He was known for bringing in 'neo-noir' and style in Indian cinema since black & white times, and also as a "women's director" because he showcased actresses at their best. He is often credited for the success of actors such as Dev Anand. Starting his career under Guru Dutt, he went on make hit films like, C.I.D. (1956), Woh Kaun Thi? (1964), Mera Saaya (1966), Dostana (1980) and Main Tulsi Tere Aangan Ki (1978), which won the Filmfare Best Movie Award. His early background in classical music ensured that most of his films excelled in music.

Raj Khosla
Raj Khosla (Hindi: राज खोसला; 31 May 1925 – 9 June 1991) was one of the top directors, producer and screenwriter in Hindi films from the 1950s to the 1980s. He was known for bringing in "neo-noir" and style in Indian cinema since black & white times, and also as a "women's director" because he showcased actresses at their best. He is often credited for the success of actors such as Dev Anand. Starting his career under Guru Dutt, he went on make hit films like, C.I.D. (1956), Woh Kaun Thi? (1964), Mera Saaya (1966), Dostana (1980) and Main Tulsi Tere Aangan Ki (1978), which won the Filmfare Best Movie Award. His early background in classical music ensured that most of his films excelled in music.
Early life
Born in Ludhiana, Punjab, he was trained to be a classical singer. He came to Bombay to look for work as a singer while working in All India Radio for while as a music staff.
Film career
Soon Dev Anand felt he had other talents and hired him to be Guru Dutt's assistant on films, and eventually he became director. His most famous films are C.I.D. (1956) (which introduced Waheeda Rehman to Hindi audiences and made her a star), Woh Kaun Thi? (1964) (which gave Sadhana her signature role of the "mystery girl"), Do Badan (1966) (which made Asha Parekh into a serious actress and won Simi Garewal the Filmfare Best Supporting Actress Award), Do Raaste (1969) (which made Mumtaz into a household name), Main Tulsi Tere Aangan Ki (1978) (which won Nutan the Filmfare Best Actress Award at a mature age).

Rajveer Singh Khosla (May 31, 1925 -- 9 June 1991) was one of the top directors, producer and screenwriter in Hindi films from the 1950s to the 1980s. He was known for bringing in 'neo-noir' and style in Indian cinema since black & white times, and also as a "women's director" because he showcased actresses at their best. He is often credited for the success of actors such as Dev Anand. Starting his career under Guru Dutt, he went on make hit films like, C.I.D. (1956), Woh Kaun Thi? (1964), Mera Saaya (1966), Dostana (1980) and Main Tulsi Tere Aangan Ki (1978), which won the Filmfare Best Movie Award. His early background in classical music ensured that most of his films excelled in music.

Synopsis : A newspaper editor, Shrivastav, is killed when he was about to expose the underworld links of a very rich and influential person. C.I.D. Inspector Shekhar is assigned to this case, an investigation of which leads him to suspect Dharamdas and his men. But Dharamdas spins a web of lies and deceit, and Shekhar himself becomes a suspect, and is arrested by the police, and loses his job, leaving Dharamdas and his men to carry on undeterred.

Bombai Ka Baboo is a musical romantic blockbuster Hindi film directed by Raj Khosla and written by Rajinder Singh Bedi.
The film stars Dev Anand and Suchitra Sen in her rare appearance in Hindi cinema.
Though the film was a thriller, it treads into rare Hindi film territory by hinting at incest between the lead pair.
Except for the "Brother-Sister" angle, the plot of Bombai Ka Babu is inspired by O. Henry's short story, A Double-Dyed Deceiver. The story of the movie Zameer starring Amitabh Bachchan is very similar to this movie.
Film and Music expert Rajesh Subramanian opines that it was Waheeda Rehman who sang the popular Telugu hit "Eruvaka Sagaroo Rannoo Chinnananna" on the behest of S D Burman and Dada Burman used the same tune for the title song "Dekhne mein bhola hai".
With classic songs like 'Chal ri sajni, ab kya soche', by Mukesh, and 'Deewana mastana hua Dil' by Mohd. Rafi and Asha Bhosle, the film was a musical masterpiece, with music by S. D. Burman and lyrics by Majrooh Sultanpuri. IMDb Rating 7.5/10
Babu and Malik are two inseparable friends who live in a small town in India. One day they decide to play a prank and steal something but get caught. While Malik's dad came to bail out and stand as surety for him, Babu has no one to do so and ends up in the juvenile centre. When the two grow up, Malik becomes a Police Inspector, while Babu takes to crime and ends up in jail. When he is released from the jail, he goes to meet his partner-in-crime, Bali, and together they start planning the next heist. Malik meets Babu and tells him to straighten his ways. But Babu had already tried that and ended up being falsely accused of stealing a necklace belonging to his employer's wife. Nevertheless, Babu does inform Bali that he will not be taking part in any crime. Thereafter, Bali and his men are arrested and they blame Babu for ratting on them. Bali is released on bail. When Babu meets him, an argument ensues leading to a fight and Bali is killed. A fearful Babu flees Bombay and lands up in Jogendra Nagar in Northern India, where he meets a man named Bhagat who asks him to masquerade as Kundan, the sole heir of a wealthy man named Shahji. When Babu refuses, Bhagat threatens to notify the Police. Babu becomes Kundan and makes his way into the hearts of Shahji, his wife Rukmani and daughter Maya. Babu gets enough cash to pay off Bhagat in small installments but Bhagat becomes greedy and wants Babu to steal all the cash and jewellery and abscond. Babu is reluctant to steal from the kind people. To make matters worse, he has fallen in love with Maya - apparently his 'sister'. Caught between a rock and a hard place - no matter what move Babu makes - he will surely end up trapping himself - not only with Bhagat, but with his new found family as well as the police - who are now hot on his trail.

Mumtaz was born to Abdul Saleem Askari and Shadi Habib Agha in Mumbai, India, on 31 July 1947. She entered Hindi cinema at age 12. She started as an extra in films in the early 1960s like Boxer, Samson, Tarzan, and King Kong. In the 1960s, she starred in as many as 16 action films with freestyle wrestler Dara Singh and was labelled as a stunt film heroine. Dara Singh-Mumtaz pair had 10 of the 16 films as box office hits. Mumtaz was born to Abdul Saleem Askari and Shadi Habib Agha in Mumbai, India, on 31 July 1947. She entered Hindi cinema at age 12. She started as an extra in films in the early 1960s like Boxer, Samson, Tarzan, and King Kong. In the 1960s, she starred in as many as 16 action films with freestyle wrestler Dara Singh and was labelled as a stunt film heroine. Dara Singh-Mumtaz pair had 10 of the 16 films as box office hits.
She first gained attention in a supporting role as a vamp in the A grade color hit film Mere Sanam (1965). She gained major attention when she played one of Dilip Kumar's leading ladies in Ram Aur Shyam (1967). The film became one of the top hits of the year, and she received her first Filmfare nomination as Best Supporting Actress. She supported Sharmila Tagore in several films in the late 1960s, such as for Saawan Ki Ghata, Yeh Raat Phir Na Aayegi, and Mere Humdum Mere Dost. She had a memorable song and dance number "Aaj Kal Tere Mere" with her co-star Shammi Kapoor in the hit film Brahmachari (1968). It took Raj Khosla's blockbuster Do Raaste (1969) starring Rajesh Khanna to finally make Mumtaz a full-fledged star. When earlier, she had played a small role as Rajendra Kumar's sister in Gehra Daag, now she was elevated to playing his leading lady in Tangewala. Shashi Kapoor who had earlier refused to work with her in Saccha Jootha because she was a "stunt film heroine" now wanted her to be his heroine in Chor Machaye Shor.
Mumtaz acted in 108 films in a career that spanned just 15 years till 1977. She won the Filmfare Best Actress Award for one of her favorite films Khilona in 1970. Mumtaz acted with Dharmendra, Feroz Khan, Sanjeev Kumar and Biswajeet but her pairing opposite Rajesh Khanna was the most popular with the audience and critics alike. Mumtaz had 8 super hits opposite Rajesh Khanna as the solo lead hero in the period 1969-1975.
In 1996 she received the Filmfare Lifetime Achievement Award. In June 2008, she was honored for her "Achievement in Indian Cinema" by the International Indian Film Academy (IIFA) in Bangkok.
