The good-natured gnome helps the caterpillar and gives it some leaves to gnaw on. But when it's bedtime for the gnome, he only needs to deal with the gnawing sound.

Gnome
A gnome /ˈnoʊm/ is a diminutive spirit in Renaissance magic and alchemy, first introduced by Paracelsus in the 16th century and later adopted by more recent authors including those of modern fantasy literature. Its characteristics have been reinterpreted to suit the needs of various story tellers, but it is typically said to be a small, humanoid creature that lives underground.
History
Origins
The word comes from Renaissance Latin gnomus, which first appears in the works of 16th century Swiss alchemist Paracelsus, possibly deriving the term from Latin gēnomos (itself representing a Greek γη-νομος, literally "earth-dweller"). In this case, the omission of the ē is, as the Oxford English Dictionary (OED) calls it, a blunder. Alternatively, the term may be an original invention of Paracelsus.
Paracelsus uses Gnomi as a synonym of Pygmæi, and classifies them as earth elementals. He describes them as two spans high, very reluctant to interact with humans, and able to move through solid earth as easily as humans move through air.

GNOME
GNOME (pronounced /ɡˈnoʊm/ or /ˈnoʊm/) is a desktop environment that is composed entirely of free and open-source software. GNOME was originally an acronym for GNU Network Object Model Environment. Its target operating system is Linux, but it is also supported on most derivatives of BSD.
GNOME is developed by The GNOME Project, which is composed of both volunteers and paid contributors, the largest corporate contributor being Red Hat. It is an international project that aims to develop software frameworks for the development of software, to program end-user applications based on these frameworks, and to coordinate efforts for internationalization and localization and accessibility of that software.
GNOME is part of the GNU Project.
Design
Human Interface Guidelines
Since GNOME 2, productivity has been a key focus for GNOME. To this end, the GNOME Human Interface Guidelines (HIG) were created. All GNOME programs share a coherent style of graphical user interface (GUI), but is not limited to the employment of the same GUI widgets. Rather, the design of the GNOME GUI is guided by concepts described in the GNOME HIG, itself relying on insights from cognitive ergonomics. Following the HIG, developers can create high-quality, consistent, and usable GUI programs, as it addresses everything from GUI design to recommended pixel-based layout of widgets.

Ubuntu GNOME
Ubuntu GNOME (formerly Ubuntu GNOME Remix) is a Linux distribution and distributed as free and open source software. From version 13.04 onwards, it is an official "flavour" of the Ubuntu operating system which uses a pure GNOME desktop environment rather than the Unity graphical shell.
The project began as an unofficial "remix" because some users preferred the GNOME 3 desktop over Unity. Ubuntu GNOME 12.10 Quantal Quetzal was the first stable version released on 18 October 2012.

The Haunted
The Haunted is a Swedish heavy metal supergroup from Gothenburg, formed in 1996. The original members were Anders and Jonas Björler, Peter Dolving, Adrian Erlandsson and Patrik Jensen. Both of the Björler brothers and Erlandsson were members of the seminal melodic death metal band At the Gates, a pioneering force in the Swedish death metal scene.
A minority of members, past and present, are from Gothenburg, Sweden; with the exception of Patrik Jensen, who is from Linköping; Per Möller Jensen, who is from Denmark; Adrian Erlandsson, who is from Malmö; and Marco Aro, who is from Finland.
History
The Haunted (1996–1999)
On 27 July 1996, Patrik Jensen co-created the band with Adrian Erlandsson, who had just become an ex-member of his former band, At the Gates, due to the bands' split up the day before. They had made their demo, called Demo '97, in 1997.
The band released their first album, while signed to Earache Records, the self-titled debut The Haunted, in 1998. The album resulted in The Haunted being praised as Newcomer of the Year by several magazines, and the album being called Album of the Year by Terrorizer Magazine. The Haunted made a respectable live reputation staging the Swedish metal scene, as well the international scene, touring the U.K. with Napalm Death.

Synopsis: Our PG rated short film is an unexpected tale of a Gnome returning home from a day of collecting nuts and finding a caterpillar struggling to reach for leaves outside his house. The good-natured gnome helps the caterpillar and gives it some leaves to gnaw on. But when it's bedtime for the gnome, he only needs to deal with the gnawing sound.

Ubuntu GNOME 16.04 LTS is the latest release of Ubuntu 16.04 official flavors. This release ships with GNOME Shell 3.18 and support the most of GNOME 3.18 packages, powered by Long-term supported Linux kernel series 4.4, Fixes the sharing panel in GNOME Control Center, Support an experimental Wayland session. but it’s not installed by default. If you want to test drive wayland on Ubuntu GNOME you need to install gnome-session-wayland package.
