Carmarthenshire (Welsh: Sir Gaerfyrddin or Sir Gâr) is a unitary authority in the south west of Wales and the largest of the thirteen historic counties. The three largest towns are Llanelli, Carmarthen and Ammanford. Carmarthen is the county town and administrative centre of Carmarthenshire. The most populous settlement is the area in and around the town of Llanelli.
With its fertile land and agricultural produce, Carmarthenshire is known as the "Garden of Wales".
Carmarthenshire has its early roots in the region formerly known as Ystrad Tywi (Vale of [the river] Tywi) and part of the Principality of Deheubarth during the High Middle Ages, with the court at Dinefwr.
Following the Edwardian Conquest of Wales, the region was reorganized by the Statute of Rhuddlan in 1284 into Carmarthenshire.
Carmarthenshire has been spelt in other ways in the past, including:
Carmarthenshire became an administrative county with a county council taking over functions from the Quarter Sessions under the Local Government Act 1888. Under the Local Government Act 1972, the administrative county of Carmarthenshire was abolished on 1 April 1974 and the area of Carmarthenshire became three districts within the new county of Dyfed : Carmarthen, Dinefwr and Llanelli. Under the Local Government (Wales) Act 1994, Dyfed was abolished on 1 April 1996 and the three districts united to form a unitary authority which had the same boundaries as the traditional county of Carmarthenshire. In 2003, the Clynderwen community council area was transferred to the administrative county of Pembrokeshire.

On a calm, sunny (but very cold) January day in 2017, I took out my Phantom 3 drone to capture some of the landscapes in Carmarthenshire. The daylight is at a premium at that time of the year (and so were the drone's batteries, as the cold often means that they expend a lot faster), so I decided to visit 3 beauty spots in Carmarthenshire that were not very far apart. This meant that I could capitalise on the golden hour of light that happens relatively early in the evening at that time of year. I decided to visit Carreg Cennen early in the morning, for a brisk walk with my father. This meant that I had enough time to recharge the drone's batteries before catching the setting sun later in the afternoon at Dryslwyn Castle and the nearby Paxton's Tower. After my home County has been battered by terrible storms recently, it was a pleasant change to have a sunny calm day with blue skies. So to get away from the coast, I took my family out for a run in the car over the beautiful Black Mountain Range in Carmarthenshire. The views were stunning, so I hope you enjoy this brief glimpse of this part of Wales that I'm proud to call home. All footage is hand held. *** The music track is 'Enchantment' by Mike Stobbie fro the YouTube Audio Swap collection **
There's a lot more to Carmarthenshire than just its gorgeous green countryside, we have some of the most glorious sandy beaches in Europe.

Far from any tourist shop in mid Wales lays Castell Y Bere, this castle has low visitor numbers is situated between the towns of Dolgellau and Aberdyfi, somewhat secluded, hidden away over 7 miles off the beaten path of any main A road means it retains some of its original charm surrounded by only farms and rolling hills. Heres a video of a day out with my son to the castle, I hope you enjoy it :) If you wish to find the location, heres a google maps link directly to it: https://www.google.co.uk/maps/place/Castell-y-bere/@52.6518193,-3.9843764,14.33z/data=!4m18!1m12!4m11!1m3!2m2!1d-3.8763928!2d52.6863062!1m6!1m2!1s0x48657e7330f41c5f:0xf40be8a52fbe0460!2sCastell-y-bere,+Llanfihangel-y-pennant,+Tywyn+LL36+9TP!2m2!1d-3.9708193!2d52.6583699!3m4!1s0x0:0xf40be8a52fbe0460!8m2!3d52.6583691!4d-3....
