Nanda (January 8, 1939, - March 25,2014) was born on to a Marathi-speaking family in Bombay. Her dad was actor Master Vinayak, and mom's name was Meenaxi. She has two brothers and a sister, who married into the Sindhi-speaking Gurbaxani family.
She starred with Shashi Kapoor in a lot of films while he was a newcomer, but they were not successful. But they later had a super hit with Jab Jab Phool Khile (1965). In this film Nanda played a westernised role for the first time and it helped her image.Her favorite song that was famously picturized on her in the film was "Yeh Samaa." Shashi Kapoor later declared that Nanda was his favorite heroine. Also, Nanda too, declared Shashi Kapoor as her favourite hero. She also has some more films with Shashi Kapoor to her credit. They are Mehandi Lagi Mere Haath, Raja Saab and Neend Hamari Khwab Tumhare. She also had a second hit film in 1965 with Gumnaam, which helped put her in the top league of heroines.With Manoj Kumar, she further worked in Mera Kasoor Kya Hai. She would continue to play heroine roles throughout the 1960s and signed with new leading men, such as Rajesh Khanna in the songless suspense thriller Ittefaq (1969) for which she received a Filmfare nomination as Best Actress. After Khanna became a star, he signed two more films with her, the thriller The Train (1970) and a comedy Joroo Ka Ghulam (1972). Jeetendra too did some films with her like Parivar with Sanjay Khan.
After a small role in Manoj Kumar's Shor (1972),Nanda did few more films such as Chhalia (1973), Naya Nasha (1974), then stopped appearing in films. In 1982, she came back in three films, all coincidentally playing heroine Padmini Kolhapure's mother in Ahista Ahista (1981 film), Mazdoor and Raj Kapoor's Prem Rog. Then she permanently retired from acting.
She has been close friends with actress Waheeda Rehman, ever since they co-starred in Kaala Bazaar. In 1965, when she was filming Jab Jab Phool Khile, director Suraj Prakash recalled that a very handsome Maharashtrian Lieutenant Colonel had been smitten by Nanda and had asked him to forward his marriage proposal to her mother, but in the end, nothing came of it. Nanda's brothers also brought home many suitors for her, but she turned them down. In 1992, a middle-aged Nanda became engaged to director Manmohan Desai at the urging of her best friend actress Waheeda Rehman. Today, Nanda lives in her residence in Mumbai interacting only with family and close friends, such as Saira Banu. After a long time she made a public appearance with Waheeda Rehman for screening of Marathi film Natarang.

Nandha is a movie about a young man from a juvenile jail coming back to a society and his family he had left many years ago. It is about a battle of love and life and how a misfit tries to fight to fit into the usual social circus, a fight to earn his mother's love and a fight to live the second chance he has given himself.
Nandha (Surya) is sent to a rehabilitation center for murdering his father as a boy. He returns home to a mother, who is deaf and mute, and a sister who are still in a state of shock after what has happened to their family.
He decides to get a new life by trying to give himself a college education. Having the record of being an ex-convict he finds it difficult to get a seat in a college. He meets Periyavar (Raj Kiran), a disciplinarian college principal who runs his college with an iron hand. Periyavar develops a soft corner for Nandha and guides him like his own son. Kalyani (Laila), a Tamil exile from SriLanka meets Nandha and both fall in love. Meanwhile the villain Saravanan asks Periyavar who also helps Sri Lankan students in his college a lot to aid an anti-social element, but Periyavar refuses outright.
But Periyavar's son-in-law agrees to help Saravanan. Meanwhile Periyavar falls sick and gets admitted in the hospital. Nandha stays around to look after his mentor and guide. Fearing what he has done might be out in the light, the son-in-law pulls out the oxygen tube of Periyavar in the hospital when Nandha is not around and blames Nandha for murdering his father-in-law. Nandha, having to deal with the pain of losing the only man who gave him a second chance to live, also struggles the fray of being convicted of murder once again and he chooses to kill Periyavar's son-in-law in the court campus. The case is dismissed due to the lack of evidence. Finally he is acquitted as there are no eyewitnesses to the murder.
After being acquitted for Periyavar's son-in-law's murder he returns home. His paranoid mother who still believes that her son still has murder instincts waits at home to feed a meal, which she has poisoned herself. He finds out that the food is poisoned when he eats it, but continues to do so with a satisfaction that he is being fed by his mother. He dies in his mother's lap and when his sister and Kalyani come out to see what has happened, they realise that both mother and son are dead.

Shashi Kapoor
Shashi Kapoor, born as Balbir Raj Prithviraj Kapoor on 18 March 1938, is an Indian film actor and film producer. He has also been a film director and assistant director in the Hindi film industry.
Shashi Kapoor is a member of the Kapoor family, a film dynasty in India's Bollywood cinema. He has appeared in a large number of Hindi language films as well as in a few English-language films.
In 2011, he was honoured with the Padma Bhushan by the Government of India for his contributions to Art-Cinema. In 2015, he was awarded the 2014 Dadasaheb Phalke Award, making him the third member of his family to receive the highest award in Indian Cinema after Prithviraj Kapoor and Raj Kapoor.
Career
Child artist
Kapoor was born in Calcutta (now Kolkata) during British Raj. He is the younger brother of Raj Kapoor and Shammi Kapoor, the son of Prithviraj Kapoor, the widower of Jennifer Kendal, and the father of Karan Kapoor, Kunal Kapoor, and Sanjana Kapoor. From the age of four, Shashi Kapoor acted in plays directed and produced by his father Prithviraj Kapoor, while travelling with Prithvi Theatres. He started acting in films as a child in the late 1940s, appearing in commercial films including Sangram (1950), Dana Paani (1953) under the name of Shashiraj as there was another actor by the same name who used to act in mythological films as child artiste. His best known performances as child artist were in Aag (1948) and Awaara (1951), where he played the younger version of the characters played by his older brother Raj Kapoor and in Sangram (1950), where he played younger version of Ashok Kumar. He worked in four Hindi films as a child artist from 1948 to 1954.

Jab Jab Phool Khile
Jab Jab Phool Khile (Hindi: जब जब फूल खिले; Urdu: جب جب پھول کھلے; Translated: 'Whenever the flowers bloomed') is a 1965 Indian Hindi movie. It stars Shashi Kapoor and Nanda. The story is of a poor boy who is a boatman in Kashmir and falls in love with a rich tourist. The film became a "blockbuster" at the box office. The songs by music composing duo Kalyanji Anandji assisted by then little-known Laxmikant Pyarelal are highlights of the film (lyrics by Anand Bakshi). The film was screened in Algeria's cinema halls every two days for a couple of years; there was, in fact, public demand for it. Shashi Kapoor was one of the most successful Indian actors in North African countries like Algeria, Morocco and Libya. In the souks of Marrakesh, even today some of the older shopkeepers will give you a discount if you are from the land of Shashi Kapoor.
Plot
Rita Khanna (Nanda), only daughter and an heiress of Raj Bahadur Chunnilal goes to Kashmir for a holiday along with her maid Stella (Shammi). There she rents a houseboat and becomes friendly with owner of that houseboat Raja (Shashi Kapoor). Raja was an innocent and romantic village guy who lives along with his younger sister Munni. After some misunderstandings, they grow friendly and Raja falls in love with Rita. Before starting back Rita promises Raja that she would come back the following year.

Meanwhile the villain Saravanan asks Periyavar who also helps Sri Lankan students in his college a lot to aid an anti-social element, but Periyavar refuses outright. But Periyavar's son-in-law agrees to help Saravanan. Meanwhile Periyavar falls sick and gets admitted in the hospital. Nandha stays around to look after his mentor and guide. Fearing what he has done might be out in the light, the son-in-law pulls out the oxygen tube of Periyavar in the hospital when Nandha is not around and blames Nandha for murdering his father-in-law. Nandha, having to deal with the pain of losing the only man who gave him a second chance to live, also struggles the fray of being convicted of murder once again and he chooses to kill Periyavar's son-in-law in the court campus. The case is dismissed due to the lack of evidence. Finally he is acquitted as there are no eyewitnesses to the murder. After being acquitted for Periyavar's son-in-law's murder he returns home. His paranoid mother who still believes that her son still has murder instincts waits at home to feed a meal, which she has poisoned herself. He finds out that the food is poisoned when he eats it, but continues to do so with a satisfaction that he is being fed by his mother. He dies in his mother's lap and when his sister and Kalyani come out to see what has happened, they realise that both mother and son are dead. -

Nanda (January 8, 1939, - March 25,2014) was born on to a Marathi-speaking family in Bombay. Her dad was actor Master Vinayak, and mom's name was Meenaxi. She has two brothers and a sister, who married into the Sindhi-speaking Gurbaxani family. She starred with Shashi Kapoor in a lot of films while he was a newcomer, but they were not successful. But they later had a super hit with Jab Jab Phool Khile (1965). In this film Nanda played a westernised role for the first time and it helped her image.Her favorite song that was famously picturized on her in the film was "Yeh Samaa." Shashi Kapoor later declared that Nanda was his favorite heroine. Also, Nanda too, declared Shashi Kapoor as her favourite hero. She also has some more films with Shashi Kapoor to her credit. Nanda (January 8, 1939, - March 25,2014) was born on to a Marathi-speaking family in Bombay. Her dad was actor Master Vinayak, and mom's name was Meenaxi. She has two brothers and a sister, who married into the Sindhi-speaking Gurbaxani family.
She starred with Shashi Kapoor in a lot of films while he was a newcomer, but they were not successful. But they later had a super hit with Jab Jab Phool Khile (1965). In this film Nanda played a westernised role for the first time and it helped her image.Her favorite song that was famously picturized on her in the film was "Yeh Samaa." Shashi Kapoor later declared that Nanda was his favorite heroine. Also, Nanda too, declared Shashi Kapoor as her favourite hero. She also has some more films with Shashi Kapoor to her credit. They are Mehandi Lagi Mere Haath, Raja Saab and Neend Hamari Khwab Tumhare. She also had a second hit film in 1965 with Gumnaam, which helped put her in the top league of heroines.With Manoj Kumar, she further worked in Mera Kasoor Kya Hai. She would continue to play heroine roles throughout the 1960s and signed with new leading men, such as Rajesh Khanna in the songless suspense thriller Ittefaq (1969) for which she received a Filmfare nomination as Best Actress. After Khanna became a star, he signed two more films with her, the thriller The Train (1970) and a comedy Joroo Ka Ghulam (1972). Jeetendra too did some films with her like Parivar with Sanjay Khan.
After a small role in Manoj Kumar's Shor (1972),Nanda did few more films such as Chhalia (1973), Naya Nasha (1974), then stopped appearing in films. In 1982, she came back in three films, all coincidentally playing heroine Padmini Kolhapure's mother in Ahista Ahista (1981 film), Mazdoor and Raj Kapoor's Prem Rog. Then she permanently retired from acting.
She has been close friends with actress Waheeda Rehman, ever since they co-starred in Kaala Bazaar. In 1965, when she was filming Jab Jab Phool Khile, director Suraj Prakash recalled that a very handsome Maharashtrian Lieutenant Colonel had been smitten by Nanda and had asked him to forward his marriage proposal to her mother, but in the end, nothing came of it. Nanda's brothers also brought home many suitors for her, but she turned them down. In 1992, a middle-aged Nanda became engaged to director Manmohan Desai at the urging of her best friend actress Waheeda Rehman. Today, Nanda lives in her residence in Mumbai interacting only with family and close friends, such as Saira Banu. After a long time she made a public appearance with Waheeda Rehman for screening of Marathi film Natarang.

Nandha is a movie about a young man from a juvenile jail coming back to a society and his family he had left many years ago. It is about a battle of love and life and how a misfit tries to fight to fit into the usual social circus, a fight to earn his mother's love and a fight to live the second chance he has given himself.
Nandha (Surya) is sent to a rehabilitation center for murdering his father as a boy. He returns home to a mother, who is deaf and mute, and a sister who are still in a state of shock after what has happened to their family.
He decides to get a new life by trying to give himself a college education. Having the record of being an ex-convict he finds it difficult to get a seat in a college. He meets Periyavar (Raj Kiran), a disciplinarian college principal who runs his college with an iron hand. Periyavar develops a soft corner for Nandha and guides him like his own son. Kalyani (Laila), a Tamil exile from SriLanka meets Nandha and both fall in love. Meanwhile the villain Saravanan asks Periyavar who also helps Sri Lankan students in his college a lot to aid an anti-social element, but Periyavar refuses outright.
But Periyavar's son-in-law agrees to help Saravanan. Meanwhile Periyavar falls sick and gets admitted in the hospital. Nandha stays around to look after his mentor and guide. Fearing what he has done might be out in the light, the son-in-law pulls out the oxygen tube of Periyavar in the hospital when Nandha is not around and blames Nandha for murdering his father-in-law. Nandha, having to deal with the pain of losing the only man who gave him a second chance to live, also struggles the fray of being convicted of murder once again and he chooses to kill Periyavar's son-in-law in the court campus. The case is dismissed due to the lack of evidence. Finally he is acquitted as there are no eyewitnesses to the murder.
After being acquitted for Periyavar's son-in-law's murder he returns home. His paranoid mother who still believes that her son still has murder instincts waits at home to feed a meal, which she has poisoned herself. He finds out that the food is poisoned when he eats it, but continues to do so with a satisfaction that he is being fed by his mother. He dies in his mother's lap and when his sister and Kalyani come out to see what has happened, they realise that both mother and son are dead.

Nanda (January 8, 1939, - March 25,2014) was born on to a Marathi-speaking family in Bombay. Her dad was actor Master Vinayak, and mom's name was Meenaxi. She has two brothers and a sister, who married into the Sindhi-speaking Gurbaxani family. She starred with Shashi Kapoor in a lot of films while he was a newcomer, but they were not successful. But they later had a super hit with Jab Jab Phool Khile (1965). In this film Nanda played a westernised role for the first time and it helped her image.Her favorite song that was famously picturized on her in the film was "Yeh Samaa." Shashi Kapoor later declared that Nanda was his favorite heroine. Also, Nanda too, declared Shashi Kapoor as her favourite hero. She also has some more films with Shashi Kapoor to her credit. In this film Nanda played a westernised role for the first time and it helped her image.Her favorite song that was famously picturized on her in the film was "Yeh Samaa." She would continue to play heroine roles throughout the 1960s and signed with new leading men, such as Rajesh Khanna in the songless suspense thriller Ittefaq (1969) for which she received a Filmfare nomination as Best Actress. After Khanna became a star, he signed two more films with her, the thriller The Train (1970) and a comedy Joroo Ka Ghulam (1972). Jeetendra too did some films with her like Parivar with Sanjay Khan.
After a small role in Manoj Kumar's Shor (1972),Nanda did few more films such as Chhalia (1973), Naya Nasha (1974), then stopped appearing in films. In 1982, she came back in three films, all coincidentally playing heroine Padmini Kolhapure's mother in Ahista Ahista (1981 film), Mazdoor and Raj Kapoor's Prem Rog. Then she permanently retired from acting.
She has been close friends with actress Waheeda Rehman, ever since they co-starred in Kaala Bazaar. In 1965, when she was filming Jab Jab Phool Khile, director Suraj Prakash recalled that a very handsome Maharashtrian Lieutenant Colonel had been smitten by Nanda and had asked him to forward his marriage proposal to her mother, but in the end, nothing came of it. Nanda's brothers also brought home many suitors for her, but she turned them down. In 1992, a middle-aged Nanda became engaged to director Manmohan Desai at the urging of her best friend actress Waheeda Rehman. Today, Nanda lives in her residence in Mumbai interacting only with family and close friends, such as Saira Banu. After a long time she made a public appearance with Waheeda Rehman for screening of Marathi film Natarang.

Nandha is a movie about a young man from a juvenile jail coming back to a society and his family he had left many years ago. It is about a battle of love and life and how a misfit tries to fight to fit into the usual social circus, a fight to earn his mother's love and a fight to live the second chance he has given himself.
Nandha (Surya) is sent to a rehabilitation center for murdering his father as a boy. He returns home to a mother, who is deaf and mute, and a sister who are still in a state of shock after what has happened to their family.
He decides to get a new life by trying to give himself a college education. Having the record of being an ex-convict he finds it difficult to get a seat in a college. He meets Periyavar (Raj Kiran), a disciplinarian college principal who runs his college with an iron hand. Periyavar develops a soft corner for Nandha and guides him like his own son. Kalyani (Laila), a Tamil exile from SriLanka meets Nandha and both fall in love. Meanwhile the villain Saravanan asks Periyavar who also helps Sri Lankan students in his college a lot to aid an anti-social element, but Periyavar refuses outright.
But Periyavar's son-in-law agrees to help Saravanan. Meanwhile Periyavar falls sick and gets admitted in the hospital. Nandha stays around to look after his mentor and guide. Fearing what he has done might be out in the light, the son-in-law pulls out the oxygen tube of Periyavar in the hospital when Nandha is not around and blames Nandha for murdering his father-in-law. Nandha, having to deal with the pain of losing the only man who gave him a second chance to live, also struggles the fray of being convicted of murder once again and he chooses to kill Periyavar's son-in-law in the court campus. The case is dismissed due to the lack of evidence. Finally he is acquitted as there are no eyewitnesses to the murder.
After being acquitted for Periyavar's son-in-law's murder he returns home. His paranoid mother who still believes that her son still has murder instincts waits at home to feed a meal, which she has poisoned herself. He finds out that the food is poisoned when he eats it, but continues to do so with a satisfaction that he is being fed by his mother. He dies in his mother's lap and when his sister and Kalyani come out to see what has happened, they realise that both mother and son are dead.

It is about a battle of love and life and how a misfit tries to fight to fit into the usual social circus, a fight to earn his mother's love and a fight to live the second chance he has given himself.
Nandha (Surya) is sent to a rehabilitation center for murdering his father as a boy. He returns home to a mother, who is deaf and mute, and a sister who are still in a state of shock after what has happened to their family.
He decides to get a new life by trying to give himself a college education. Having the record of being an ex-convict he finds it difficult to get a seat in a college. He meets Periyavar (Raj Kiran), a disciplinarian college principal who runs his college with an iron hand. Periyavar develops a soft corner for Nandha and guides him like his own son. Kalyani (Laila), a Tamil exile from SriLanka meets Nandha and both fall in love. Meanwhile the villain Saravanan asks Periyavar who also helps Sri Lankan students in his college a lot to aid an anti-social element, but Periyavar refuses outright.
But Periyavar's son-in-law agrees to help Saravanan. Meanwhile Periyavar falls sick and gets admitted in the hospital. Nandha stays around to look after his mentor and guide. Fearing what he has done might be out in the light, the son-in-law pulls out the oxygen tube of Periyavar in the hospital when Nandha is not around and blames Nandha for murdering his father-in-law. Nandha, having to deal with the pain of losing the only man who gave him a second chance to live, also struggles the fray of being convicted of murder once again and he chooses to kill Periyavar's son-in-law in the court campus. The case is dismissed due to the lack of evidence. Finally he is acquitted as there are no eyewitnesses to the murder.
After being acquitted for Periyavar's son-in-law's murder he returns home. His paranoid mother who still believes that her son still has murder instincts waits at home to feed a meal, which she has poisoned herself. He finds out that the food is poisoned when he eats it, but continues to do so with a satisfaction that he is being fed by his mother. He dies in his mother's lap and when his sister and Kalyani come out to see what has happened, they realise that both mother and son are dead.
