Wade Ceramics Ltd are manufacturers of porcelain and earthenware, including animal figures for their Collectors Club, whisky flagons, and a variety of industrial ceramics.
In the 1950s, the Wade potteries created Whimsies, small solid porcelain animal figures first developed by Sir George Wade, which became popular and collectable in Britain and America. Their other brand names of inexpensive collectable porcelain include, TV Pets, Whoppas, and Minikins.
Over the years, Wade has produced many licensed pieces based on popular TV shows, comic books, Disney films, and more recently the Mr. Men books and Pokémon, and has won numerous awards.
Wade Ceramics was established in 1867. It was originally made up of a number of different companies founded by various members of the Wade family, and was only finally united as Wade Potteries Limited in 1958. The original companies were:
Pottery is the ceramic material which makes up potterywares, of which major types include earthenware, stoneware and porcelain. The place where such wares are made is also called a pottery (plural "potteries"). Pottery also refers to the art or craft of a potter or the manufacture of pottery. A dictionary definition is simply objects of fired clays. The definition of pottery used by the American Society for Testing and Materials (ASTM) is "all fired ceramic wares that contain clay when formed, except technical, structural, and refractory products."
Pottery originated before the Neolithic period, with ceramic objects like the Gravettian culture Venus of Dolní Věstonice figurine discovered in the Czech Republic date back to 29,000–25,000 BC, and pottery vessels that were discovered in Jiangxi, China, which date back to 18,000 BC. Early Neolithic pottery have been found in places such as Jomon Japan (10,500 BC), the Russian Far East (14,000 BC), Sub-Saharan Africa and South America.
CONFIG.SYS is the primary configuration file for the DOS and OS/2 operating systems. It is a special ASCII text file that contains user-accessible setup or configuration directives evaluated by the operating system during boot. CONFIG.SYS was introduced with DOS 2.0.
The directives in this file configure DOS for use with devices and applications in the system. The CONFIG.SYS directives also set up the memory managers in the system. After processing the CONFIG.SYS file, DOS proceeds to load and execute the command shell specified in the SHELL line of CONFIG.SYS, or COMMAND.COM if there is no such line. The command shell in turn is responsible for processing the AUTOEXEC.BAT file.
CONFIG.SYS is composed mostly of name=value directives which look like variable assignments. In fact, these will either define some tunable parameters often resulting in reservation of memory, or load files, mostly device drivers and TSRs, into memory.
In DOS, CONFIG.SYS is located in the root directory of the drive from which the system was booted.
Reclaimed water or recycled water, is former wastewater (sewage) that is treated to remove solids and impurities, and used in sustainable landscaping irrigation, to recharge groundwater aquifers, to meet commercial and industrial water needs, and for drinking. The purpose of these processes is water conservation and sustainability, rather than discharging the treated water to surface waters such as rivers and oceans. In some cases, recycled water can be used for streamflow augmentation to benefit ecosystems and improve aesthetics. One example of this is along Calera Creek in the City of Pacifica, CA.
The definition of reclaimed water, as defined by Levine and Asano, is "The end product of wastewater reclamation that meets water quality requirements for biodegradable materials, suspended matter and pathogens." Simply stated, reclaimed water is water that is used more than one time before it passes back into the natural water cycle. Scientifically-proven advances in water technology allow communities to reuse water for many different purposes, including industrial, irrigation, and drinking. The water is treated differently depending upon the source and use of the water and how it gets delivered.

This course ‘Introduction to Ceramic Processes’ is an introductory course to the basic processes that a designer can use for simulating design concepts around product form, that are either symmetric about an axis or that can be extruded. In any industrial production, various manufacturing processes or methods are used considering the desired technical, aesthetic and economic aspects of the final product. In case of shaping, we can divide the process of manufacturing depending upon the state of forming: • Liquid state forming (LSF) • Plastic state forming (PSF) • Solid state forming (SSF) Plastic state forming (PSF) involves making products from ceramics clay either by Extrusion or Pressing Technique. In extrusion the clay is pushed through a narrow die as shown in the figure. The products ...

In October 2011, Boaz Almog and Barak Deutscher from the superconductivity group at Tel-Aviv University led by Prof. Guy Deutscher, demonstrated how a superconductor disc is trapped in a surrounding magnetic field, a phenomenon called "Quantum Levitation" or "Quantum Locking". By using the exceptional large scale superconductors produced by Mishael Azoulay, they are able to demonstrate a quantum effect that, although well known to physicists worldwide, was never seen and demonstrated this way. In addition to developing new superconductor technologies and applications, the superconductivity group in Tel-Aviv University is dedicated to teaching and educating the young and adults about superconductivity, through the unique and counter-intuitive phenomena of 'quantum locking' and 'quantum levi...

Richard Jacobs is a deceptively winsome and rather ancient retired Californian university professor with a subversive bent. He is also a writer and long time collector of pottery. Gareth Mason is an internationally recognised British potter with his own healthy disrespect for orthodoxy. Both share a love of words and fired clay. This unlikely pair exchanged two mighty letters in 2011/2012 (now published in the book, 'More is More') and subsequently distilled their writings into a unique 'two-hander' performance that flies in the face of conventional 'lecturing'. Delivered in Los Angeles, Philadelphia, New York and now London, this dramatic event addresses head-on the very essence of what it is to live an engaged and creative life. This is provocative stuff – they don't pull their pun...

Whitney Sherman, Director of the MFA in Illustration Practice at MICA introduces Martha Rich, followed by Jessie Hartland, both award-winning illustrators who served as critics for the MFA program. Originally from Philadelphia, Martha Rich lived the typical, suburban life-until she followed her husband to Los Angeles, where, just short of a picket fence and 2.5 children, her average American life unraveled. To cope with divorce, fate led her to a painting class taught by the Clayton Brothers. They persuaded her to quit her human resources job at Universal Studios and become an artist. Rich has taught at Art Center College of Design in Pasadena and University of the Arts in Philadelphia. Her illustrations have appeared in American Illustration 21-29 and in music videos for Beck and Less ...

My Holy Regalia (and more!) from my Altar to The Morrighan. Sadly, my cult-image of The Morrighan has been discontinued by Dryad Designs for several years, which is a damned shame since the only other cult-image of the goddess resembles almost an Arthurian "angel". Dryad Designs needs to bring this image back into circulation! Furthermore, McCoy ceramics are the most highly collectible of ceramics; in fact, my vintage hammered bronze ceramic cauldron soup terrine is extremely rare and coveted. Reorganizing and cleaning my Temple this morning was an utter act of spiritual devotion to the Goddess whom I serve, which brings me closer to Her by caring for Her cult-image and her Temple as a whole. Until next time, keep calm and witch on!

Nanjing ( listen; Chinese: 南京; pinyin: Nánjīng; Wade–Giles: Nan-ching) is the capital of Jiangsu province in Eastern China. It has a prominent place in Chinese history and culture, having been the capital of China for several periods. Its present name means "Southern Capital" and was widely romanized as Nankin and Nanking until the pinyin language reform, after which Nanjing was gradually adopted as the standard spelling of the city's name in most languages that use the Roman alphabet. Located in the lower Yangtze River drainage basin and Yangtze River Delta economic zone, Nanjing has long been one of China's most important cities. Having been the capital city of six different dynasties since 3 A.D., it is recognized as one of the Four Great Ancient Capitals of China. It was the capital of...
