The opioid crisis has become a national emergency. Overdose is now the leading cause of death for Americans under 50 -- worse than car crashes or gun violence.
But the epidemic is more than just numbers. And to understand it, you have to go to the communities it's tearing apart.
VICE News visits McPherson Square Park and Library in the Kensington neighborhood of Philadelphia. We meet a librarian who routinely revives dying addicts, a longtime resident who collects dozens of used syringes every day, and a former college athlete struggling with addiction.

Whitney has been working hard in the gym. Along with gaining new skills and confidence, comes sore and tight muscles. Whitney’s physical therapist helps her through most of these issues with massage, stretching, and exercise. But, every now and then when Whitney’s calves are extremely tight, she gets dry needling therapy. In this video, you can see that this therapy might not be for everyone, but Whitney likes it because it makes her feel better.
Dry needling is a treatment that involves a very thin needle being pushed through the skin in order to stimulate a trigger point. This form of alternative therapy is used to release tight muscle bands that are associated with trigger point, or hard “knots” within a muscle that can cause pain over a large area.

Dry needling, also known as myofascial trigger point dry needling, is the use of either solid filiform needles (also referred to as acupuncture needles) or hollow-core hypodermic needles for therapy of muscle pain, including pain related to myofascial pain syndrome. Dry needling is sometimes also known as intramuscular stimulation (IMS). Acupuncture is a broad category of needling practices with solid filiform needles. Modern acupuncture notably includes both traditional and Western medical acupuncture; dry needling is arguably one subcategory of western medical acupuncture.

Game of Thrones
Game of Thrones is an American fantasy drama television series created by showrunners David Benioff and D. B. Weiss. It is an adaptation of A Song of Ice and Fire, George R. R. Martin's series of fantasy novels, the first of which is titled A Game of Thrones. It is filmed in a Belfast studio and on location elsewhere in Croatia, Iceland, Malta, Morocco, Northern Ireland, Spain, Scotland, and the United States, and premiered on HBO in the United States on April 17, 2011. The series has been renewed for a sixth season, which will premiere on April 24, 2016.
The series is set on the fictional continents of Westeros and Essos, and interweaves several plot lines with a large ensemble cast. The first narrative arc follows a civil war among several noble houses for the Iron Throne of the Seven Kingdoms; the second covers the attempts to reclaim the throne by the exiled last scion of the realm's deposed ruling dynasty; the third chronicles the rising threat of the impending winter and the legendary creatures and fierce peoples of the North.

We are prisoners in our own country, held hostage by our own government. Many of us now believe the government was directly responsible for the attacks in the mid-west that killed so many. They used our fear to seize control. The general population starves while the corporate government grows fat. People began to take to the streets, protesting, demanding the truth. The government fought back, detaining and executing thousands in a purge of suspected insurgents. What began as civil unrest may soon become a full scale civil war. This is America. The time is now. Whitney has been working hard in the gym. Along with gaining new skills and confidence, comes sore and tight muscles. Whitney’s physical therapist helps her through most of these issues with massage, stretching, and exercise. But, every now and then when Whitney’s calves are extremely tight, she gets dry needling therapy. In this video, you can see that this therapy might not be for everyone, but Whitney likes it because it makes her feel better.
Dry needling is a treatment that involves a very thin needle being pushed through the skin in order to stimulate a trigger point. This form of alternative therapy is used to release tight muscle bands that are associated with trigger point, or hard “knots” within a muscle that can cause pain over a large area.

Dry needling, also known as myofascial trigger point dry needling, is the use of either solid filiform needles (also referred to as acupuncture needles) or hollow-core hypodermic needles for therapy of muscle pain, including pain related to myofascial pain syndrome. Dry needling is sometimes also known as intramuscular stimulation (IMS). Acupuncture is a broad category of needling practices with solid filiform needles. Modern acupuncture notably includes both traditional and Western medical acupuncture; dry needling is arguably one subcategory of western medical acupuncture.

NEEDLE EAR PIERCING MY DAUGHTERS
In today's vlog, the girls are doing needle ear piercing. Why is it so special for a girl to get an earring? M&M; had her ears pierced at Claire's when she was 8. It has not gone well, so we brought the girls to a tattoo parlor this time. I have heard that the needle method of piercing is better because it doesn't leave scar tissue. It's hard to say who was most nervous, Sunshine because it was her first time piercing or M&M; because it was her second piercing. I do think watching the needle made M&M; more nervous. Too bad she didn't go first. The girls are so excited to have pierced ears. They cannot wait to change their earrings! So far their ears are healing nicely. Many people ask "What is ASMR - Autonomous Sensory Meridian Response?"
All the ASMR videos are about creating trigger sounds or visuals that stimulate responses of well being, bliss, relaxation and a host of other joyful expressions. Only a small percentage of people are triggered by these sounds and visuals. Which makes everyone else wonder why on earth we are listening and watching these videos.
Do you ever hear sounds that make you feel relaxed? White noise, people talking in the distance, repetitive sounds? Did your parents ever read books or tell you stories until you fell asleep? Did the sound of their voice make you feel safe and comfortable and it didn't really matter what they were saying...and you gently drifted off to sleep? Other sounds include drawing sounds, brushing, rubbing, tearing, tapping, crinkling, crushing sounds. I really enjoy the relaxing sounds of walking on dried leaves and pebbles as I walk through the park.
Sometimes people are triggered by visual images as well. Like watching someones hands doing something repetitive, like squishing clay or making something. For others the trigger is a deep since of connection with someone, which includes lots of eye contact, soft speaking and/or whispering and being payed attention to in detail. So, many of these videos revolve around role playing such as personal grooming, hair cutting, shampooing hair, applying nail polish, giving a massage or facial or even, doing a personal exam, like an eye or ear exam.
