Tacloban (English: /tækˈloʊbən/ tak-LOH-ban; Waray-Waray and Filipino: [tɐkˈloban]) is a first income class highly urbanized city in the Philippines and the provincial capital of Leyte where it is geographically situated but governed administratively independent from it. It is 360 miles (580 km) southeast from Manila. According to the 2010 census, it has a population of 221,174 and is the most populous city in the Eastern Visayas region. In the 2013 election, it had 109,027 registered voters.
It is also the regional center of Eastern Visayas, being the main gateway by air to the region. Tacloban was briefly the capital of the Philippines, from 20 October 1944 to 27 February 1945.
In an extensive survey conducted by the Asian Institute of Management Policy Center and released in July 2010, Tacloban ranks as the fifth most competitive city in the Philippines, and second in the emerging cities category.
On 8 November 2013, the city was largely destroyed by Typhoon Haiyan, having previously suffered similar destruction and loss of life in 1897 and 1912.
TV Patrol is the flagship national network news broadcast of ABS-CBN in the Philippines. It can be heard simultaneously on radio through DZMM Radyo Patrol 630 and its cable channel counterpart DZMM TeleRadyo and on provincial radio stations based in Palawan (765 kHz), Cebu (1512 kHz) and Davao (1296 kHz), with several MOR stations nationwide (103.1 Baguio, 93.5 Naga, 93.9 Legazpi, 94.3 Tacloban, 98.7 Zamboanga, 91.9 Cagayan de Oro and 95.1 Cotabato). It is also broadcast overseas via ABS-CBN's international brand, The Filipino Channel. It is the longest-running Filipino spoken evening newscast since its inception on March 2, 1987.
In the fourth quarter of 1986, ABS-CBN News executives, among them the then News Manager Angelo Castro, Jr., began holding meetings with higher-ups on plans to launch an all-new news program that will serve as a replacement to Balita Ngayon. On March 1, 1987, ABS-CBN announced the launch of TV Patrol during the public variety extravaganza "Ang Pagbabalik ng Bituin" (The Return of the Star) at Luneta Park, Manila.
TV Patrol Tacloban is the local news program of the ABS-CBN Regional Network Group in Tacloban City.
It is aired live daily from the ABS-CBN Broadcasting Center in Tacloban at 5:15 PM, from Monday to Friday. It is simulcast on radio via MOR 94.3 Tacloban For Life!
TV Patrol Tacloban has been covering the latest in-depth news from all over Eastern Visayas in Waray, the major language of the region. Its area of coverage goes as far as Samar, Leyte's neighboring islands.
TV Patrol Tacloban has been running for more than 15 years, with its original anchor Clifford Nolido, who since transferred to ABS-CBN Iloilo as its Station Manager. He has been replaced by his former sit-in anchor Ranulfo Docdocan.
The program ceased broadcasting for 6 weeks after Tacloban City was hit by Typhoon Yolanda on November 8, 2013, which damaged the broadcast equipment of ABS-CBN Tacloban. The program returned to broadcast on December 23, 2013 after power was restored in the city, repairs were completed in the station, and main anchor Docdocan recovered from injuries covering the typhoon in Guiuan, Eastern Samar.
it couldn't be described my feelings upon watching how the typhon "Yolanda" devastated the whole city of Tacloban...it maybe GOD's way to remind us to renew our faith w/ HIM...and that we should be ready at all times... or this maybe some other kind of "tribulation" that in a matter of minute, people will disappear on the earth...

Leyte is an island in the Visayas group of the Philippines. Politically, the island is divided into two provinces: Northern Leyte and Southern Leyte. Territorially, Southern Leyte includes the island of Panaon to its south. To the north of Leyte is the island province of Biliran, a former sub-province of Leyte. The major cities of Leyte are Tacloban, on the eastern shore at the northwest corner of Leyte Gulf, and Ormoc, on the west coast. Leyte today is notable for the geothermal electric power plants near Ormoc.
