Alison Riske
Alison Riske (born July 3, 1990 in Pittsburgh) is an American professional tennis player. She has won one WTA title, six singles and one doubles title on the ITF tour. She reached the third round of the Australian Open in 2014, the third round at Wimbledon in 2013 and 2014 and the fourth round of the US Open in 2014. She reached her career high singles ranking of world number 40 on June 9, 2014 and she won her first WTA tour title on October 12, 2014, when she won the Tianjin Open.
Early life and career
The daughter of Al and Carol Riske, she first played tennis at the age of 3 years old after her dad took her out to hit. Her father worked in the Secret Service and later as an FBI investigator, while her mother was a school teacher, but both are now retired. Her sister, Sarah, is also a tennis player who played for Vanderbilt and had a brief professional career, reaching as high as No. 372. Her brother, Dan, played college tennis for West Liberty State, and is now an accountant.

Australian Open
The Australian Open is a major tennis tournament held annually over the last fortnight of January in Melbourne, Australia. First held in 1905, the tournament is chronologically the first of the four Grand Slam tennis events of the year – the other three being the French Open, Wimbledon and the US Open. It features men's and women's singles; men's, women's and mixed doubles and junior's championships; as well as wheelchair, legends and exhibition events. Prior to 1988 the tournament had been played on grass. Since 1988 two types of hardcourt surfaces have been used at Melbourne Park – green Rebound Ace to 2007 and blue Plexicushion from 2008.
The Australian Open typically has high attendance, second only to the US Open. It was also the first Grand Slam tournament to feature indoor play during wet weather or extreme heat with its three primary courts, the Rod Laver Arena, Hisense Arena and the refurbished Margaret Court Arena equipped with retractable roofs.
History
The Australian Open is managed by Tennis Australia, formerly the Lawn Tennis Association of Australia (LTAA), and was first played at the Warehouseman's Cricket Ground in Melbourne in 1905. This facility is now known as the Albert Reserve Tennis Centre.

To help illustrate what I love about the series, I've created this montage from the midseason cliff hanger episode titled KEEP YOUR FRIENDS CLOSE. ------- I've said this before, but I'm saying it again. ABC Family's hit teen drama Pretty Little Liars is one of the most enjoyable guilty pleasures on the tube right now. No, wait. I don't feel the least bit guilty about this one. In fact, if I weren't 612 miles away from my old high school, I'd shout it from its rooftop. This show is the most fun primetime mystery since Laura Palmer was found wrapped in plastic. I mention Twin Peaks because Pretty Little Liars is in every way the bastard step-child of David Lynch's classic dramatic soap. PLL knows how to pull a good homage even though the core audience probably hasn't seen the series its referencing. It starts with a whodunit premise: Alison DiLaurentis - blond high school Queen Bee teen found dead; everyone's a suspect. So far this season we've met Alison in flashbacks, as a ghost and, in true Twin Peaks fashion, in somewhat sultry home movies shot by a possible killer. Enter the FBI agent assigned to the case in the season cliffhanger, named Agent Cooper. Other connections to TP are less obvious. The Audrey of the series is an eccentric blind girl "Jenna," who's another primary suspect given her constant disdain for the four surviving main clique girls: Aria, Hanna, Spencer and Emily. The Bobby Briggs of the series is the creepy step-brother of Jenna named Toby, who's a dead ringer for a mid-80s Crispin Glover. But my love for the show isn't completely tied to my delusion of a linage to Lynch. Pretty Little Liars can't offer the same dark commentary on small town high school politics that the great Twin Peaks did. Plus, the series lacks a consistent essence, and it shifts often from the over-dramatic to the sometimes satirical. But it is all a part of the fun, and dare I also mention that its also a little like the original Melrose Place in that aspect. Oh, no he didn't... But can you blame me for wanting another Melrose or Peaks on the tube? Right now, I want a show that leaves me with a giddy smile on my face each week. A show that's fairly predictable, only at the risk of being dependable. That challenges perceptions of teenagers sexuality (i.e. PLL tastefully executed Lesbian plot line) without resorting to extremes (that means you Skins). That pushes the envelope for what ABC Family brings to the household. That can sustain at least three outrageous plot twists in a single episode, or at least hang on a cliff before each commercial break. That's completely, undoubtably aimed at a demographic I'm nowhere near. To all these and more, I thank thee PRETTY LITTLE LIARS.

After Ever After is a new original musical by Lachlan Hibbert-Wells and Patrick Coyte and a short excerpt from it was performed as part of the Short+Sweet Cabaret festival in January, 2014. The show featured a rather modified plot to fit better within the ten minute guidelines, and two songs, "A Better Kind Of Perfect" and "Take" (lyrics below). To help illustrate what I love about the series, I've created this montage from the midseason cliff hanger episode titled KEEP YOUR FRIENDS CLOSE.

I've said this before, but I'm saying it again. ABC Family's hit teen drama Pretty Little Liars is one of the most enjoyable guilty pleasures on the tube right now.
No, wait.
I don't feel the least bit guilty about this one. In fact, if I weren't 612 miles away from my old high school, I'd shout it from its rooftop. This show is the most fun primetime mystery since Laura Palmer was found wrapped in plastic.
I mention Twin Peaks because Pretty Little Liars is in every way the bastard step-child of David Lynch's classic dramatic soap. PLL knows how to pull a good homage even though the core audience probably hasn't seen the series its referencing.
It starts with a whodunit premise: Alison DiLaurentis - blond high school Queen Bee teen found dead; everyone's a suspect. So far this season we've met Alison in flashbacks, as a ghost and, in true Twin Peaks fashion, in somewhat sultry home movies shot by a possible killer. Enter the FBI agent assigned to the case in the season cliffhanger, named Agent Cooper.
Other connections to TP are less obvious. The Audrey of the series is an eccentric blind girl "Jenna," who's another primary suspect given her constant disdain for the four surviving main clique girls: Aria, Hanna, Spencer and Emily. The Bobby Briggs of the series is the creepy step-brother of Jenna named Toby, who's a dead ringer for a mid-80s Crispin Glover.
But my love for the show isn't completely tied to my delusion of a linage to Lynch. Pretty Little Liars can't offer the same dark commentary on small town high school politics that the great Twin Peaks did. Plus, the series lacks a consistent essence, and it shifts often from the over-dramatic to the sometimes satirical. But it is all a part of the fun, and dare I also mention that its also a little like the original Melrose Place in that aspect.
Oh, no he didn't...
But can you blame me for wanting another Melrose or Peaks on the tube? Right now, I want a show that leaves me with a giddy smile on my face each week. A show that's fairly predictable, only at the risk of being dependable. That challenges perceptions of teenagers sexuality (i.e. PLL tastefully executed Lesbian plot line) without resorting to extremes (that means you Skins). That pushes the envelope for what ABC Family brings to the household. That can sustain at least three outrageous plot twists in a single episode, or at least hang on a cliff before each commercial break. That's completely, undoubtably aimed at a demographic I'm nowhere near.
To all these and more, I thank thee PRETTY LITTLE LIARS.

As fisherman and wildlife continue to make headlines in the aftermath of the BP oil spill, Archeologist, Dr. Edward Jackson has a different story to tell.
He depends on fragile marshes resources along the Gulf Coast, already devastated by Hurricane Katrina, as a vital outdoor laboratory, to study subsistence patterns of past civilizations.
There are over 19,000 archeological sites recorded in MS, some holding some of the highest concentrations of prehistoric evidence in the world, dating back 10,000-12,000 years.
This four-minute video documents Edward Jackson and his team of students from the University of Southern Mississippi (USM), on a "search and rescue" mission to save archeological artifacts from contamination by oil that would make carbon dating impossible.
The group investigates shell middens in order to find clues to how human populations today, can subsist sustainably, based on solutions developed by prehistoric Native American communities.
Although the economic scale is one of subsistence in the past, versus commercial enterprise today, Dr. Jackson insists, that we must salvage lessons of the past in order to understand our options for the future.
The team's research sites, Kenny's Island and Crooked Bayou site, are located off the coast of Moss Point, on the border of Mississippi/Alabama, approximately 110 miles from the epicenter of the Deepwater Horizon spill, and comprise part of the Grand Bay National Wildlife Refuge and Grand Bay National Estuarine Reserv in Moss Point, MS.
As of September, "Archeology Month" in the state of Mississippi, the team is still at work, and the site is considered at high risk for contamination, despite the presence of booms.
Little archeological work has been done in the constellation of sites occupying Grand Bay.
There are opportunities for the public to learn more and/or volunteer.

As fisherman and wildlife continue to make headlines in the aftermath of the BP oil spill, Archeologist, Dr. Edward Jackson has a different story to tell.
He depends on fragile marshes resources along the Gulf Coast, already devastated by Hurricane Katrina, as a vital outdoor laboratory, to study subsistence patterns of past civilizations.
There are over 19,000 archeological sites recorded in MS, some holding some of the highest concentrations of prehistoric evidence in the world, dating back 10,000-12,000 years.
This four-minute video documents Edward Jackson and his team of students from the University of Southern Mississippi (USM), on a "search and rescue" mission to save archeological artifacts from contamination by oil that would make carbon dating impossible.
The group investigates shell middens in order to find clues to how human populations today, can subsist sustainably, based on solutions developed by prehistoric Native American communities.
Although the economic scale is one of subsistence in the past, versus commercial enterprise today, Dr. Jackson insists, that we must salvage lessons of the past in order to understand our options for the future.
The team's research sites, Kenny's Island and Crooked Bayou site, are located off the coast of Moss Point, on the border of Mississippi/Alabama, approximately 110 miles from the epicenter of the Deepwater Horizon spill, and comprise part of the Grand Bay National Wildlife Refuge and Grand Bay National Estuarine Reserv in Moss Point, MS.
As of September, "Archeology Month" in the state of Mississippi, the team is still at work, and the site is considered at high risk for contamination, despite the presence of booms.
Little archeological work has been done in the constellation of sites occupying Grand Bay.
There are opportunities for the public to learn more and/or volunteer.

After Ever After is a new original musical by Lachlan Hibbert-Wells and Patrick Coyte and a short excerpt from it was performed as part of the Short+Sweet Cabaret festival in January, 2014. Moss Adams Spotlight: Alison Sellers on Her Career
Alison Sellers’s 12-year career at Moss Adams started in our Seattle Assurance Practice. After working with several industries, she focused on one—Construction & Real Estate—and had the opportunity to connect with prominent industry leaders early in her career. After eight years, Alison was ready for a change. She took a risk and joined the accounting and auditing team in our national office. It would be a departure from client service, but Alison recognized the position was an opportunity to build on her strengths, improve on her weaknesses, and move her career forward. To help illustrate what I love about the series, I've created this montage from the midseason cliff hanger episode titled KEEP YOUR FRIENDS CLOSE.

I've said this before, but I'm saying it again. ABC Family's hit teen drama Pretty Little Liars is one of the most enjoyable guilty pleasures on the tube right now.
No, wait.
I don't feel the least bit guilty about this one. In fact, if I weren't 612 miles away from my old high school, I'd shout it from its rooftop. This show is the most fun primetime mystery since Laura Palmer was found wrapped in plastic.
I mention Twin Peaks because Pretty Little Liars is in every way the bastard step-child of David Lynch's classic dramatic soap. PLL knows how to pull a good homage even though the core audience probably hasn't seen the series its referencing.
It starts with a whodunit premise: Alison DiLaurentis - blond high school Queen Bee teen found dead; everyone's a suspect. So far this season we've met Alison in flashbacks, as a ghost and, in true Twin Peaks fashion, in somewhat sultry home movies shot by a possible killer. Enter the FBI agent assigned to the case in the season cliffhanger, named Agent Cooper.
Other connections to TP are less obvious. The Audrey of the series is an eccentric blind girl "Jenna," who's another primary suspect given her constant disdain for the four surviving main clique girls: Aria, Hanna, Spencer and Emily. The Bobby Briggs of the series is the creepy step-brother of Jenna named Toby, who's a dead ringer for a mid-80s Crispin Glover.
But my love for the show isn't completely tied to my delusion of a linage to Lynch. Pretty Little Liars can't offer the same dark commentary on small town high school politics that the great Twin Peaks did. Plus, the series lacks a consistent essence, and it shifts often from the over-dramatic to the sometimes satirical. But it is all a part of the fun, and dare I also mention that its also a little like the original Melrose Place in that aspect.
Oh, no he didn't...
But can you blame me for wanting another Melrose or Peaks on the tube? Right now, I want a show that leaves me with a giddy smile on my face each week. A show that's fairly predictable, only at the risk of being dependable. That challenges perceptions of teenagers sexuality (i.e. PLL tastefully executed Lesbian plot line) without resorting to extremes (that means you Skins). That pushes the envelope for what ABC Family brings to the household. That can sustain at least three outrageous plot twists in a single episode, or at least hang on a cliff before each commercial break. That's completely, undoubtably aimed at a demographic I'm nowhere near.
To all these and more, I thank thee PRETTY LITTLE LIARS.

As fisherman and wildlife continue to make headlines in the aftermath of the BP oil spill, Archeologist, Dr. Edward Jackson has a different story to tell.
He depends on fragile marshes resources along the Gulf Coast, already devastated by Hurricane Katrina, as a vital outdoor laboratory, to study subsistence patterns of past civilizations.
There are over 19,000 archeological sites recorded in MS, some holding some of the highest concentrations of prehistoric evidence in the world, dating back 10,000-12,000 years.
This four-minute video documents Edward Jackson and his team of students from the University of Southern Mississippi (USM), on a "search and rescue" mission to save archeological artifacts from contamination by oil that would make carbon dating impossible.
The group investigates shell middens in order to find clues to how human populations today, can subsist sustainably, based on solutions developed by prehistoric Native American communities.
Although the economic scale is one of subsistence in the past, versus commercial enterprise today, Dr. Jackson insists, that we must salvage lessons of the past in order to understand our options for the future.
The team's research sites, Kenny's Island and Crooked Bayou site, are located off the coast of Moss Point, on the border of Mississippi/Alabama, approximately 110 miles from the epicenter of the Deepwater Horizon spill, and comprise part of the Grand Bay National Wildlife Refuge and Grand Bay National Estuarine Reserv in Moss Point, MS.
As of September, "Archeology Month" in the state of Mississippi, the team is still at work, and the site is considered at high risk for contamination, despite the presence of booms.
Little archeological work has been done in the constellation of sites occupying Grand Bay.
There are opportunities for the public to learn more and/or volunteer.

Although the economic scale is one of subsistence in the past, versus commercial enterprise today, Dr. Jackson insists, that we must salvage lessons of the past in order to understand our options for the future.
The team's research sites, Kenny's Island and Crooked Bayou site, are located off the coast of Moss Point, on the border of Mississippi/Alabama, approximately 110 miles from the epicenter of the Deepwater Horizon spill, and comprise part of the Grand Bay National Wildlife Refuge and Grand Bay National Estuarine Reserv in Moss Point, MS.
As of September, "Archeology Month" in the state of Mississippi, the team is still at work, and the site is considered at high risk for contamination, despite the presence of booms.
Little archeological work has been done in the constellation of sites occupying Grand Bay.
There are opportunities for the public to learn more and/or volunteer.

After eight years, Alison was ready for a change. She took a risk and joined the accounting and auditing team in our national office. It would be a departure from client service, but Alison recognized the position was an opportunity to build on her strengths, improve on her weaknesses, and move her career forward. She spent two years there and two at our LA office before returning in 2013 to the national team.
“If you want something here, and you’re vocal about it, you can always bring it up, and they respect you for it,” she says. “The more vocal you are—as long as you’re doing it the right way and really thinking it through—they’ll listen to you and allow you the opportunity, whatever it is.”
