Jim & Jesse were an American bluegrass music duo composed of brothers Jim McReynolds (February 13, 1927 – December 31, 2002) and Jesse McReynolds (born July 9, 1929). The two were born and raised in Carfax, a community near Coeburn, Virginia. Their grandfather, Charles McReynolds had led the band "The Bull Mountain Moonshiners", who recorded at the famous Bristol Sessions in 1927.
Jesse played the mandolin with a unique, self-invented "crosspicking"and "split-string" playing method, and Jim sang as a high tenor and played guitar. They played with their backing band, The Virginia Boys, consisting of five-string banjo, fiddle and bass. The Virginia Boys have included a who's who of famous musicians such as famed fiddler Vassar Clements, banjo great Allen Shelton, fiddle great Jimmy Buchanan, Carl Jackson, Glen Duncan, Jesse's oldest son, the late Keith McReynolds, Randall Franks and many more.
Since the death of brother Jim, Jesse has gone on with their famous Virginia Boys band. He has continued in the bluegrass music tradition and has added other genres of music to his repertoire. His present show includes Chuck Berry songs, and he has just completed a tribute to Jerry Garcia & Robert Hunter (of the Grateful Dead) released in 2010 on Woodstock Records. It features Jerry's friends David Nelson and Sandy Rothman, along with Stu Allen, of the present Jerry Garcia Acoustic Band. The album is titled: "Jesse McReynolds & Friends Tribute to Jerry Garcia and Robert Hunter ~ Songs of the Grateful Dead."
Jesse /ˈdʒɛs.iː/,Isai or Yishai (Hebrew: יִשַׁי, Modern Yishay, Tiberian Yīšáy, meaning "God exists" or "God's gift"; Arabic: يَسَّى Yassa; Syriac: ܐܝܫܝ Eshai; Greek: Ἰεσσαί Iessai; Latin: Isai, Jesse) is the father of David, who became the king of the Israelites. His son David is sometimes called simply "Son of Jesse" (Ben Yishai).
Jesse was the son of Obed and the grandson of Ruth and of Boaz. He lived in Bethlehem, in Judah, and was of the Tribe of Judah, he was a farmer, breeder and owner of sheep. He was a prominent resident of the town of Bethlehem. Jesse is important in Judaism because he was the father of the most famous King of Israel. He is important in Christianity, in part because he is in the Old Testament and mentioned in the genealogy of Jesus. Later rabbinic traditions name him as one of four ancient Israelites who died without sin, the other three being Benjamin, Chileab and Amram.
Jesse Lester McReynolds (born July 9, 1929) is an American bluegrass musician. He is best known for his innovative crosspicking and split-string styles of mandolin playing. He has been a member of the Grand Ole Opry since 1964 and is a multiple Grammy nominee and award winner.
Jesse McReynolds was born in Coeburn, Virginia. He and his brother Jim begin performing together in or around 1947. They originally performed under the name, "The McReynolds Brothers." In 1951, Jesse and Jim, joined by Larry Roll on guitar, made their first recording, ten gospel songs for Kentucky Records under the name "The Virginia Trio". In 1952, Jim and Jesse signed with Capitol Records, who asked them to change their name from the "McReynolds Brothers," so they started recording under the name "Jim and Jesse and the Virginia Boys.". They recorded 20 songs for Capitol over three sessions in 1952, 1953, and 1955. During this time (1952-1954), Jesse also served in the US Army in Korea (the 1953 recording sessions took place while he was on leave). While serving in Korea, he and Charlie Louvin of the Louvin Brothers (who was also serving in Korea) formed a band called the "Dusty Roads Boys" and played regular concerts for other troops. After Jesse's return from Korea, Jim and Jesse continued to perform and release albums until Jim McReynolds's death from cancer in 2002. Since 2002, Jesse has continued to perform and record as a solo artist.

A quick little something I made today. Song is 'Diesel On My Tail' by Jim and Jesse McReynolds. Made using scenes from the movie Duel(1971), which I must say is a fairly entertaining movie. I own nothing in this video. Just something I made for fun. Enjoy! Yes, I know the reddish-orange Plymouth Valiant is not a 'little foreign car'.
Fantastic version of this timeless bluegrass classic.

Jesse James: THE REAL STORY (OLD WILD WEST OUTLAW HISTORY DOCUMENTARY) The INCREDIBLE AND AMAZING story of Jesse James remains one of America's most cherished myths... and one of its most wrong-headed. A product of the American Civil War, James was less heroic than brutal; America's own Robin Hood who robbed not only the rich, but the poor and defenseless as well, always saving the treasure for himself.

I wanted a mountain, you gave me a sea
I wanted a hurricane, you gave me a breeze
I wanted to run, made me stand there and breathe
I wanted to dream, you made me sleep
I wanted to touch the bottom but it was too deep
I wanted a revolution, you said I was already free
Oh, yeah
Where do we go from here?
Now the day is gone
How do we face our fears
With nothing in our hearts, baby?
Where do we go from here?
Now the night has come
I wanted to touch your mind and your heart
I wanted to find a new place to start
I wanted to kiss your every part
Oh, yeah
So, baby, don't leave me now as you turn to the flag
They get shot through the holes but you're still alive
Like you're too close to death to ever really die
Oh, die yeah
Where do we go from here?
Now the day is gone
How do we face our fears
With nothing in our hearts, baby?
Where do we go from here?
Now the night has come
How do we face our fears
With nothing in our hearts, nothing
Why won't you listen to me?
I never meant you no harm
I only wanted to be free
All I want is to be free
Where do we go from here?
Now the day is gone
How do we face our fears
With nothing in our hearts, baby?
Where do we go from here?
Now the night has come
How do we face our fears?
Oh, yeah
Where do we go?
Where do we go?
Where do we go?
Where do we go?
Where do we go?
Where do we go?
