Slocum may refer to:
Joshua Slocum (February 20, 1844 – on or shortly after November 14, 1909) was the first man to sail single-handedly around the world. He was a Nova Scotian born, naturalised American seaman and adventurer, and a noted writer. In 1900 he wrote a book about his journey Sailing Alone Around the World, which became an international best-seller. He disappeared in November 1909 while aboard his boat, the Spray.
Joshua Slocum was born on February 20, 1844 in Mount Hanley, Annapolis County, Nova Scotia (officially recorded as Wilmot Station), a community on the North Mountain within sight of the Bay of Fundy. The fifth of eleven children of John Slocombe and Sarah Jane Slocombe née Southern, Joshua descended, on his father's side, from a Quaker, known as "John the Exile" who left the United States shortly after 1780 because of his opposition to the American War for Independence. Part of the Loyalist migration to Nova Scotia, the Slocombes were granted 500 acres (2.0 km2) of farmland in Nova Scotia's Annapolis County.
Fallout 4 is an action role-playing video game developed by Bethesda Game Studios and published by Bethesda Softworks. The fifth major installment in the Fallout series, the game was released worldwide on November 10, 2015 for Microsoft Windows, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One.
It is set in a post-apocalyptic Boston in the year 2287, 210 years after a devastating nuclear war, in which the player character emerges from an underground bunker known as Vault 111. Gameplay is similar to that of Fallout 3 and Fallout: New Vegas. The player completes various quests and acquires experience points to level up their character. With first- and third-person perspectives available, players can explore Fallout 4's open world setting at will, allowing nonlinear gameplay. Companions can accompany the player on their voyages to assist them in battles and help with scavenging. Players have the ability to construct and deconstruct buildings and items, and use them to build a settlement, which can attract and be inhabited by non-playable characters.

On July 29, 1910, eight or possibly many moreAfrican Americans were murdered by an all-white mob of two to three hundred. Although the exact number of residents slaughtered is unknown, estimates are that more likely some two hundred people were killed. (Source Needed) Before the massacre, the majority of Slocum's several hundred residents was black; afterward, many black residents of Slocum fled the town and left behind real estate, homes, and other assets.
Sailing Alone Around the World (1900) is a sailing memoir by Joshua Slocum about his single-handed global circumnavigation aboard the sloop Spray. Slocum was the first person to sail around the world alone. The book was an immediate success and highly influential in inspiring later travelers.
Captain Slocum was a highly experienced navigator and ship owner. He rebuilt and refitted the derelict sloop Spray in a seaside pasture at Fairhaven, Massachusetts over thirteen months between early 1893 and 1894.
Between April 24, 1895 and June 27, 1898, Slocum, aboard the Spray, crossed the Atlantic twice (to Gibraltar and back to South America), negotiated the Strait of Magellan, and crossed the Pacific. He also visited Australia and South Africa before crossing the Atlantic (for the third time) to return to Massachusetts after a journey of 46,000 miles.
Slocum attracted considerable international interest by his journey, particularly once he had entered the Pacific. He was awaited at most of his ports of call, and gave lectures and lantern-slide shows to well-filled halls. His journal was first published in installments before being issued in book form in 1900. The book was lavishly illustrated.

Peterson (actor), Boyd Banks (actor), Matt Birman (actor), Gene Mack (actor), Daniel Kash (actor), Craig Eldridge (actor), Ossie Davis (actor), Bill Duke (director), Michel Colombier (composer),
Plot: The words "Black Power" bring back memories of names like Stokely Carmichael, H. Rap Brown, and Eldridge Cleaver, but in Bogalusa, LA a group of harassed Afro-Americans had decided they'd had enough and took up arms to defend themselves and force the white power structure to listen to them. This took place during "Freedom Summer", 1964, right after the Civil Rights Act had become law. Fact based movie stars Forest Whitaker and Ossie Davis, the former as the founder of the Deacons of Defense and Justice (DDJ) and the latter as a peaceful minister trying to prevent the unavoidable violence that will follow. The story revolves around the white-controlled factory which provides 70% of the town's income and employees 40% of its people. Segregation is still clinging on within the factory, with blacks denied the supervisory positions and forced into separate lunchrooms, bathrooms, and drinking fountains. The Ku Klux Klan (KKK) has its strongest power in this area and, as the DDJ gets armed the KKK brings in more members from throughout the U.S. There will be a war!

Eric has an original theory to predict an exceptionally devastating storm, bout the St. Louis regional met office director refuses to take them seriously, just like Tom. After the facts prove Eric right, the town suffers apocalyptic damage. Eric tells dad he sees one way out.

Plot: A retired agent from an Intelligence Agency is contacted by the Agency in order to stop an ultra-secret robot who is killing some government officials. That will be not an easy task, because the robot looks human and it was specifically builded to be an efficient killer, not to mention that it is almost invulnerable.

Plot: A young man returns home after a three year tour of duty in the navy only to find things are somewhat different from when he left. His kid sister has grown into a young woman, the job he thought was waiting for him turns out to have some unique conditions, and perhaps most importantly his former sweetheart has married a wealthy and much older man. Disillusioned, he drifts from job to job while trying hard to avoid the advances of his former girlfriend, who is unhappy in her marriage and longs for something extra. While all he wants to do is make something of his life, his will power will be put to the ultimate test.

He meets Ben's sister, Ann (Peggy Castle), and this leads to a conflict with Cook's nephew, Clay (Henry Brandon), who has his own plans for Ann that does not include her kid brother and his dog. The trip west has a lot of problems, mostly Indian raids by a tribe who are buying rifles from two members of the wagon train. Which two? Rest assured it ain't the kid and his dog.

Plot: Plot here has Confederate veteran Jeff Waring arriving in Independence, Missouri shortly after the Civil War, and intending never again to use a gun. He finds that rancher Artemus Taylor, an arthritic despot, and his henchies, Sam Tobin and Cree, are forcing out the settlers in order to claim their land for the incoming railroad. The plot nearly predates "The Great Train Robbery" in age but the gritty execution and well-acted performances take it out of the norm... way out, in a couple of instances. Brassy Myrna Dell is on hand as Taylor's independent daughter, only slightly less meaner than her father, and the always welcome Dorothy Malone is the pretty school marm on the side of good. Needless to say, Ireland's passive outlook on life changes before the end.

Plot: Kay Williams, an executive with Styles, Inc., is true to her absent husband Bill despite much harassment for dates from co-workers. But when Bill finally returns from Europe, it becomes increasingly evident to Kay that he has been a world- class philanderer. Still loving him, Kay decides to take gentle revenge by making him think she does likewise. Ensuing comic events ridicule the double standard at every opportunity.

Plot: Slocum and Pruitt are two bumbling private detectives tracking a mad scientist, "Baby-Face" Wessell," who looks like he just stepped out of a 1930s Universal horror film. They get involved with secret panels, an ape, underground tunnels and mis-matched stock footage.

Plot: Mild mannered zoology professor Dr. David Huxley is excited by the news that an intercostal clavicle bone has been found to complete his brontosaurus skeleton, a project four years in the construction. He is equally excited about his imminent marriage to his assistant, the officious Alice Swallow, who is interested in him more for his work than for him as a person. David needs the $1 million endowment of wealthy dowager Mrs. Carleton Random to complete the project. Her lawyer, Alexander Peabody, will make the decision on her behalf, so David needs to get in his favor. However, whenever David tries to make a good impression on Peabody, the same young woman always seems to do something to make him look bad. She is the flighty heiress Susan Vance. The more David wants Susan to go away, the more Susan seems not to want or be able to. But David eventually learns that Alexander Peabody is her good friend, who she calls Boopy, and Susan's Aunt Elizabeth, with whom David has also made a bad impression without her knowing who he is, is Mrs. Carleton Random. However getting in Aunt Elizabeth and Boopy's good graces is not as easy as Susan smoothing the waters with them. Throw into the mix a tame pet leopard named Baby that Susan's brother Mark inexplicably sends her from Brazil, Aunt Elizabeth's big game hunting friend Major Horace Applegate, Aunt Elizabeth's pet terrier George who has a penchant for burying bones and other things, and a traveling circus passing through town and David may never be able to finish his project or make it to his wedding. But David may come to the realization that there is something more important in his life.

Farmer Joaquin Murrieta revenges the death of his wife against the four Americans who killed her and is branded an outlaw. The reward for his capture is increased as he subsequently kills the men who brutally murder his brother. Joining with bandit Three Fingered Jack, Murrieta raises an army of disaffected Mexicans and goes on a rampage against the Americans, finally forcing his erstwhile friend, Bill Warren, to lead a posse against him.

The career of Joshua Slocum, one of the 19th Century's most successful sea captains collapsed with the end of the Age of Sail...until he was given a 100 year old rotting oyster boat and decided to use it to become the first person ever to sail around the world - alone. His colorful life and remarkable voyage are captured for the first time in this program. Captain Slocum commanded some of the finest tall ships that ever sailed the seas. On April 24, 1895, at the age of 51, he departed Boston in his tiny sloop Spray and sailed around the world single-handed, a passage of 46,000 miles, returning to Newport, Rhode Island on June 27,...
http://www.rockislandauction.com/viewitem/aid/1025/lid/2176 The Slocum revolver, designed by Frank Slocum and manufactured by the Brooklyn Arms Company, was one of the more successful workarounds for Rollin White's patent on the bored-through cylinder. The most significant advantage of Slocum's design was its use of standard .32 rimfire cartridges, unlike most other workarounds which used proprietary ammunition. Slocum did this by using a very clever chamber sleeve idea, in which the chambers are actually separate removable pieces that fit in the cylinder.

In 1904 the General Slocum caught fire and sank in the East River of New York City. At the time of the accident she was on a chartered run carrying members of St. Mark's Evangelical Lutheran Church to a church picnic. An estimated 1,021 of the 1,342 people on board died. The General Slocum disaster was the New York area's worst disaster in terms of loss of life until the September 11, 2001 attacks.
A glider (Slocum) animation in the ocean. These autonomous underwater vehicles (AUVs) sample the ocean for researchers, the gliders can fly by changing their buoyancy. This makes them sink or rise in the water column. By using their fins and internal weight displacement they use the up or downward motion to glide forward through the ocean. "Something S.P.E.C.I.A.L." is a series that will teach you to cook dishes seen in Fallout 4 done in the game's signature style. In this episode you'll learn to make a coffee infused yeast donut, known in game as Slocum's Buzzbites. The opening sequence is a direct homage to that 1930's classic "Reefer Madness." Conversions for this recipe: - mirelurk egg = chicken egg - razorgrain = all purpose flour - oil = vegetable shortening - dirty water = tap water - Slocum's Joe coffee = instant coffee crystals

I never thought U would be the one
That I'd wanna run 2
I never thought U would be the one
That would make me care
And even tho U done me wrong
4 some strange reason I can't xplain
I get happy knowing U phoned
Cuz your voice could kill my every pain
Why do we play this silly game?
I never thought U would be the one
That I'd wanna give 2
A diamond ring, anything that U ask me 2
But there U were, bragging 2 your friends
Making up a story that's so lame
That I was down 2 be your sugardaddy
One way ticket to ghetto fame
Why do we play this silly game?
Every other night U weren't at home
Out in the streets, just acting grown
Never with a bodyguard or chaperone
Then I hear a rumour that breaks my heart
Instead of taking care of yourself
U're tearing yourself apart
Now why U wanna
(Why U wanna, why U wanna ...)
Now why U wanna go and do that, love?
Why do we play this silly game?
I never thought U would be the one
(That I'd wanna run 2) that I'd wanna run 2
I never thought U'd be the one
That would make me care
No matter how far I run
I'll never be the same (I'll never be the same)
In the end, in the end, there's only us 2 blame
Why do we play this ...
Why do we play this silly ...
Why do we play this silly game?
Yeah
Ooh-ooh
Tell me why? (Tell me why?)
Oh why? (Oh why?)
Oh why - why?
Why do we play this silly game?
