Al Waxman
Albert Samuel Waxman, CM OOnt (March 2, 1935 – January 18, 2001) was a Canadian actor and director of over 1000 productions on radio, television, film, and stage. He is best known for his starring roles in the television series King of Kensington (CBC) and Cagney & Lacey (CBS).
Biography
Early life
Waxman was born in Toronto to Jewish immigrants from Poland. His parents operated and owned Melinda Lunch, a small restaurant. His father, Aaron Waxman, died when Al was nine.
Career
Waxman's career began at the age of twelve on CBC Radio, but it was not until 1975, when he began playing the role of Larry King on CBC's King of Kensington, that he became a Canadian icon.
In the 1980 award winning film Atlantic City starring Burt Lancaster, Waxman appeared as a rich cocaine buyer with a seemingly endless amount of cash.
During the 1980s, Waxman starred as the gruff but endearing Lt. Bert Samuels in the highly successful CBS television drama Cagney & Lacey.
During the 1990s, Waxman appeared in a variety of films and television shows, but began spending more time acting and directing in the theatre. In 1991, Al hosted Missing Treasures, a TV show which profiled missing children in Canada. He was also a founding member of the Academy of Canadian Cinema & Television.

Seaway is a Canadian drama series that aired on CBC Television from 1965 to 1966. The series was a Seaway Films production in collaboration with the UK's ATV, with production money provided by the CBC. It was presented by ASP and distributed internationally by ITC Entertainment (for international screenings ITC replaced the theme music by John Bath with another composition by Edwin Astley, and prepared a different title sequence).
Although officially Canadian, many of the show's writers and directors were American (as was the series creator/script supervisor Abraham Polonsky), with some British contributors as well (such as Ian McLellan Hunter and Donald James). Toronto Travel: Toronto: Kensington Market area - Al Waxman memorial
These video clips were taken during my walking tour with famous Toronto historian and tour guide Bruce Bell on July 16, 2007. After meeting at the famous and eclectic OCAD Building (I call it the "gift box on stilts") just south of the University of Toronto, Bruce took us past the Grange, Toronto's oldest building, past the Art Gallery of Toronto to some of the mansions along Beverley and Baldwin Streets. Along the way Bruce explained to us the early history of Toronto, and the family compact -- a group of extremely wealthy and powerful English families that used to rule Toronto in the early days. We then walked westwards to Chinatown and the ethnic mix of the Kensington Market area which started as a Scottish market, then became a popular Jewish residential area in the 1910s and 1920s ...

These video clips were taken during my walking tour with famous Toronto historian and tour guide Bruce Bell on July 16, 2007. We then walked westwards to Chinatown and the ethnic mix of the Kensington Market area which started as a Scottish market, then became a popular Jewish residential area in the 1910s and 1920s (evidenced by two local synagogues) and morphed into the diverse, multicultural and hip neighbourhood that it is today. Vendors sell fruits, vegetables, cheeses, dry goods, meat, fish, vintage clothing and all sorts of other unique items in this Bohemian neighbourhood. A great variety of different ethnic restaurants caters to eclectic tastes. We then visited Denison Square and admired a statue of one of Toronto's popular actors, Al Waxman, the "King of Kensington". We then continued on our walk through busy Chinatown to Toronto's Garment district along Spadina and Queen Avenues and then headed east along a variety of restaurants and bars on Queen Street West to end in front of the Italianate palace occupied by City TV. Along the way we got informed and entertained about Toronto's history from a small English enclave that started in 1793, to the exciting, vibrant and multicultural metropolis that it is today. The show starred Al Waxman as Larry King, a convenience store owner in Toronto's Kensington Market who was known for helping friends and neighbours solve problems.
The show's gentle but politically conscious humour is seen by some critics as a Canadian version of the topical Norman Lear sitcoms of the 1970s, such as All in the Family and Maude.

The series was a Seaway Films production in collaboration with the UK's ATV, with production money provided by the CBC. Although officially Canadian, many of the show's writers and directors were American (as was the series creator/script supervisor Abraham Polonsky), with some British contributors as well (such as Ian McLellan Hunter and Donald James). It was the most expensive series produced in Canada to that time with a total cost of $3 million, and although it did well enough for the CBC in terms of viewers a hoped-for sale to American network television never happened because the series, with the exceptions of the two-part episodes "Don't Forget to Wipe the Blood Off" and "Gunpowder and Paint," was shot in black and white and US network shows by that time were, with a few exceptions, in color.[1]

He is assisted by Department of Transport agent Leslie Fox (Austin Willis), and the special police force patrolling the Saint Lawrence Seaway. Episodes were filmed in various locations along the seaway, primarily Toronto and Montreal. They were generally set in Canada, although the two-parter "Gunpowder and Paint" was partially set in Cleveland (though filmed in Toronto.)

The lecture is free and open to the public, and will be held at 7:00 p.m. in the Wolfe Theater on FIU's Biscayne Bay Campus (3000 NE 151st Street, North Miami, FL).
Ambassador Waxman is a career diplomat who has served as interim Acting Deputy Director-General for Strategic Affairs and as Director of the Department for Non-Proliferation in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. As Director of Export Control for the Department of Defense from 2005 to 2007, Ambassador Waxman was involved in reforming Israel's system of export controls and legislation, and was a member of the UN Group of Experts on Illicit Brokering in Small Arms and Light Weapons.
Ambassador Waxman has also served as Counsellor at the Permanent Mission of Israel to the United Nations, where he represented Israel in a number of international organizations, including the World Health Organization, the International Labour Organization and the United Nations Conference on Trade and Development.

Tiene que dejar atrás su modus operandi –básicamente, saltarse las reglas- cuando le mandan colaborar con el inspector Fuji en una investigación.
Este japonés ha sido enviado a la ciudad para resolver el caso de un ingeniero oriental que huyó a Estados Unidos.
Ambos caracteres tienen personalidades totalmente opuestas. Sin embargo, a medida que la investigación avanza, no tendrán más remedio que ir acercando posiciones para lograr el éxito de la operación.
