British Airways is one of the UK's most visible brands, selling Britishness as a mark of quality. But in the last decade, the business has faced financial crisis and today, more people fly Easyjet than BA. As the airline reaches a turning point, the BBC's cameras have been allowed unique access to its inner world, from top level decisions to the daily challenges of a global operation.
This episode explores how the airline tries to persuade people to spend more to fly, revealing the world found behind the 'millionaire's door' at Heathrow Terminal 5, a lounge, restaurant, spa and champagne bar reserved for those select few who are happy to part with small fortunes to fly in the airline's First Class.
Also this episode, a look at how the airline is playing catch-up with some of its rivals as it brings its first A380, the world's biggest passenger plane, into service. Plus, the programme follows 18 anxious new recruits on their journey to become cabin crew with British Airways. With exacting standards of dress, behaviour and knowledge, not all of them will make it through the 6-week training course, designed to uncover who is - and who is not - BA.

When British Airways purchased the new 787 aircraft they had the chance to fix some of the serious issues with the design of their business class seats....did they take this opportunity??
Well, no.
On this flight review I cover the excellent British Airways first class lounge at Heathrow Terminal 5. I then move to to boarding, take off, the BA business class cabin, the unique British Airways business class seat, the inflight service, crew, meals amenities kit and the entertainment system.
This flight review was primarily filmed on BA from London Heathrow to Cairo, Egypt. However some of the footage is also from a flight from Cairo to Heathrow one week earlier.

Qatar Airways Business Class review.
During the British Airways Cabin Crew Strike, my British Airways flight from London To Tallinn was operated by Qatar Airways.

British airways club Europe flight operated by Qatar Airways
It was an enjoyable experience as the seats were a much improved version with lots more leg room, better width compared to British Airways Standard Club Europe seat which is just a regular economy seat with the middle seat blocked.
Qatar airways operated my British Airways flight to Tallinn, The aircraft was an AL MAHA airways aircraft that never went into service with the airline as it failed to start.

The Qatar airways crew on my flight were fantastic and friendly.
So I enjoyed A Qatar Airways plane with an Al Maha cabin which provided a complete British Airways Club Europe Service.

Who designed this seat????
There are some fantastically well designed business class seats in the sky today - unfortunately British Airways doesn't have any of them.
On this flight review video I road test British Airways business class which they like to call Club World. I cover boarding, take off, the infamous British Airways business class seat, inflight dining and entertainment.
Sorry the camera is a bit shaky on this one - I was transferring from Egypt so the electronics ban meant I couldn't use my normal camera.

British Airways
British Airways, often shortened to BA, is the flag carrier airline of the United Kingdom and the largest airline in the United Kingdom based on fleet size. When measured by passengers carried, it is second-largest in United Kingdom (behind easyJet). The airline is based in Waterside near its main hub at London Heathrow Airport.
A British Airways Board was established by the United Kingdom government in 1972 to manage the two nationalized airline corporations, British Overseas Airways Corporation and British European Airways, and two smaller, regional airlines, Cambrian Airways, from Cardiff, and Northeast Airlines, from Newcastle upon Tyne. On 31 March 1974, all four companies were merged to form British Airways. After almost 13 years as a state company, British Airways was privatised in February 1987 as part of a wider privatisation plan by the Conservative government. The carrier soon expanded with the acquisition of British Caledonian in 1987, followed by Dan-Air in 1992 and British Midland International in 2012.

It was an enjoyable experience as the seats were a much improved version with lots more leg room, better width compared to British Airways Standard Club Europe seat which is just a regular economy seat with the middle seat blocked.
Qatar airways operated my British Airways flight to Tallinn, The aircraft was an AL MAHA airways aircraft that never went into service with the airline as it failed to start.

On this flight review I cover the excellent British Airways first class lounge at Heathrow Terminal 5. I then move to to boarding, take off, the BA business class cabin, the unique British Airways business class seat, the inflight service, crew, meals amenities kit and the entertainment system.
This flight review was primarily filmed on BA from London Heathrow to Cairo, Egypt. However some of the footage is also from a flight from Cairo to Heathrow one week earlier.

It was an enjoyable experience as the seats were a much improved version with lots more leg room, better width compared to British Airways Standard Club Europe seat which is just a regular economy seat with the middle seat blocked.
Qatar airways operated my British Airways flight to Tallinn, The aircraft was an AL MAHA airways aircraft that never went into service with the airline as it failed to start.

Today's flight begins in the tiny terminal building at Aberdeen Airport, after our arrival from Manchester. Our aircraft for today, Airbus A319 G-EUOD is already on stand having just arrived from Heathrow.
Boarding is soon announced and we board the aircraft through the forward air stairs. We take our seat in 2A, with a great view of the engine. Before long boarding is complete, we receive our taxi clearance and taxi out to runway 34.
We take off towards the north and get a fantastic view over eastern Scotland and the Cairngorm Mountains as we head south towards Edinburgh, climbing up to 37,000ft.
Once we reach cruising altitude we are able to sample the new Marks & Spencer food menu onboard today's flight, although unfortunately they only have available a couple of sandwiches and not the salad I'd hoped for.
We continue south towards Manchester and Birmingham, before commencing our descent into London. We don't have to hold on the way in and make our way across the city of London, for a scenic approach onto runway 27L. We get a fantastic view of the entire city of London on this beautiful day, before touching down early on runway 27L. Unfortunately our stand is not yet available however, and we have to sit with our engines running for around 25 minutes ahead of the stand becoming available, before we can taxi in to Terminal 5. We disembark through the airbridge making our way into the terminal, through the transfer channel and into the departure lounge for our next flight.

I was super excited to be flying the worlds largest commercial airliner for the very first time and I was pretty bummed out that I had an aisle seat. Fortunately I was seated on the upper-deck and with the configuration of 2x4x2 seating and the fact that my seatmate was nice enough to let me record out of one of the windows, I was able to get some shaky but decent footage of the takeoff and landing! The flight itself was very smooth with hardly any turbulence! The cabin crew for the most part were very friendly when I interacted with them and they did an excellent job keeping the cabin and lavatories clean (one of my pet peeves) throughout the 7.5 hour flight! Being that it was a 3.5 year old aircraft, the cabin was almost completely spotless and scuff-free! Welcome aboard British Airways flight 213 with service from London Heathrow (LHR) to Boston General Edward Lawrence Logan International Airport! As of March 26, 2017, British Airways became the first airline to operate the Airbus A380-800 (the worlds largest passenger aircraft) out of Boston with a three times weekly service! For those who haven't watched my previous trip report click the link here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Bi_acS_GKsM&t;=7s ) My class trip to the Mediterranean coast is almost over as my class and I have one more hop across the pond back to Boston. I was super excited to be flying the worlds largest commercial airliner for the very first time and I was pretty bummed out that I had an aisle seat. Fortunately I was seated on the upper-deck and with the configuration of 2x4x2 seating and the fact that my seatmate was nice enough to let me record out of one of the windows, I was able to get some shaky but decent footage of the takeoff and landing! The flight itself was very smooth with hardly any turbulence! The cabin crew for the most part were very friendly when I interacted with them and they did an excellent job keeping the cabin and lavatories clean (one of my pet peeves) throughout the 7.5 hour flight! Being that it was a 3.5 year old aircraft, the cabin was almost completely spotless and scuff-free! I am very glad to have been able to get the opportunity to travel to the Mediterranean with my school as well as get the chance to fly on the worlds largest passenger aircraft on a newly-introduced route!
