Chemical, biological, radiological and nuclear defense (CBRN defense or CBRND) is protective measures taken in situations in which chemical, biological, radiological or nuclear warfare (including terrorism) hazards may be present. CBRN defense consists of CBRN passive protection, contamination avoidance and CBRN mitigation.
A CBRN incident differs from a hazardous material incident in both scope (i.e., CBRN can be a mass casualty situation) and intent. CBRN incidents are responded to under the assumption that they are intentional and malicious; evidence preservation and perpetrator apprehension are of greater concern than with HAZMAT incidents.
A 2011 forecast concluded that worldwide government spending on CBRN defence products and services would reach US$8.38bn that year.
In English the term CBRN is a replacement for the cold war term NBC (nuclear, biological, and chemical), which had replaced the term ABC (atomic, biological, and chemical) that was used in the fifties. The addition of the R (for radiological) is a consequence of the "new" threat of a radiological weapon (also known as "dirty bombs"), in addition to end the joke among members of the Chemical Corps which called "NBC as NoBody Cares". In the new millennium, the term CBRNe was introduced as an extension of CBRN - the e in this term representing the enhanced (improvised) explosives threat. Leaders and members of the Chemical Corps also use CBRN as "Could Be Right Now".
Marines, also known as a marine corps and naval infantry, are an infantry force that specializes in the support of naval and army operations on land and at sea, as well as the execution of their own operations. In the majority of countries, the marine force is part of the navy, but it can also be under the army like the Troupes de marine (French Marines) and Givati Brigade (Israeli Marines), or form an independent armed service branch like the United States Marine Corps and Royal Marines.
Historically, tasks undertaken by marines have included providing protection from war while at sea, reflecting the pressed nature of the ships' company and the risk of mutiny. Other tasks would include boarding of vessels during combat or capture of prize ships and providing manpower for raiding ashore in support of the naval objectives.
With the industrialization of warfare in the 20th century the scale of landing operations increased; this brought with it an increased likelihood of opposition and a need for co-ordination of various military elements. Marine forces evolved to specialize in the skills and capabilities required for amphibious warfare.
The United States Armed Forces are the federal military forces of the United States. They consist of the Army, Marine Corps, Navy, Air Force, and Coast Guard. The President of the United States is the military's overall head, and helps form military policy with the U.S. Department of Defense (DoD), a federal executive department, acting as the principal organ by which military policy is carried out.
From the time of its inception, the military played a decisive role in the history of the United States. A sense of national unity and identity was forged as a result of victory in the First Barbary War and the Second Barbary War. Even so, the Founders were suspicious of a permanent military force. It played an important role in the American Civil War, where leading generals on both sides were picked from members of the United States military. Not until the outbreak of World War II did a large standing army become officially established. The National Security Act of 1947, adopted following World War II and during the Cold War's onset, created the modern U.S. military framework; the Act merged previously Cabinet-level Department of War and the Department of the Navy into the National Military Establishment (renamed the Department of Defense in 1949), headed by the Secretary of Defense; and created the Department of the Air Force and National Security Council.
The United States Marine Corps (USMC) is a branch of the United States Armed Forces responsible for providing power projection, using the mobility of the United States Navy to, by Congressional mandate, rapidly-deliver combined-arms task forces on land, at sea and in the air. The U.S. Marine Corps is one of the four armed service branches in the U.S. Department of Defense and one of the seven uniformed services of the United States. The current Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, the highest-ranking military officer in the U.S. armed forces, is a Marine Corps general.
The Marine Corps has been a component of the U.S. Department of the Navy since 1834, working closely with naval forces for training, transportation, and logistics. The USMC operates posts on land and aboard sea-going amphibious warfare ships around the world, and several of the Marines' tactical aviation squadrons, primarily Marine Fighter Attack squadrons, are also embedded in Navy carrier air wings and operate from the Navy's nuclear-powered aircraft carriers.
U.S. Marines assigned to Marine Wing Support Squadron (MWSS) 274, conduct Chemical Biological Radiological and Nuclear Training as part of the Air Base Ground Defense (ABGD) Field Exercise at Marine Auxiliary Landing Field Bogue, N.C. CBRN is an initialism used to refer to chemical, biological, radiological and nuclear warfare. Chemical, biological, radiological and nuclear defense (often abbreviated to CBRN defense or CBRND) is the term for protective measures taken in situations in which any of these four hazards are present. To account for improvised devices, the term CBRNe (e for explosives) is also used. CBRN defense consists of CBRN passive protection, contamination avoidance and CBRN mitigation. CBRN weapons or agents are often referred to as weapons of mass destruction (WMD). How...

A brief explanation on what NBC/CBRN threats actually are and how a conventional gas mask protects you from them. CBRN is the new term that replaced NBC. CBRN stands for: Chemical Biological Radiological Nuclear Most NBC/CBRN filters contain at least two layers, first a P3 particulate filter/HEPA filter which blocks particles such as dust and smoke as well as contaminated fluids entering the mask. Secondly, a charcoal or carbon filter that adsorbs chemical agents and any liquids that make it past the particulate filter. For the most part, the charcoal layer blocks the Chemical threats and the particulate filter blocks the biological and nuclear threats. Industrial filters work the same way, an ABEK-P combination filter being the closest equivalent, some of these are better choices for pr...

'Ontsmetters' in felgele astronautenpakken.

Fred Wehling, Associate Professor and Program Chair for Nonproliferation Studies at the Monterey Institute of International Studies (MIIS - http://www.miis.edu), analyses the reasons why attacks involving improvised explosive devices containing chlorine stopped suddenly after June 2007. Was there any indication that insurgents achieved their objectives or were stopped by coalition forces or perhaps by public opinion? The lecture took place at the James Martin Center for Nonproliferation Studies (CNS - http://cns.miis.edu) on January 18, 2012. Cabron
I see you in the park
You're always wearing
Dodger blue
mad dogging me and
anyone from my other crew
I am small but I am strong
I'll get it on with you
if you want me to
what else can I do
everyone would take a cue
from anything you do
if you want them to
what else can they do
I don't want to fight
I want to get along with you
this time of night's
for singing songs
about the local news
Cabron
I'll come around and make peace
get down make a barbeque
let's keep the moon awake and do electric boogiloo
I am small but I am strong
you see I'm just like you
if you only knew
that I'm just like you
All the world around
take a cue from
anything you do
if you only knew
that they're just like you
I don't want to fight
I want to get along with you
this time of night's
for singing songs
about the local news

What else can I do
if you want me to
cause I'm just like you
