What dreams are made of

A Perth man who slept in his car so he could be the first to drive on the new Mitchell Freeway extension, has captured the special moment on camera.

Perth man Corey Dullard filmed a hilarious video with his friend, known only as "Kenneth", at around 2.40am on Friday, as he excitedly became the first driver to take to the new six kilometre stretch of road between Burns Beach Road and Hester Avenue.

Mr Dullard broadcast the video on Facebook Live, and it soon became clear he couldn't contain his excitement.

"Ladies and gentleman, it is 2.40am and there is no barricades in front of me," he said.

"We are on the new part of the freeway. This is it. We've done it. Oh my gosh. I can't f**king believe it."

Mr Dullard said the pair had waited for the freeway to open, and they had "stayed up all f**king night."

With Ed Sheeran's Castle On The Hill playing in the background, we think it's safe to say Malcolm Turnbull's ribbon-cutting ceremony has been well and truly upstaged.
