Bernie Williams is in this video at the great big mac macarthur stadium. This is when Bernie was still playing in the minors and moving up the yankees farm system. He is also the first one to bat and this presentation has been produced by Cable 13 with a number of interesting yet entertaining commercials. Video starts rough for a few seconds and then cuts to Dave Cohen then gameplay and finally ends at the top of the ninth inning. This video is still an exciting piece of history. Its a wonderful pitching duel and brings back the memories of a classic "Big Mac" game.

What cultures and people have shaped the sports we love that can elicit great passion in all of us? Fifteen students, led by Falk College sport management professor of practice Dennis Deninger, researched this question in great detail as part of SPM 300—The History of Sport, which debuted during the Fall 2012 semester. Their research is the basis for a one-hour documentary entitled, “America’s First Sport,” set to premiere in Syracuse on April 22. The documentary will be narrated by ESPN commentator and Newhouse alumnus, Mike Tirico ’88, who serves on the Sport Management and Newhouse School Advisory Boards. The documentary will serve as the centerpiece of an academic symposium on lacrosse’s role in the culture of Central New York co-sponsored by the Falk College and S.I. Newhouse School of Public Communications.
Each semester, SPM 300 will pinpoint a single topic for students to conduct original research and interviews, use primary sources, and explore multiple facets of the subject. Lacrosse was selected as the subject for the course’s inaugural year because of its ancient origins and cultural connections in Central New York. This past fall, Deninger, who is also the director of the Newhouse Sports Communications graduate program, required students to look at the origins of organized sport in the United States, answering such questions as, how has sport impacted American society, how does it play a cultural role, and what does the history and current state of American sports foreshadow for the future? Each student completed a final research project on lacrosse entitled, America's First Sport.
Five students who enrolled in the course during Fall 2012 are continuing the independent study this spring, including undergraduate students from the Falk College, Newhouse School, and the College of Visual and Performing Arts. They have done research on amateur and professional lacrosse to support 45 interviews done by professor Deninger since February. These include in-depth discussions with Native American leaders, current and legendary players and coaches, presidents of the Federation of International Lacrosse and U.S. Lacrosse, the commissioner of Major League Lacrosse, media from ESPN and Inside Lacrosse Magazine and lacrosse historians. Onondaga Nation Chief Irving Powless, current Onondaga Community College players, including All-World Under-19 goalkeeper, Warren Hill, and SU coaches Roy Simmons Jr., Gary Gait and John Desko are among those featured in the documentary.
Students will play key roles in planning the symposium and are currently identifying topics to be placed before the panel and related lines of questioning. “It is a unique learning opportunity for our sport management students to see the work they have done become something as tangible as a documentary film,” said Michael D. Veley, director and chair, Department of Sport Management. “In most classes, students hand in a paper and after they receive their grade, the process ends,” said Deninger. “But in our History of Sport class, the student’s work will become part of a legacy of research that will help define the Falk College and its Sport Management Department for years to come.” For more information about the premiere, contact the Department of Sport Management at (315) 443-9881.

Syracuse Chiefs
The Syracuse Chiefs are a minor league baseball team based in Syracuse, New York. The Triple-A affiliate of the Washington Nationals, the team plays in the International League (IL). NBT Bank Stadium, on Syracuse's northside, is the Chiefs' home stadium.
History
Establishment
The first Syracuse Chiefs baseball team was established in 1934, when the International League's Jersey City Skeeters moved to Syracuse and were (re)named the Chiefs. The team played in the IL through 1955 (winning five championships), but was sold and moved to Miami as the Marlins for the 1956 campaign.
Another team known as the Syracuse Chiefs competed in the Class A Eastern League (then two levels below the IL) during 1956–57, but moved to Allentown, Pennsylvania on July 13, 1957.
Syracuse was without professional baseball until the 1961 season, when the Montreal Royals franchise was abandoned by its owners (the Los Angeles Dodgers) and returned to Syracuse, becoming the Syracuse Chiefs.
Rebirth
The Chiefs have played in Syracuse without interruption since their rebirth in 1961. The team was renamed the SkyChiefs in 1997. The name reverted to the original "Chiefs" in December 2006.

First Book is a nonprofit social enterprise founded in 1992 that provides new books and educational resources to children from low-income families. First Book makes new books and other educational resources available for free and at deeply reduced prices - exclusively to educators and community program leaders who serve kids in need, from birth to age 18. To date, First Book has provided more than 125 million new books and resources to kids in need. First Book has created the largest and fast-growing network of educators and program leaders working with kids from low-income families throughout the U.S. and Canada: 160,000 strong with 6,000 joining every month.
History
1992: First Book was started by Peter Gold, Elizabeth Arky, and Kyle Zimmer in 1992. At the time, Kyle, then a corporate attorney, was volunteering regularly at a soup kitchen in Washington DC. During this experience, and while traveling the country while representing the Navajo nation, she met educators and community leaders working with kids from low-income families. She discovered nearly all lacked sufficient books and educational resources to ensure kids have the opportunity to read, learn and succeed. Kyle and two friends and colleagues, Liz and Peter, established First Book to provide an ongoing supply of books to those working with children living in poverty.

Best watched show of the week??” But nobody wants vanilla sax! So we called the doctor. Dr. Matt Saleh earned a PhD from Columbia University because his law degree from Syracuse wasn’t enough. Dr. Christian currently works at Cornell University Employment and Disability Institute here in NYC. R/GA executive producer James Huerta pulls double duty on the Roland V-Drums. He was tired (read: hungover) when he showed up today, but that’s because he celebrated his wife’s 30th birthday the night before. He’s like the little drummer boy, you know, if the drummer boy was a drumming freak with a set of electronic drums and a funky sense of rhythm. Did I mention now one wants vanilla sax? Oh yes, I did. That’s why I pulled out the synthesizer and loaded up a sweet 70s electric piano sound. Then we made the beat all slow and nasty, smooth jazz style. Parti Wall is a performance that through active negotiation exposed the architectural sensibilities of the 9 mentor-led teams that occupy the 9 cells in the grid. Parti Wall is a performance that through active negotiation exposed the architectural sensibilities of the 9 mentor-led teams that occupy the 9 cells in the grid. International League Baseball
The road trip that rekindled my love of baseball. Growing up I loved going to Expos games here in Montreal. When the strike of '94 hit, it nullified what was almost a sure thing, a world championship for the Expos. The strike extinguished the fire that burned inside of me. I went to a handful of games in 1995, but it just wasn't the same. Lately I have been feeling a bit of nostalgia for the game, so my friend Adam and I hit the road to check out the sights, sounds and smells of a couple of International League teams, the Rochester RedWings and the Syracuse Chiefs. Together We Read
First Book, a national non-profit that provides low-income children with access to books, has donated 13,000 children’s books to the Syracuse University Literacy Corps which in turn donated them to the Syracuse City School District. As a result of this extremely generous donation every student in grades k-6 will receive a free book. First Book’s donation to the Syracuse community is part of a larger donation from Target Corporation’s Read With Me InitiativeSM. Video starts rough for a few seconds and then cuts to Dave Cohen then gameplay and finally ends at the top of the ninth inning. This video is still an exciting piece of history. Its a wonderful pitching duel and brings back the memories of a classic "Big Mac" game.

What cultures and people have shaped the sports we love that can elicit great passion in all of us? Fifteen students, led by Falk College sport management professor of practice Dennis Deninger, researched this question in great detail as part of SPM 300—The History of Sport, which debuted during the Fall 2012 semester. Their research is the basis for a one-hour documentary entitled, “America’s First Sport,” set to premiere in Syracuse on April 22. The documentary will be narrated by ESPN commentator and Newhouse alumnus, Mike Tirico ’88, who serves on the Sport Management and Newhouse School Advisory Boards. The documentary will serve as the centerpiece of an academic symposium on lacrosse’s role in the culture of Central New York co-sponsored by the Falk College and S.I. Newhouse School of Public Communications.
Each semester, SPM 300 will pinpoint a single topic for students to conduct original research and interviews, use primary sources, and explore multiple facets of the subject. Lacrosse was selected as the subject for the course’s inaugural year because of its ancient origins and cultural connections in Central New York. This past fall, Deninger, who is also the director of the Newhouse Sports Communications graduate program, required students to look at the origins of organized sport in the United States, answering such questions as, how has sport impacted American society, how does it play a cultural role, and what does the history and current state of American sports foreshadow for the future? Each student completed a final research project on lacrosse entitled, America's First Sport.
Five students who enrolled in the course during Fall 2012 are continuing the independent study this spring, including undergraduate students from the Falk College, Newhouse School, and the College of Visual and Performing Arts. They have done research on amateur and professional lacrosse to support 45 interviews done by professor Deninger since February. These include in-depth discussions with Native American leaders, current and legendary players and coaches, presidents of the Federation of International Lacrosse and U.S. Lacrosse, the commissioner of Major League Lacrosse, media from ESPN and Inside Lacrosse Magazine and lacrosse historians. Onondaga Nation Chief Irving Powless, current Onondaga Community College players, including All-World Under-19 goalkeeper, Warren Hill, and SU coaches Roy Simmons Jr., Gary Gait and John Desko are among those featured in the documentary.
Students will play key roles in planning the symposium and are currently identifying topics to be placed before the panel and related lines of questioning. “It is a unique learning opportunity for our sport management students to see the work they have done become something as tangible as a documentary film,” said Michael D. Veley, director and chair, Department of Sport Management. “In most classes, students hand in a paper and after they receive their grade, the process ends,” said Deninger. “But in our History of Sport class, the student’s work will become part of a legacy of research that will help define the Falk College and its Sport Management Department for years to come.” For more information about the premiere, contact the Department of Sport Management at (315) 443-9881.

This Chief Strategy Officer of The Nielsen Company promised me that this recording would hit at least #9 on the best watched shows of the week (or maybe he meant “Nein! Nein! Best watched show of the week??”
But nobody wants vanilla sax! So we called the doctor. Dr. Matt Saleh earned a PhD from Columbia University because his law degree from Syracuse wasn’t enough. Dr. Christian currently works at Cornell University Employment and Disability Institute here in NYC.

He was tired (read: hungover) when he showed up today, but that’s because he celebrated his wife’s 30th birthday the night before. Did I mention now one wants vanilla sax? Oh yes, I did. That’s why I pulled out the synthesizer and loaded up a sweet 70s electric piano sound. Then we made the beat all slow and nasty, smooth jazz style. Let it rain, mutha f-, I mean, let it snow, let it snow, let it snow! #holidaycheer

Alluding to the potential of bricolage to produce hybrid forms based on the overlay of formal thoughts. Parti Wall is a performance that through active negotiation exposed the architectural sensibilities of the 9 mentor-led teams that occupy the 9 cells in the grid. Over the span of a single weekend, teams of mentors and students were asked to negotiate the boundaries that define their respective spaces while taking a position that leads to the co-construction of the walls that surround them.
Not only a purely extruded plane, walls are tectonic figurations that communicate ideology making them important as both a constructed component and over time a disciplinary marker. Stemming from the French term Prendre Parti, meaning ‘to make a decision,’ the Parti is considered to be the chief organizing thought behind an architect’s design. The combination of terms, Parti Wall, alludes to the potential of bricolage to produce hybrid forms based on the overlay of formal thoughts between two neighboring designers.
Sited in the central atrium of Slocum Hall, on axis with the Marble Room; the production of the project proposes a certain reverence to some of the principles that this school was built upon. While we associate the 9 square as a 20th century problem in architecture, in reality the Texas Rangers came upon a useful formal and spatial device that lends itself towards reinvention – for example Eisenman’s 9 square is not Koolhaas’s 9 square, is not the Courthouse in Lockhart, Texas. Unlike the four square, or other geometries, the 9 square has a clear perimeter and a clear center. The versatility of the 9 square problem over time has offered several iterations: as an abstract spatial problem, a project on tectonics, and an indexing of form, and my reading as an infrastructure for an event.
In this rendition of the 9 square project, over the span of a single weekend two authors negotiated over the boundaries that define their respective spaces– with a particular interest in the center, edge, and surface. Each teams cell has an ideology or theme that takes a position towards the co-construction of the walls that surround them.

Alluding to the potential of bricolage to produce hybrid forms based on the overlay of formal thoughts. Parti Wall is a performance that through active negotiation exposed the architectural sensibilities of the 9 mentor-led teams that occupy the 9 cells in the grid. Over the span of a single weekend, teams of mentors and students were asked to negotiate the boundaries that define their respective spaces while taking a position that leads to the co-construction of the walls that surround them.
Not only a purely extruded plane, walls are tectonic figurations that communicate ideology making them important as both a constructed component and over time a disciplinary marker. Stemming from the French term Prendre Parti, meaning ‘to make a decision,’ the Parti is considered to be the chief organizing thought behind an architect’s design. The combination of terms, Parti Wall, alludes to the potential of bricolage to produce hybrid forms based on the overlay of formal thoughts between two neighboring designers.
Sited in the central atrium of Slocum Hall, on axis with the Marble Room; the production of the project proposes a certain reverence to some of the principles that this school was built upon. While we associate the 9 square as a 20th century problem in architecture, in reality the Texas Rangers came upon a useful formal and spatial device that lends itself towards reinvention – for example Eisenman’s 9 square is not Koolhaas’s 9 square, is not the Courthouse in Lockhart, Texas. Unlike the four square, or other geometries, the 9 square has a clear perimeter and a clear center. The versatility of the 9 square problem over time has offered several iterations: as an abstract spatial problem, a project on tectonics, and an indexing of form, and my reading as an infrastructure for an event.
In this rendition of the 9 square project, over the span of a single weekend two authors negotiated over the boundaries that define their respective spaces– with a particular interest in the center, edge, and surface. Each teams cell has an ideology or theme that takes a position towards the co-construction of the walls that surround them.

Robert Ashford is Professor of Law at Syracuse University, College of Law. His subjects include Binary Economics, Business Associations, Public Corporations, Professional Responsibility and Securities Regulation. He holds a J.D. with honors from Harvard Law School, and a B.A. with majors in physics and English literature, graduating first in his class at the University of South Florida. He was a Woodrow Wilson Fellow at Stanford University where he studied English literature and creative writing. His book Binary Economics: the New Paradigm, (1999) with Rodney Shakespeare, is available from the University Press of America.
Professor Ashford is the founder and principal organizer of the Section on Socio-Economics of the Association of American Law Schools and a member of the Editorial Board of the Journal of Socio-Economics, the academic honor societies of Phi Kappa Phi and Sigma Pi Sigma (physics), and the American Law Institute.
Professor Ashford has authored and co-authored articles, book chapters and monographs on various subjects including banking, binary economics, evidence, implied liability under federal law, professional responsibility, public utility regulation, socio-economics, securities regulation, and tax law.
Professor Ashford's current research interests include the relationship between socio-economic principles and the professional responsibilities of lawyers; the fiduciary duty of inquiry in a market economy; the history of law and economics; Federal Reserve monetary policy; Christianity and economics, and binary economics.
Professor Ashford began law practice in the tax department of Morrison & Foerster in San Francisco. Later he joined Louis Kelso in forming the law firm of Kelso, Hunt, Ashford and Ludwig, and the investment banking firm Kelso and Company where he served as Chief Operating Officer and General Counsel. His law practice included tax, corporate law, securities regulation, and appellate litigation. While in private practice, he was elected President of the Barristers Club of San Francisco (1973) and a Director of the Bar Association of San Francisco (1978).

The road trip that rekindled my love of baseball. Growing up I loved going to Expos games here in Montreal. When the strike of '94 hit, it nullified what was almost a sure thing, a world championship for the Expos. The strike extinguished the fire that burned inside of me. I went to a handful of games in 1995, but it just wasn't the same.
Lately I have been feeling a bit of nostalgia for the game, so my friend Adam and I hit the road to check out the sights, sounds and smells of a couple of International League teams, the Rochester RedWings and the Syracuse Chiefs. It was an incredible journey, and my love for baseball is now back strong as ever.

The road trip that rekindled my love of baseball. Growing up I loved going to Expos games here in Montreal. When the strike of '94 hit, it nullified what was almost a sure thing, a world championship for the Expos. The strike extinguished the fire that burned inside of me. I went to a handful of games in 1995, but it just wasn't the same.
Lately I have been feeling a bit of nostalgia for the game, so my friend Adam and I hit the road to check out the sights, sounds and smells of a couple of International League teams, the Rochester RedWings and the Syracuse Chiefs. It was an incredible journey, and my love for baseball is now back strong as ever.

First Book, a national non-profit that provides low-income children with access to books, has donated 13,000 children’s books to the Syracuse University Literacy Corps which in turn donated them to the Syracuse City School District. As a result of this extremely generous donation every student in grades k-6 will receive a free book. First Book’s donation to the Syracuse community is part of a larger donation from Target Corporation’s Read With Me InitiativeSM.
The Syracuse University Literacy Corps is a group of more than 200 Syracuse University students who tutor in the Syracuse City School District and at community based organizations across the City of Syracuse. The Literacy Corps is a member of First Book’s Campus Advisory Board, which means it helps channel First Book donations to the local organizations that need them most. To date, the Literacy Corps has distributed more than 30,000 First Book books donated to First Book in the Syracuse Community.
In celebration of Together We Read Week over 20 local celebrities read to children in elementary schools across the District. Deputy Superintendent Christine Vogelsang, Mayor Stephanie Miner, Police Chief Frank Fowler, Fire Chief Mark McLees, Dr. Zaline Roy-Campbell, Cedric Bolton, Mary Nelson, Syracuse Crunch broadcaster Jason Lockhart and AL the Ice Gorilla joined Syracuse Chiefs Mascot Scooch and many others today in our schools.
Rachael Voorhees, senior director of First Book’s national book bank, said the Literacy Corps was selected to receive a portion of the Target grant because the staff at First Book knew that Target’s donation would be stretched as far as possible. “We chose to give these books to the Literacy Corps because the organization has a long history of serving Syracuse’s children and is well respected across the city. This is one of the wisest, most responsible ways we can spend Target’s donation,” Voorhees said.
Pamela Kirwin Heintz, the Director of the Center for Public and Community Service and the Associate Vice President for Engagement at Syracuse University, explained why donations from First Book are so important. “Books alone do not make a difference for children. It really takes a focused group of parents, teachers, literacy program directors across the community and organizations like First Book to make sure that children have the support they need to become proficient readers. That’s why we’re so excited about Together we Read Week. It fits our commitment to the community perfectly, and we’re going to make sure that in Syracuse, First Book’s donation is going to get to the people that know how to best use them.”

What cultures and people have shaped the sports we love that can elicit great passion in all of us? Fifteen students, led by Falk College sport management professor of practice Dennis Deninger, researched this question in great detail as part of SPM 300—The History of Sport, which debuted during the Fall 2012 semester. Their research is the basis for a one-hour documentary entitled, “America’s First Sport,” set to premiere in Syracuse on April 22. The documentary will be narrated by ESPN commentator and Newhouse alumnus, Mike Tirico ’88, who serves on the Sport Management and Newhouse School Advisory Boards. What cultures and people have shaped the sports we love that can elicit great passion in all of us? Fifteen students, led by Falk College sport management professor of practice Dennis Deninger, researched this question in great detail as part of SPM 300—The History of Sport, which debuted during the Fall 2012 semester. Their research is the basis for a one-hour documentary entitled, “America’s First Sport,” set to premiere in Syracuse on April 22. The documentary will be narrated by ESPN commentator and Newhouse alumnus, Mike Tirico ’88, who serves on the Sport Management and Newhouse School Advisory Boards. The documentary will serve as the centerpiece of an academic symposium on lacrosse’s role in the culture of Central New York co-sponsored by the Falk College and S.I. Newhouse School of Public Communications.
Each semester, SPM 300 will pinpoint a single topic for students to conduct original research and interviews, use primary sources, and explore multiple facets of the subject. Lacrosse was selected as the subject for the course’s inaugural year because of its ancient origins and cultural connections in Central New York. This past fall, Deninger, who is also the director of the Newhouse Sports Communications graduate program, required students to look at the origins of organized sport in the United States, answering such questions as, how has sport impacted American society, how does it play a cultural role, and what does the history and current state of American sports foreshadow for the future? Each student completed a final research project on lacrosse entitled, America's First Sport.
Five students who enrolled in the course during Fall 2012 are continuing the independent study this spring, including undergraduate students from the Falk College, Newhouse School, and the College of Visual and Performing Arts. They have done research on amateur and professional lacrosse to support 45 interviews done by professor Deninger since February. These include in-depth discussions with Native American leaders, current and legendary players and coaches, presidents of the Federation of International Lacrosse and U.S. Lacrosse, the commissioner of Major League Lacrosse, media from ESPN and Inside Lacrosse Magazine and lacrosse historians. What cultures and people have shaped the sports we love that can elicit great passion in all of us? Fifteen students, led by Falk College sport management professor of practice Dennis Deninger, researched this question in great detail as part of SPM 300—The History of Sport, which debuted during the Fall 2012 semester. Their research is the basis for a one-hour documentary entitled, “America’s First Sport,” set to premiere in Syracuse on April 22. The documentary will be narrated by ESPN commentator and Newhouse alumnus, Mike Tirico ’88, who serves on the Sport Management and Newhouse School Advisory Boards. The documentary will serve as the centerpiece of an academic symposium on lacrosse’s role in the culture of Central New York co-sponsored by the Falk College and S.I. Newhouse School of Public Communications.
Each semester, SPM 300 will pinpoint a single topic for students to conduct original research and interviews, use primary sources, and explore multiple facets of the subject. Lacrosse was selected as the subject for the course’s inaugural year because of its ancient origins and cultural connections in Central New York. This past fall, Deninger, who is also the director of the Newhouse Sports Communications graduate program, required students to look at the origins of organized sport in the United States, answering such questions as, how has sport impacted American society, how does it play a cultural role, and what does the history and current state of American sports foreshadow for the future? Each student completed a final research project on lacrosse entitled, America's First Sport.
Five students who enrolled in the course during Fall 2012 are continuing the independent study this spring, including undergraduate students from the Falk College, Newhouse School, and the College of Visual and Performing Arts. They have done research on amateur and professional lacrosse to support 45 interviews done by professor Deninger since February. These include in-depth discussions with Native American leaders, current and legendary players and coaches, presidents of the Federation of International Lacrosse and U.S. Lacrosse, the commissioner of Major League Lacrosse, media from ESPN and Inside Lacrosse Magazine and lacrosse historians. Mark Leiter unfortunately attended Harvard, but he plays a mean sax, so we brought him back for another year of holiday cheer. This Chief Strategy Officer of The Nielsen Company promised me that this recording would hit at least #9 on the best watched shows of the week (or maybe he meant “Nein! Nein! Best watched show of the week??”
But nobody wants vanilla sax! So we called the doctor. Dr. Matt Saleh earned a PhD from Columbia University because his law degree from Syracuse wasn’t enough. Dr. Christian currently works at Cornell University Employment and Disability Institute here in NYC.

Alluding to the potential of bricolage to produce hybrid forms based on the overlay of formal thoughts. Parti Wall is a performance that through active negotiation exposed the architectural sensibilities of the 9 mentor-led teams that occupy the 9 cells in the grid. Over the span of a single weekend, teams of mentors and students were asked to negotiate the boundaries that define their respective spaces while taking a position that leads to the co-construction of the walls that surround them.
Not only a purely extruded plane, walls are tectonic figurations that communicate ideology making them important as both a constructed component and over time a disciplinary marker. Stemming from the French term Prendre Parti, meaning ‘to make a decision,’ the Parti is considered to be the chief organizing thought behind an architect’s design. The combination of terms, Parti Wall, alludes to the potential of bricolage to produce hybrid forms based on the overlay of formal thoughts between two neighboring designers.
Sited in the central atrium of Slocum Hall, on axis with the Marble Room; the production of the project proposes a certain reverence to some of the principles that this school was built upon. While we associate the 9 square as a 20th century problem in architecture, in reality the Texas Rangers came upon a useful formal and spatial device that lends itself towards reinvention – for example Eisenman’s 9 square is not Koolhaas’s 9 square, is not the Courthouse in Lockhart, Texas. Unlike the four square, or other geometries, the 9 square has a clear perimeter and a clear center. The versatility of the 9 square problem over time has offered several iterations: as an abstract spatial problem, a project on tectonics, and an indexing of form, and my reading as an infrastructure for an event.
In this rendition of the 9 square project, over the span of a single weekend two authors negotiated over the boundaries that define their respective spaces– with a particular interest in the center, edge, and surface. Each teams cell has an ideology or theme that takes a position towards the co-construction of the walls that surround them.

While we associate the 9 square as a 20th century problem in architecture, in reality the Texas Rangers came upon a useful formal and spatial device that lends itself towards reinvention – for example Eisenman’s 9 square is not Koolhaas’s 9 square, is not the Courthouse in Lockhart, Texas. Unlike the four square, or other geometries, the 9 square has a clear perimeter and a clear center. The versatility of the 9 square problem over time has offered several iterations: as an abstract spatial problem, a project on tectonics, and an indexing of form, and my reading as an infrastructure for an event.

Alluding to the potential of bricolage to produce hybrid forms based on the overlay of formal thoughts. Parti Wall is a performance that through active negotiation exposed the architectural sensibilities of the 9 mentor-led teams that occupy the 9 cells in the grid. Over the span of a single weekend, teams of mentors and students were asked to negotiate the boundaries that define their respective spaces while taking a position that leads to the co-construction of the walls that surround them.
Not only a purely extruded plane, walls are tectonic figurations that communicate ideology making them important as both a constructed component and over time a disciplinary marker. Stemming from the French term Prendre Parti, meaning ‘to make a decision,’ the Parti is considered to be the chief organizing thought behind an architect’s design. The combination of terms, Parti Wall, alludes to the potential of bricolage to produce hybrid forms based on the overlay of formal thoughts between two neighboring designers.
Sited in the central atrium of Slocum Hall, on axis with the Marble Room; the production of the project proposes a certain reverence to some of the principles that this school was built upon. Robert Ashford is Professor of Law at Syracuse University, College of Law. His subjects include Binary Economics, Business Associations, Public Corporations, Professional Responsibility and Securities Regulation. He holds a J.D. with honors from Harvard Law School, and a B.A. with majors in physics and English literature, graduating first in his class at the University of South Florida. He was a Woodrow Wilson Fellow at Stanford University where he studied English literature and creative writing. His book Binary Economics: the New Paradigm, (1999) with Rodney Shakespeare, is available from the University Press of America.
Professor Ashford is the founder and principal organizer of the Section on Socio-Economics of the Association of American Law Schools and a member of the Editorial Board of the Journal of Socio-Economics, the academic honor societies of Phi Kappa Phi and Sigma Pi Sigma (physics), and the American Law Institute.
Professor Ashford has authored and co-authored articles, book chapters and monographs on various subjects including banking, binary economics, evidence, implied liability under federal law, professional responsibility, public utility regulation, socio-economics, securities regulation, and tax law.
Professor Ashford's current research interests include the relationship between socio-economic principles and the professional responsibilities of lawyers; the fiduciary duty of inquiry in a market economy; the history of law and economics; Federal Reserve monetary policy; Christianity and economics, and binary economics.
Professor Ashford began law practice in the tax department of Morrison & Foerster in San Francisco. Later he joined Louis Kelso in forming the law firm of Kelso, Hunt, Ashford and Ludwig, and the investment banking firm Kelso and Company where he served as Chief Operating Officer and General Counsel. His law practice included tax, corporate law, securities regulation, and appellate litigation. While in private practice, he was elected President of the Barristers Club of San Francisco (1973) and a Director of the Bar Association of San Francisco (1978).

The road trip that rekindled my love of baseball. Growing up I loved going to Expos games here in Montreal. When the strike of '94 hit, it nullified what was almost a sure thing, a world championship for the Expos. The strike extinguished the fire that burned inside of me. I went to a handful of games in 1995, but it just wasn't the same.
Lately I have been feeling a bit of nostalgia for the game, so my friend Adam and I hit the road to check out the sights, sounds and smells of a couple of International League teams, the Rochester RedWings and the Syracuse Chiefs. It was an incredible journey, and my love for baseball is now back strong as ever.

First Book, a national non-profit that provides low-income children with access to books, has donated 13,000 children’s books to the Syracuse University Literacy Corps which in turn donated them to the Syracuse City School District. As a result of this extremely generous donation every student in grades k-6 will receive a free book. First Book’s donation to the Syracuse community is part of a larger donation from Target Corporation’s Read With Me InitiativeSM.
The Syracuse University Literacy Corps is a group of more than 200 Syracuse University students who tutor in the Syracuse City School District and at community based organizations across the City of Syracuse. The Literacy Corps is a member of First Book’s Campus Advisory Board, which means it helps channel First Book donations to the local organizations that need them most. To date, the Literacy Corps has distributed more than 30,000 First Book books donated to First Book in the Syracuse Community.
In celebration of Together We Read Week over 20 local celebrities read to children in elementary schools across the District. Deputy Superintendent Christine Vogelsang, Mayor Stephanie Miner, Police Chief Frank Fowler, Fire Chief Mark McLees, Dr. Zaline Roy-Campbell, Cedric Bolton, Mary Nelson, Syracuse Crunch broadcaster Jason Lockhart and AL the Ice Gorilla joined Syracuse Chiefs Mascot Scooch and many others today in our schools.
Rachael Voorhees, senior director of First Book’s national book bank, said the Literacy Corps was selected to receive a portion of the Target grant because the staff at First Book knew that Target’s donation would be stretched as far as possible. “We chose to give these books to the Literacy Corps because the organization has a long history of serving Syracuse’s children and is well respected across the city. This is one of the wisest, most responsible ways we can spend Target’s donation,” Voorhees said.
Pamela Kirwin Heintz, the Director of the Center for Public and Community Service and the Associate Vice President for Engagement at Syracuse University, explained why donations from First Book are so important. “Books alone do not make a difference for children. It really takes a focused group of parents, teachers, literacy program directors across the community and organizations like First Book to make sure that children have the support they need to become proficient readers. That’s why we’re so excited about Together we Read Week. It fits our commitment to the community perfectly, and we’re going to make sure that in Syracuse, First Book’s donation is going to get to the people that know how to best use them.”
