Attorney Antonio Moore discusses three recent articles about black woman's pay gap, the danger of teaching meritocracy to children of color, and why black poor are more hopeful than white poor despite having much less? In the US, the gender pay gap is narrowing. But progress on equal pay is not itself equal. To earn the same amount as white men in 2016, black women will have had to keep working until around today, July 31, according to the Economic Policy Institute (EPI).
On average, black women are paid only 67 cents on the dollar relative to white non-Hispanic men, even after accounting for education, work experience, and location. They also earn less than white non-Hispanic women, as EPI analysts wrote in a recent blog post:
Despite the large gender disadvantage faced by all women, black women were near parity with white women in 1979. However in 2016, white women’s wages grew to 76 percent of white men’s, compared to 67 percent for black women relative to white men—a racial difference of 9 percentage points. The trend is going the wrong way—progress is slowing for black women.
Black women are hit particularly hard by a combination of class inequality—from being underrepresented in top-earning jobs—as well as gender and racial discrimination. This wage inequality persists despite the fact that black women work more hours than white women. EPI’s analysis found that black women, whether they are married with children, single mothers, or childless, work on average more hours per year than white and Hispanic women. Still, white women were the highest earners.

Lost Frequencies
Felix Safran De Laet (born 30 November 1993), known by his stage name Lost Frequencies, is a Belgian DJ and music producer. He is best known for his 2014 single "Are You with Me" and his 2015 hit "Reality".
Career
2014–present: "Are You with Me"
In 2014 he became famous with his remix of "Are You with Me" by country artist Easton Corbin. The song had originally appeared in Corbin's 2012 album All Over the Road, but had not been released as a single. Lost Frequencies remixed the song and released it as a single on 27 October 2014. The track topped in Belgium the Flemish Ultratop chart on 15 November 2014, reaching number two in the Walloon chart as well. In 2015, the single peaked at the top of the charts in Australia, Austria, Germany, Poland, Ireland, Switzerland and the United Kingdom. It also charted in several countries around Europe, reaching the top 10 in Finland, France, the Netherlands, Norway, Spain, Sweden and Turkey .

Frequency
Frequency is the number of occurrences of a repeating event per unit time. It is also referred to as temporal frequency, which emphasizes the contrast to spatial frequency and angular frequency. The period is the duration of time of one cycle in a repeating event, so the period is the reciprocal of the frequency. For example, if a newborn baby's heart beats at a frequency of 120 times a minute, its period – the interval between beats – is half a second (60 seconds (i.e., a minute) divided by 120 beats). Frequency is an important parameter used in science and engineering to specify the rate of oscillatory and vibratory phenomena, such as mechanical vibrations, audio (sound) signals, radio waves, and light.

For cyclical processes, such as rotation, oscillations, or waves, frequency is defined as a number of cycles per unit time. In physics and engineering disciplines, such as optics, acoustics, and radio, frequency is usually denoted by a Latin letter f or by the Greek letter

Such is his discomfort with his living arrangements that he agrees to share the occupancy of another flat: he gets two nights a week, the owner (a sleazy frat-boy yuppie named Brian, soon to be married) and Ellen (a would-be painter seeking relief from her boring marriage) each get their separate nights in the flat. Things go extremely well until Sam and Brian swap nights without telling Ellen, who attributes the "nice" things that happen around the place to the slob Brian, while berating the responsible Sam for his hedonistic lifestyle.

However in 2016, white women’s wages grew to 76 percent of white men’s, compared to 67 percent for black women relative to white men—a racial difference of 9 percentage points. The trend is going the wrong way—progress is slowing for black women.
Black women are hit particularly hard by a combination of class inequality—from being underrepresented in top-earning jobs—as well as gender and racial discrimination. This wage inequality persists despite the fact that black women work more hours than white women. On average, black women are paid only 67 cents on the dollar relative to white non-Hispanic men, even after accounting for education, work experience, and location. They also earn less than white non-Hispanic women, as EPI analysts wrote in a recent blog post:
Despite the large gender disadvantage faced by all women, black women were near parity with white women in 1979. However in 2016, white women’s wages grew to 76 percent of white men’s, compared to 67 percent for black women relative to white men—a racial difference of 9 percentage points. The trend is going the wrong way—progress is slowing for black women.
Black women are hit particularly hard by a combination of class inequality—from being underrepresented in top-earning jobs—as well as gender and racial discrimination. This wage inequality persists despite the fact that black women work more hours than white women. EPI’s analysis found that black women, whether they are married with children, single mothers, or childless, work on average more hours per year than white and Hispanic women.
