With his usual aplomb, the 27-year-old DJ from Frankfurt compiles the gems of the last twelve months of Cocoon Recordings into a fulminant tour de force, and once again, it's not until this 77-minute-long overall picture that it becomes clear how many superb club moments have accumulated in the Cocoon record case in the past year. Of course, Maetrik's dark and deep particle house "Crush On Me" plays a significant role here, but also Nick Curly's analogue bass-driven hi-energy attack "Sun City" was ranked quite high in last year's reader's charts in Groove Magazine. Besides that, we find Pele's Dub Tech monster out of Rosenheim ("Nothing Else"), the thrilling rework of Guy Gerber's classic "Timing" by the two Athens-based DJs Kassey Voorn and Pete McCarthy, Dinky's surprisingly dirty and song-like declaration of love from the K compilation ("Lovin") and, of course the Ibiza anthem 2011 by Boys Noize ("Adonis") can't be ignored here, too. Tietjen's special DJ quality is once again obvious in his habitually unpretentious DJ mix that nevertheless always has the arc of suspense in focus and respectfully leaves the tracks the compositional air to breathe but gives you the final kick right through the combination of the tracks. And this is exactly the reason why the whole-blood DJ Chris Tietjen has turned from a promising newcomer from the Rhein Main area to one of the most formative DJs in Europe over the last seven years. Das verflixte siebte Jahr vermag Chris Tietjen nichts anzuhaben. Gewohnt souverän packt der 27-jährige Frankfurter DJ die versammelten Juwelen der letzten zwölf Monate bei Cocoon Recordings zu einem fulminanten Parforceritt zusammen, und wieder einmal wird erst in dieser 77-minütigen Gesamtschau so richtig klar, wie viele grandiose Clubmomente da im Hause Cocoon im vergangenen Jahr zusammenkamen. Maetriks düster-deeper Partikel-House „Crush On Me“ spielt dabei natürlich eine herausragende Rolle, aber auch Nick Curlys analog-bassbetonte Hi-NRG-Attacke „Sun City“ wurde in den Leser-Jahrescharts 2011 des Groove Magazins zu Recht hoch gehandelt. Mit dabei sind außerdem Peles Dubtech-Monster out of Rosenheim („Nothing Else“), die spannende Überarbeitung des Guy Gerber-Klassikers „Timing“ von den beiden Athener DJs Kassey Voorn und Pete McCarthy, Dinkys überraschend dirty und songgeneigte Liebeserklärung aus der K-Compilation („Lovin“) und natürlich darf die Ibiza-Hymne 2011 von Boys Noize („Adonis“) ebenfalls nicht fehlen. Die besondere DJ-Qualität Tietjens zeigt sich aber wieder einmal in seinem gewohnt unprätentiösen und dennoch stetig den Spannungsbogen im Fokus habenden DJ-Mix, der den Tracks respektvoll die kompositorische Luft zum Atmen belässt und dennoch erst in der Kombination den entscheidenden Kick setzt. Und genau damit schaffte es der Vollblut-DJ Chris Tietjen in den vergangen sieben Jahren vom vielversprechenden Rhein-Main-Newcomer zu einem der prägendsten DJs Europas.
