Sanjeev Kumar (born Harihar Jethalal Jariwala;Gujarati: હરિભાઈ જરીવાલા) 9 July 1938 – 6 November 1985) was a noted Indian film actor. He won several major awards including two National Film Awards for Best Actor for his performances in the movies Dastak (1971) and Koshish (1973). He acted in genres ranging from romantic drama to thrillers. Unlike his peers, Sanjeev Kumar did not mind playing roles that were non-glamorous, such as characters way beyond his age. Movies like Sholay and Trishul exemplify his talents. He is well remembered for his versatility and genuine portrayal of his characters.
Early life and background
Sanjeev Kumar, born Harihar Jethalal Jariwala in Bombay, Maharashtra, (also referred as Haribhai) to a Gujarati family spent his early years in Surat. His family eventually settled in Mumbai. A stint in a film school led him to Bollywood, where he eventually became an accomplished actor. Sanjeev Kumar had two younger brothers and one sister.

One such story is of the most amazing actor of all-time, Sanjeev Kumar. He was not only the most sought after actors of his time but was also a hot favourite among women. But, our Haribhai (his real name) lost his heart to the dream-girl of Bollywood, Hema Malini.
It is believed that his love for Hema was so deep that he was never able to love anyone else. He was passionately in love and even proposed to her. But, a major setback in his life came when Hema Malini refused his proposal and got married to Dharmendra. He was completely shattered. Itni Si Baat (1981) Full Hindi Movie | Sanjeev Kumar, Moushumi Chatterjee, Madan Puri, Dinesh Hingoo
The movie story deals with Raja, one day while travelling on the BEST bus in Bombay, He produces a 100 rupee note to buy a 50 paisa bus ticket, and is made fun of by the bus conductor, and asked to leave the bus. Asha, who is travelling on the same bus, pays for his fare, and he tells her that he will re-pay this loan after he gets some change. He does not get the change, and instead loses the 100 rupee note, but makes his way into Asha's heart. Both fall in love, and get married. They live in harmony for several years, and become proud parents of two children. With their growing family, Raja's income is just not enough to make ends, and Asha decides to get a job. Raja decides to stay at home and look after the household chores, and the kids. What happens is that there is chaos at work for...

Basu Chatterjee's 'Tumhare Liye' tells the tale of lost love, sacrifice and reincarnation.
Synopsis:Gauri (Vidya Sinha) and Prakash (Sanjeev Kumar) are in love and get intimate. Prakash is expected to marry Renuka (Neelam Mehra), as she meets his family's approval; but he chooses Gauri. But after marriage, Gauri starts behaving strangely. She falls ill, and is hospitalized. It is here that the truth surfaces about the past lives of Gauri and Prakash. In their past birth, they were lovers - Gangadhar Upadhyay and Gauri- and Renuka was Kalavati, who loved Gangadhar. During their previous births, too, Gauri had got pregnant, fallen ill, and died because of Kalavati's interference. The child in Gauri's womb did not survive, resulting in Gangadhar's death. In the present birth, the only way Prakash can survive is if someone who loves him sacrifices her life for him. And that person cannot be Gauri, as her death will lead to the death of the child in her womb, and subsequently to Prakash's death. Renuka is now prepared to kill Gauri so she can get Prakash all to herself. This movie inspired many other movies in later years.

He does not get the change, and instead loses the 100 rupee note, but makes his way into Asha's heart. Both fall in love, and get married. They live in harmony for several years, and become proud parents of two children. With their growing family, Raja's income is just not enough to make ends, and Asha decides to get a job. Raja decides to stay at home and look after the household chores, and the kids. What happens is that there is chaos at work for Asha, and at home for Raja, with alround hilarious results.

An Interview with Bollywood Silver Jublee star Rajendra Kumar. Interview was beautifully conducted by Ms Sarita Sabarwal ji and photograhed by Dr Vineet Kumar. This is an unedited version, the interview was on air on a TV channel "ASIANET" in 1997. The interview was shot in between the shooting for a TV Drama/Film Rasm-o-riwaz shot in UK. The producer was Mr Gurcharan Gossal and I worked as dialogue writer, cameraman and assistant director. We were lucky enough to be with Mr Rajendra Kumar for four days day and night. We travelled together in same car/texi/other means and lived those 4 memorable days to their fullest. I was very lucky to have lot of interaction with Mr Kumar and although he felt the schedule very tiring but always appreciated my work. I remember once we were filming a song with some tongue twisting words and the shot got stuck, we did about 10-15 takes but each time it did not work.. he suggested to stop the shooting for a short break... during this break I approached him and explained the meaning of those words... and went through the sequence... he gave a amazing shot straight after the break.... then he asked me "where are you from", I said "Lucknow".. and he said (in Hindi) "Only people form Lucknow can have such good Hindi and Urdu", a big compliment for me and Lucknow.

One such story is of the most amazing actor of all-time, Sanjeev Kumar. He was not only the most sought after actors of his time but was also a hot favourite among women. But, our Haribhai (his real name) lost his heart to the dream-girl of Bollywood, Hema Malini.
It is believed that his love for Hema was so deep that he was never able to love anyone else. He was passionately in love and even proposed to her. But, a major setback in his life came when Hema Malini refused his proposal and got married to Dharmendra. He was completely shattered. Well, many even say that this rejection was the reason for Sanjeev Kumar to remain a bachelor for his entire life.
