Bhutan (/buːˈtɑːn/; Dzongkha འབྲུག་ཡུལ Dru Ü, IPA: [ʈʂɦu yː]), officially the Kingdom of Bhutan, is a landlocked country in South Asia at the eastern end of the Himalayas. It is bordered to the north by China and to the south, east and west by India. To the west, it is separated from Nepal by the Indian state of Sikkim, while farther south it is separated from Bangladesh by the Indian states of Assam and West Bengal. Bhutan's capital and largest city is Thimphu.
Bhutan existed as a patchwork of minor warring fiefs until the early 17th century. At that time the lama and military leader Ngawang Namgyal, the first Zhabdrung Rinpoche, who was fleeing religious persecution in Tibet, unified the area and cultivated a distinct Bhutanese identity. In the early 20th century, Bhutan came into contact with the British Empire and retained strong bilateral relations with India upon its independence. In 2006, based on a global survey, Business Week rated Bhutan the happiest country in Asia and the eighth-happiest in the world.
Indilinks News Network is the best portal through which you can share interesting news, photos and videos with your friends and all the people around you. Construction Of Road By China 'Direct Violation': Bhutan Bhutan today accused China of directly violating the agreement between them by constructing a road inside its territory. In a strongly worded statement, Bhutan also asked China to stop constructing the motorable road from Dokola in the Doklam area towards the Bhutan Army camp at Zompelri which it says affects the process of demarcating the boundary between the two countries. The comments by Bhutan come amid an ongoing face-off between Indian and Chinese troops in the Doklam (also known as Donglang) area of the Sikkim sector. Bhutan said it has also issued a demarche to China over the construction of the road and asked Beijing to restore the "status quo" by stopping the work immediately. The feeling in India is that the unila...

The present standoff between Indian and Chinese troops in Doka La (Doklam) is a rare insight into New Delhi’s very special relationship with Bhutan, which includes military responsibilities towards it. In India’s only official statement on the standoff, the Ministry of External Affairs on Friday said that on June 16, a “PLA (People’s Liberation Army) construction party entered the Doklam area and attempted to construct a road. It is our understanding that a Royal Bhutan Army patrol attempted to dissuade them from this unilateral activity.” The MEA statement went on to say that the Foreign Ministry of Bhutan “has also issued a statement underlining that the construction of the road inside Bhutanese territory is a direct violation of the 1988 and 1998 agreements between Bhutan and China an...
The borders depicted in a map released by China to buttress its allegation that Indian troops “trespassed” into its territory in Sikkim sector are in dispute with India and Bhutan’s perception of the frontiers in the region. The map, posted on the Chinese section of the foreign ministry’s website on Friday, is especially different from the Indian perception of the Line of Actual Control in the depiction of the strategic tri-junction of India, Bhutan and China. The Chinese have claimed areas far south of what both India and Bhutan claim – New Delhi’s claim is till Batang La, while Beijing has laid claim to the territory till Mount Gipmochi. The situation is further complicated by Bhutan’s claims. China and Bhutan have a territorial dispute over the location – Donglang or Doklam – where th...

In March 2013. I had a trip to 3 countries which surround the 3 different sides of the Himalaya ranges. They are India, Bhutan and Nepal. I was not going by myself as usual. I was with 13 other Vietnamese men. Never been with such so many men in my life, hehe! My first impression of India started from me being on the Indian airplane. I was frustrated to learn that with over 200 people who were on board, among which there were roughly only about 5 to 6 women. So Indian women don’t fly? Or there are too many Indian men in this world? Reading all those news about raping in India would seriously scared a bit of hell out of me. I knew I was with 13 men but I was not sure even them would be safe, hehe! This is not anything offended, it’s just a fact, so don’t take it too seriously with me! But ...

Shrouded in cloud cover amongst the peaks of the eastern Himalayas, I have found that the Kingdom of Bhutan was one of the most exceptional countries I have been privileged enough to visit, known globally for its friendly people and immense landscape. It has up until recently been a country closed to tourists and even now, access to the country remains difficult, with only 100,000 tourist visas being granted each year. This decision to limit tourism within Bhutan is an idea that was created to maintain the culture and tradition of its people, as well as minimise the environmental footprint that travellers place within the country itself. Led by an enigmatic King, as well as a government that tries to ensure above all else an aspect of politics that is not seen anywhere else in the world - ...

Is it time to smile and rest
Is that all there is
