Victims of the Fulani herdsmen attack in Unguwar Galadima, Zamfara State, have vowed to revenge should the enemies attempt to harass them henceforth. Unguwar Galadima was ravished, weekend, when Fulani herdsmen killed more than 200 citizens. Presently, more corpses are being discovered from various locations of the town three days after the attack. A correspondent who was in the area for the third time after the episode gathered that no fewer than 26 fresh corpses have been discovered, but noted that these could not be evacuated because of their state of decomposition. One of the victims, Malam Bello Muazu, said that they were suffering as even drinking water was not available. One of them said, "since that fateful day we have not recovered fully.
Food is scarce and drinking water, because the only source of water to us has been taken over by these criminals as it is the place they live particularly which is bringing fears to us to go there." Bello said despite assurances by the police that they will be protected, the distance between them and the police are several miles away. He noted that after the killings, the suspects also burnt all their houses and grain stores, the only food they relied on, "so how do you expect us to live and survive here?" Another victim, Alhaji Surajo Tsoho, 67 years, said,"We have agreed among ourselves that even if we are all going to lose our lives, we must protect ourselves. We will not wait for anybody, including the government or police, because these people are not ready to take care of us. We are still in fear and our people are scattered all over while a number of them left the whole area along with their families." Efforts to see the district head proved abortive as he was said to have moved to an unknown destination.

Zamfara
Zamfara is a state in northwestern Nigeria. Its capital is Gusau and its Governor is Abdul'aziz Abubakar Yari, a member of the All Progressives Congress (APC). Until 1996 the area was part of Sokoto State.
Zamfara is peopled by Hausa and Fulani peoples. Major groups of people include the Zamfarawa mainly peopling Anka, Gummi, Bukkuyum and Talata Mafara Local Governments areas. Gobirawa peopled Shinkafi Local Government. Gobirawa actually migrated from the Gobir Kingdom. Burmawa are found in Bakura and Fulani peopled Bungudu, Maradun, Gusau and are scattered all over the State. In Tsafe, Bungudu and Maru Local Governments are mainly Katsinawa, Garewawa and Hadejawa. While Alibawa peopled Kaura Namoda and Zurmi.
Although the people of Zamfara have over the years struggled to have autonomy, it was not until 1996 that the then Military Administration of the Late General Sani Abacha detached Zamfara State from Sokoto State. With an area of 38,418 square kilometres, it is bordered in the North by Niger republic, to the South by Kaduna State. In the east it is bordered by Katsina State and to the West by Sokoto and Niger States. It has a population of 3,278,873 according to the 2006 census and contains fourteen local government areas.
