Ghalib

Ghalib (Urdu: غاؔلب‎; Hindi: ग़ालिब) born Mirza Asadullah Beg Khan (Urdu: مرزا اسد اللہ بیگ خان; Hindi: मिर्ज़ा असदुल्लाह् बेग़ ख़ान), on 27 December 1797 – died 15 February 1869),  was the preeminent IndianUrdu and Persian-language poet during the last years of the Mughal Empire. He used his pen-names of Ghalib (Urdu: غالب, ġhālib means "dominant") and Asad (Urdu: اسد, Asad means "lion"). His honorific was Dabir-ul-Mulk, Najm-ud-Daula. During his lifetime the Mughals were eclipsed and displaced by the British and finally deposed following the defeat of the Indian rebellion of 1857, events that he wrote of. Most notably, he wrote several ghazals during his life, which have since been interpreted and sung in many different ways by different people. Ghalib, the last great poet of the Mughal Era, is considered to be one of the most popular and influential poets of the Urdu language. Today Ghalib remains popular not only in India and Pakistan but also amongst Indian diaspora communities around the world.

Girl from Mars

"Girl from Mars" is a single by Northern Irish band Ash, the second to be released from the album 1977. It was released on 31 July 1995 on CD, a 7" vinyl, and as a cassette. "Girl from Mars" was Ash's first Top 40 single, reaching number 11 on the UK Singles Chart, number 16 on the Irish Singles Chart, and the first single to bring the band to mainstream prominence. The song was written by Tim Wheeler when he was sixteen, and was played by the band on their first Top of the Pops appearance two weeks after their A-level exams.

The song is also found on the greatest hits collection "Intergalactic Sonic 7″s", the soundtrack to the television program Gilmore Girls "Our Little Corner of the World", and live versions can be found on their "Live at the Wireless" album, "Tokyo Blitz" DVD and "Numbskull" EP.

The track has been used by NASA as the hold music on their telephone lines.

Music video

Two different videos exists for the single. The first, the UK promo video, was directed by Peter Christopherson and is described by the band as a "cross between 'Give It Away' by the Red Hot Chili Peppers and the 'Natrel Plus' TV ad". The band (especially drummer Rick McMurray) hated the video so much that when the time came to release the song in America, they re-filmed it. Directed by Jesse Peretz (who also directed Foo Fighters's "Big Me" video), the video sees Ash playing the song as part of an art exhibition, and mesmerizing a small girl watching the band.

Devil Girl

Devil Girl is a 2007 thriller film, directed by Howie Askins and stars Jessica Graham, Tim Abell and Vanessa Kay.

Plot

Devil Girl follows the story of Fay on her trip across Route 66 after the death of her father, who happened to be a mechanic. Fay takes her father's muscle car and his wedding ring, and departs from her home after saying her farewells to her sister.

The story simultaneously follows the events of an overly medicated, nonsense-spewing young man in clown makeup, who appears to be dodging authorities whilst hopping from vehicle to vehicle along his travels. The clown stops at a gas station to steal a new ride; however, there is no vehicle to be found. The clown knocks out the cashier and steals the handy supply of drugs and junk food while a woman (the cowgirl) stops for gas. The clown then ties the woman up while Fay stops for gas. As Fay searches the station for a clerk the clown rummages through her car, stealing her wallet, and then leaves in the cowgirl's truck, which later breaks down.

Devil Girl from Mars

Devil Girl from Mars is a 1954, independently made, UK black-and-white science fiction film produced by Edward J. Danziger and Harry Lee Danziger, directed by David MacDonald, starring Patricia Laffan, Hugh McDermott, Adrienne Corri, and Hazel Court. The film was released by British Lion Films.

The story of Devil Girl from Mars concerns a female alien commander sent from Mars to acquire human males to replace their dying male population, thereby saving Martian civilization from extinction. When negotiation, then intimidation falls short, she must use force (both a raygun and a large robot) to obtain cooperation from a remote Scottish village, where she has landed her crippled flying saucer.

Plot

Nyah, a female alien commander from Mars, dressed in shiny black vinyl, heads for London in her flying saucer. She is part of the advanced alien team that is looking for Earth men to replace the dying male population on her world. Because of damage to her saucer, caused by entering Earth's atmosphere and then colliding with an aircraft, she is forced to land her damaged flying saucer in the remote Scottish moors, near a local village. She is armed with a raygun that can paralyze or kill, and she also has a tall, menacing robot named Chani.
