Cambridge Vlog 73 | There are lots of myths surrounding entry requirements for Cambridge. The admissions process is not as mysterious as you think. It's not so much a set of hurdles for you to overcome but rather a situation in which you present an admissions tutor with a complete picture of yourself. This is everything including your personal statement, your AS results, predicted grades, reference, interviews, entrance exams, etc. They will then assess you based on everything together. If you're an exceptional candidate overall but did badly in one AS subject that won't automatically cost you your place. At the end of the day, it's humans who decide whether to give you an offer or not.
I also moaned about doing laundry a lot in this video.

Sólo 120.000 habitantes, pero una referencia mundial en el campo educativo. Y es que en la prestigiosa universidad de Cambridge, corazón de esta ciudad, han estudiado hasta 90 premios Nobel. Cultura, deporte y los tradicionales pubs completan una oferta turística al alcance de cualquiera.
Alejandra nos cita en Magdalene's Bridge, el primer puente de Cambridge, y nos habla de la universidad como motor de la ciudad y como auténtica forma de vida. Conseguimos permiso excepcionalmente para grabar en el interior del Saint John College, uno de los 31 "colegios mayores". Y entre capillas e iglesias, damos con una muy particular: Saint Michael's, del siglo XIV, que funciona además como cafetería. Paseamos por parques y jardines como Castle Hill o Jesus Green y nos desplazamos a Stratford upon-Avon, a unas dos horas al oeste y a pocos kilómetros de Birmingham, para conocer la casa natal de William Shakespeare.
Con Sara visitamos Market Square, donde hay un mercado permanente y paseamos por el centro. Cambridge North is the new train station in Cambridge which features a mathematical design. The architects said the design was "derived from John Conway's Game of Life". Except it's not the Game of Life. It is Stephan Wolfram's Rule 135.

"Let me assure you it is the correct answer. We turned the pattern through 45 degrees, distorted the pixels to a slightly elongated diamond and played about with the panel dimensions to ensure the maximum gathering of openings around eye level for the passengers using the station. What we liked most about rule 30 was it was as close as we could find to a “random” non repeating pattern.

for the launch of the campaign for the University and Colleges of Cambridge, 16-18 October 2015

At the occasion of a fundraising campaign organized by the University of Cambridge in King's College Chapel on 17th October 2015, Artichoke invited the artist Miguel Chevalier to create a series of immersive projections to accompany the speeches of renowned professors and alumni including Sir Ian McKellen, Professor Chistopher Dobson, Professor Carol Brayne and Sir David Attenborough, and concluded by an unannounced appearance by the world-famous physicist Stephen Hawking, known for his work on black holes.
This was the first time that the University of Cambridge had invited an artist to make a work of art in the Chapel.
For the event, Miguel Chevalier imagines a number of different graphic universes, which are generated in real time and use their own “digital” language to illustrate and interpret a wide variety of subjects including Academic Excellence, Health, Africa, Biology, Neurosciences, Physics, Biotechnologies…
We discover colourful living universe constantly renewed. Everything floats, branches out, appears and disappears, always turning into something else. Colored lines of light sketch out mental landscapes before our very eyes.
To illustrate Stephen Hawking's research about black holes, Miguel Chevalier imagines an immersive environment made up of thousands of constellations that plunge the guests into the mystery of the universe. In the same spirit, each of the projections entices the audience into a magical and poetic atmosphere where science meets spirituality.
The site-specific installation highlights the architecture of the 16th century Chapel through light and highlights the high technicality of the cathedral's fan vaults, one of the finest examples of late Perpendicular Gothic English architecture. The soft light and the wealth of colours from the digital installation is in resonance also with the light from the stained glass windows. The installation gives the building life before our eyes, creating an unprecedented visual experience.
This digital installation is a celebration of the open-mindedness and the highness of research of Cambridge University.

Cambridge
Cambridge (/ˈkeɪmbrɪdʒ/KAYM-brij) is a university city and the county town of Cambridgeshire, England, on the River Cam about 50 miles (80 km) north of London. At the United Kingdom Census 2011, its population was 123,867, including 24,488 students.
There is archaeological evidence of settlement in the area in the Bronze Age and in Roman Britain; under Viking rule, Cambridge became an important trading centre. The first town charters were granted in the 12th century, although city status was not conferred until 1951.

University of Cambridge
The University of Cambridge (abbreviated as Cantab in post-nominal letters; also known as Cambridge University) is a collegiate public research university in the English town of Cambridge. Founded in 1209, Cambridge is the second oldest university in the English-speaking world and the world's fourth-oldest surviving university. It grew out of an association of scholars who left the University of Oxford after a dispute with the townspeople. The two ancient universities share many common features and are often jointly referred to as "Oxbridge".

Cambridge Vlog 73 | There are lots of myths surrounding entry requirements for Cambridge. The admissions process is not as mysterious as you think. It's not so much a set of hurdles for you to overcome but rather a situation in which you present an admissions tutor with a complete picture of yourself. This is everything including your personal statement, your AS results, predicted grades, reference, interviews, entrance exams, etc. They will then assess you based on everything together. If you're an exceptional candidate overall but did badly in one AS subject that won't automatically cost you your place. Alejandra nos cita en Magdalene's Bridge, el primer puente de Cambridge, y nos habla de la universidad como motor de la ciudad y como auténtica forma de vida. Conseguimos permiso excepcionalmente para grabar en el interior del Saint John College, uno de los 31 "colegios mayores". Y entre capillas e iglesias, damos con una muy particular: Saint Michael's, del siglo XIV, que funciona además como cafetería. Paseamos por parques y jardines como Castle Hill o Jesus Green y nos desplazamos a Stratford upon-Avon, a unas dos horas al oeste y a pocos kilómetros de Birmingham, para conocer la casa natal de William Shakespeare.
Con Sara visitamos Market Square, donde hay un mercado permanente y paseamos por el centro. A unos 40 kilómetros de Cambridge se encuentra Peterborough, donde encontramos la bonita catedral normanda, una de las pocas muestras de este estilo que quedan en Europa, y donde está enterrada una madrileña: Catalina de Aragón. Y en Duxford encontramos el Museo Imperial de la Guerra, uno de los museos bélicos más importantes del mundo.
Mercedes nos enseña el bonito apartamento que alquila justo encima de la estación de Bomberos y la histórica tienda de ropa Ryder and Amies. En Newmarket, a media hora de Cambridge, visitamos la cuna de las carreras de caballos, y de vuelta pasamos por el cementerio americano y conocemos el origen de los tradicionales pubs ingleses. Paseamos por los idílicos prados de Grantchester, en los que se inspiró Lord Byron para escribir sus poemas, y nos tomamos el té en The Orchard Garden.
Por último, quedamos con Noelia en la puerta del King's College, uno de los edificios más fotografiados de Cambridge, y paseamos entre algunos de los principales colegios de la ciudad. Comemos caramelos artesanos y hacemos "punting", es decir, paseamos en barca por el río disfrutando de la grandiosidad de los colleges. Y conocemos los míticos pubs The Eagle, donde se hizo público el descubrimiento del ADN, y The Anchor, donde comenzó a tocar el grupo Pink Floyd.

Alejandra nos cita en Magdalene's Bridge, el primer puente de Cambridge, y nos habla de la universidad como motor de la ciudad y como auténtica forma de vida. Conseguimos permiso excepcionalmente para grabar en el interior del Saint John College, uno de los 31 "colegios mayores". Y entre capillas e iglesias, damos con una muy particular: Saint Michael's, del siglo XIV, que funciona además como cafetería. Paseamos por parques y jardines como Castle Hill o Jesus Green y nos desplazamos a Stratford upon-Avon, a unas dos horas al oeste y a pocos kilómetros de Birmingham, para conocer la casa natal de William Shakespeare.
Con Sara visitamos Market Square, donde hay un mercado permanente y paseamos por el centro. A unos 40 kilómetros de Cambridge se encuentra Peterborough, donde encontramos la bonita catedral normanda, una de las pocas muestras de este estilo que quedan en Europa, y donde está enterrada una madrileña: Catalina de Aragón. Y en Duxford encontramos el Museo Imperial de la Guerra, uno de los museos bélicos más importantes del mundo.
Mercedes nos enseña el bonito apartamento que alquila justo encima de la estación de Bomberos y la histórica tienda de ropa Ryder and Amies. En Newmarket, a media hora de Cambridge, visitamos la cuna de las carreras de caballos, y de vuelta pasamos por el cementerio americano y conocemos el origen de los tradicionales pubs ingleses. Paseamos por los idílicos prados de Grantchester, en los que se inspiró Lord Byron para escribir sus poemas, y nos tomamos el té en The Orchard Garden.
Por último, quedamos con Noelia en la puerta del King's College, uno de los edificios más fotografiados de Cambridge, y paseamos entre algunos de los principales colegios de la ciudad. Comemos caramelos artesanos y hacemos "punting", es decir, paseamos en barca por el río disfrutando de la grandiosidad de los colleges. We turned the pattern through 45 degrees, distorted the pixels to a slightly elongated diamond and played about with the panel dimensions to ensure the maximum gathering of openings around eye level for the passengers using the station. What we liked most about rule 30 was it was as close as we could find to a “random” non repeating pattern.

At the occasion of a fundraising campaign organized by the University of Cambridge in King's College Chapel on 17th October 2015, Artichoke invited the artist Miguel Chevalier to create a series of immersive projections to accompany the speeches of renowned professors and alumni including Sir Ian McKellen, Professor Chistopher Dobson, Professor Carol Brayne and Sir David Attenborough, and concluded by an unannounced appearance by the world-famous physicist Stephen Hawking, known for his work on black holes.
This was the first time that the University of Cambridge had invited an artist to make a work of art in the Chapel.
For the event, Miguel Chevalier imagines a number of different graphic universes, which are generated in real time and use their own “digital” language to illustrate and interpret a wide variety of subjects including Academic Excellence, Health, Africa, Biology, Neurosciences, Physics, Biotechnologies…
We discover colourful living universe constantly renewed. Everything floats, branches out, appears and disappears, always turning into something else. Colored lines of light sketch out mental landscapes before our very eyes.
To illustrate Stephen Hawking's research about black holes, Miguel Chevalier imagines an immersive environment made up of thousands of constellations that plunge the guests into the mystery of the universe. In the same spirit, each of the projections entices the audience into a magical and poetic atmosphere where science meets spirituality.
The site-specific installation highlights the architecture of the 16th century Chapel through light and highlights the high technicality of the cathedral's fan vaults, one of the finest examples of late Perpendicular Gothic English architecture. The soft light and the wealth of colours from the digital installation is in resonance also with the light from the stained glass windows. The installation gives the building life before our eyes, creating an unprecedented visual experience.
This digital installation is a celebration of the open-mindedness and the highness of research of Cambridge University.

Unfortunately there was no chance of any trails due to the weather, we were lucky enough to get any clips out doors, but both Damo and Bob didn't seem bothered and still came through with tons of solid clips, while Cam put pegs on and learnt every trick possible abroad his new signature RD frame which will be available in a couple of weeks from www.amitybikeco.com
By the time you read this, Bob would've had surgery on his wrist after descovering he has been riding for months on a major broken scaphoid, so this is all you'll see from Bob for a few months while he heals up, but my god does he kill it!

It's not just its tightly packed core of exquisite architecture, or even the mind-boggling mass of brain power that has passed through its world-famous university, but also it's the sensation of drowning in history, tradition and quirky ritual that only seems to deepen the more you discover. Cambridge Vlog 73 | There are lots of myths surrounding entry requirements for Cambridge. The admissions process is not as mysterious as you think. It's not so much a set of hurdles for you to overcome but rather a situation in which you present an admissions tutor with a complete picture of yourself. This is everything including your personal statement, your AS results, predicted grades, reference, interviews, entrance exams, etc. They will then assess you based on everything together. If you're an exceptional candidate overall but did badly in one AS subject that won't automatically cost you your place. At the end of the day, it's humans who decide whether to give you an offer or not.
I also moaned about doing laundry a lot in this video.

Sólo 120.000 habitantes, pero una referencia mundial en el campo educativo. Y es que en la prestigiosa universidad de Cambridge, corazón de esta ciudad, han estudiado hasta 90 premios Nobel. Cultura, deporte y los tradicionales pubs completan una oferta turística al alcance de cualquiera.
Alejandra nos cita en Magdalene's Bridge, el primer puente de Cambridge, y nos habla de la universidad como motor de la ciudad y como auténtica forma de vida. Conseguimos permiso excepcionalmente para grabar en el interior del Saint John College, uno de los 31 "colegios mayores". Y entre capillas e iglesias, damos con una muy particular: Saint Michael's, del siglo XIV, que funciona además como cafetería. Paseamos por parques y jardines como Castle Hill o Jesus Green y nos desplazamos a Stratford upon-Avon, a unas dos horas al oeste y a pocos kilómetros de Birmingham, para conocer la casa natal de William Shakespeare.

Cambridge North is the new train station in Cambridge which features a mathematical design. The architects said the design was "derived from John Conway's Game of Life". Except it's not the Game of Life. It is Stephan Wolfram's Rule 135.

We turned the pattern through 45 degrees, distorted the pixels to a slightly elongated diamond and played about with the panel dimensions to ensure the maximum gathering of openings around eye level for the passengers using the station. What we liked most about rule 30 was it was as close as we could find to a “random” non repeating pattern.

for the launch of the campaign for the University and Colleges of Cambridge, 16-18 October 2015

At the occasion of a fundraising campaign organized by the University of Cambridge in King's College Chapel on 17th October 2015, Artichoke invited the artist Miguel Chevalier to create a series of immersive projections to accompany the speeches of renowned professors and alumni including Sir Ian McKellen, Professor Chistopher Dobson, Professor Carol Brayne and Sir David Attenborough, and concluded by an unannounced appearance by the world-famous physicist Stephen Hawking, known for his work on black holes.
This was the first time that the University of Cambridge had invited an artist to make a work of art in the Chapel.
For the event, Miguel Chevalier imagines a number of different graphic universes, which are generated in real time and use their own “digital” language to illustrate and interpret a wide variety of subjects including Academic Excellence, Health, Africa, Biology, Neurosciences, Physics, Biotechnologies…
We discover colourful living universe constantly renewed. Everything floats, branches out, appears and disappears, always turning into something else. Colored lines of light sketch out mental landscapes before our very eyes.
To illustrate Stephen Hawking's research about black holes, Miguel Chevalier imagines an immersive environment made up of thousands of constellations that plunge the guests into the mystery of the universe. In the same spirit, each of the projections entices the audience into a magical and poetic atmosphere where science meets spirituality.
The site-specific installation highlights the architecture of the 16th century Chapel through light and highlights the high technicality of the cathedral's fan vaults, one of the finest examples of late Perpendicular Gothic English architecture. The soft light and the wealth of colours from the digital installation is in resonance also with the light from the stained glass windows. The installation gives the building life before our eyes, creating an unprecedented visual experience.
This digital installation is a celebration of the open-mindedness and the highness of research of Cambridge University.

Last weekend myself and Cam drove up to Cambridge, home of Bob Manchester and Damo Wilkinson to shoot this edit before Bob goes under the knife.
Unfortunately there was no chance of any trails due to the weather, we were lucky enough to get any clips out doors, but both Damo and Bob didn't seem bothered and still came through with tons of solid clips, while Cam put pegs on and learnt every trick possible abroad his new signature RD frame which will be available in a couple of weeks from www.amitybikeco.com
By the time you read this, Bob would've had surgery on his wrist after descovering he has been riding for months on a major broken scaphoid, so this is all you'll see from Bob for a few months while he heals up, but my god does he kill it!

Paseamos por los idílicos prados de Grantchester, en los que se inspiró Lord Byron para escribir sus poemas, y nos tomamos el té en The Orchard Garden.
