biff, now also a teenager, complicating matters. Beyond its dazzling special effects, the best element of Back to the Future is the performance of Michael J. Fox, who finds himself in the quagmire of surviving the white-bread 1950s with a hip 1980s mindset. Back to the Future cemented the box-office bankability of both Fox and the film's director, Robert Zemeckis, who went on to helm two equally exhilarating sequels.

Things have barely settled from the excitement and resolve of the original Back to the Future, when in pops that crazy inventor Dr. Emmett Brown (Christopher Lloyd) with news that in order to prevent a series of events that could ruin the McFly name for posterity, Marty McFly (Michael J. Fox ) and his girlfriend are whisked into the future to the year 2015, where Marty must tangle with a teen rogue named Griff, who's obviously the descendant of Biff, the first Future film's bully. Marty foils Griff and his group when he jumps on an air-foil skateboard that flies him through town at rakish speeds with the loser bullies beaten again. Marty gets a money-making brainstorm before hopping in the time-traveling DeLorean, and he purchases a sports almanac. He figures that back in 1985 he'll be able to place sure-fire bets using the published sports scores of the games that are yet to happen. Unfortunately for Marty, Dr. Brown disapproves of his betting scheme -- he feels too much messing with time is very dangerous -- and he tosses the almanac. A hidden Biff overhears the discussion about the almanac, sees it get tossed out, and grabs it. Thus begins a time-traveling swirl to make the head spin. Biff swipes the DeLorean, heads back to 1955, and with the help of the unerring almanac, bets his way to power. The now-altered "Biff world" has turned into a nightmarish scene with Biff the mogul, residing in a Vegas-styled pleasure palace and running everything. It's all our hero Marty can do to pull the pieces together this time, as he must jump between three generations of intertwined time travel. The end of Back to the Future, Part 2 introduces its sequel as the zany professor has already time-dashed away to the Wild West of the late 1800s and invites Marty into a new adventure.

Miranda July
Miranda Jennifer July (born Miranda Jennifer Grossinger on February 15, 1974) is an American film director, screenwriter, actor, author and artist. Her body of work includes film, fiction, monologue, digital media presentations, and live performance art. She wrote, directed and starred in the films Me and You and Everyone We Know (2005) and The Future (2011). Her most recent book, debut novel The First Bad Man, was published in January 2015.
Background
Miranda Jennifer July was born in Barre, Vermont in 1974, the daughter of Lindy Hough and Richard Grossinger. Her parents, who taught at Goddard College at the time, are both writers. In 1974 they founded North Atlantic Books, a publisher of alternative health, martial arts, and spiritual titles. Her father was Jewish, and her mother was Protestant. July was encouraged to work on her short fiction by author and friend of a friend Rick Moody.
Miranda grew up in Berkeley, California, where she first began writing plays and staging them at the all-ages club 924 Gilman. She attended The College Preparatory School in Oakland for high school. She later attended UC Santa Cruz, dropping out in her sophomore year. After leaving college, she moved to Portland, Oregon and took up performance art. Her performances were successful; she has been quoted as saying she has not worked a day job since she was 23 years old.

FILM DESCRIPTION: Things have barely settled from the excitement and resolve of the original Back to the Future, when in pops that crazy inventor Dr. Emmett Brown (Christopher Lloyd) with news that in order to prevent a series of events that could ruin the McFly name for posterity, Marty McFly (Michael J. Fox ) and his girlfriend are whisked into the future to the year 2015, where Marty must tangle with a teen rogue named Griff, who's obviously the descendant of Biff, the first Future film's bully. Marty foils Griff and his group when he jumps on an air-foil skateboard that flies him through town at rakish speeds with the loser bullies beaten again. Marty gets a money-making brainstorm before hopping in the time-traveling DeLorean, and he purchases a sports almanac. He figures that back in 1985 he'll be able to place sure-fire bets using the published sports scores of the games that are yet to happen. Unfortunately for Marty, Dr. Brown disapproves of his betting scheme -- he feels too much messing with time is very dangerous -- and he tosses the almanac. A hidden Biff overhears the discussion about the almanac, sees it get tossed out, and grabs it. Thus begins a time-traveling swirl to make the head spin. Biff swipes the DeLorean, heads back to 1955, and with the help of the unerring almanac, bets his way to power. The now-altered "Biff world" has turned into a nightmarish scene with Biff the mogul, residing in a Vegas-styled pleasure palace and running everything. It's all our hero Marty can do to pull the pieces together this time, as he must jump between three generations of intertwined time travel. The end of Back to the Future, Part 2 introduces its sequel as the zany professor has already time-dashed away to the Wild West of the late 1800s and invites Marty into a new adventure. Sophie (Miranda July) and Jason (Hamish Linklater) are a modern couple connected to the internet. Sophie teaches dance classes for little kids, and Jason is computer tech support from their apartment. But when they find a stray cat named Paw-Paw, they take her to the vet only to find out that the cat is very sick and needs treatment for one month. After that Paw-Paw will be coming home and their lives will suddenly have some responsibility. Realizing that their lives will change forever, they determine to take the 30 days before Paw-Paw comes home, to live life to the fullest. Unplugging from the internet and going outside tests their boundaries and their lives together and puts their relationship in jeopardy.
This is an indie film, and intended to be heavy art. I found it really annoying and boring as hell. I realize the characters are not supposed to be likable, and they are not supposed to be realistic. But the whole point of this movie is lost on me. Not only are they ridiculous, but I didn't really care about them. Then the depressing ending didn't depress me. I figured it was all probably for the best considering what a**holes these two were in the first place. Then I found that Ms July wrote it, starred in it, directed it, and we all know how wonderfully it worked out for Eddie Murphy when he tried to do everything. I think Norbett may have ruined his career!
Trying to find something positive to say about this movie, I tried listening to the laugh track.....I mean commentary track after watching this mess to see if maybe there was something I was just missing. At least the commentary track featured writer Miranda July, director Miranda July, and movie star Miranda July, so we had 3 viewpoints on it, but they were decided in agreement that there was nothing much going on. It was all about Me, Myself, and I, and lots of I did this, and I though this, and I decided to do this. Then part way into the commentary I heard the words "I am Berkeley" and at that point I turned it of and said out loud, "Well that explains it". Not "I'm from Berkeley" or "I went to Berkeley", but "I am Berkeley". I thought, "Yes you are".
So this is not a film that appeals to me. I enjoy films that make you think about things (See my review of Melancholia for a artsy film that I really enjoyed). But this is a narcissistic pile of junk with no redeeming qualities that I can see. Oh, and the film is narrated by Paw-Paw the cat in one of the most awful voices I've ever heard. But at least they hired a wonderful voice artist for the part that goes screeching throughout the entire film. No other than Miranda July.

Beyond its dazzling special effects, the best element of Back to the Future is the performance of Michael J. Fox, who finds himself in the quagmire of surviving the white-bread 1950s with a hip 1980s mindset. Back to the Future cemented the box-office bankability of both Fox and the film's director, Robert Zemeckis, who went on to helm two equally exhilarating sequels.

Marty (Michael J. Fox) borrows a hover board to escape Griff's (Thomas F. Wilson) gang, but loses momentum over a pond.
FILM DESCRIPTION:
Things have barely settled from the excitement and resolve of the original Back to the Future, when in pops that crazy inventor Dr. Emmett Brown (Christopher Lloyd) with news that in order to prevent a series of events that could ruin the McFly name for posterity, Marty McFly (Michael J. Fox ) and his girlfriend are whisked into the future to the year 2015, where Marty must tangle with a teen rogue named Griff, who's obviously the descendant of Biff, the first Future film's bully. Marty foils Griff and his group when he jumps on an air-foil skateboard that flies him through town at rakish speeds with the loser bullies beaten again. Marty gets a money-making brainstorm before hopping in the time-traveling DeLorean, and he purchases a sports almanac. He figures that back in 1985 he'll be able to place sure-fire bets using the published sports scores of the games that are yet to happen. Unfortunately for Marty, Dr. Brown disapproves of his betting scheme -- he feels too much messing with time is very dangerous -- and he tosses the almanac. A hidden Biff overhears the discussion about the almanac, sees it get tossed out, and grabs it. Thus begins a time-traveling swirl to make the head spin. Biff swipes the DeLorean, heads back to 1955, and with the help of the unerring almanac, bets his way to power. The now-altered "Biff world" has turned into a nightmarish scene with Biff the mogul, residing in a Vegas-styled pleasure palace and running everything. It's all our hero Marty can do to pull the pieces together this time, as he must jump between three generations of intertwined time travel. The end of Back to the Future, Part 2 introduces its sequel as the zany professor has already time-dashed away to the Wild West of the late 1800s and invites Marty into a new adventure.

Miranda July is best known for her Cannes-award winning career as a filmmaker. She began her career in performance and has continued to create across many mediums, including producing apps. In this film July explains how live performance allowed her to ‘engage in the present moment’ and feel the immediacy of the audience ‘right here, right now’.
Her work continues to challenge and engage the viewer by blurring the line between performance and film – most notably in 2011’s The Future which featured some key scenes originally conceived and staged in her performance work and began with the self-imposed question – how do you turn ‘a performance into a movie?’
