Opal
Opal is a hydrated amorphous form of silica (SiO2·nH2O); its water content may range from 3 to 21% by weight, but is usually between 6 and 10%. Because of its amorphous character, it is classed as a mineraloid, unlike crystalline forms of silica, which are classed as minerals. It is deposited at a relatively low temperature and may occur in the fissures of almost any kind of rock, being most commonly found with limonite, sandstone, rhyolite, marl, and basalt. Opal is the national gemstone of Australia.
The internal structure of precious opal makes it diffract light; depending on the conditions in which it formed, it can take on many colors. Precious opal ranges from clear through white, gray, red, orange, yellow, green, blue, magenta, rose, pink, slate, olive, brown, and black. Of these hues, the black opals are the most rare, whereas white and greens are the most common. It varies in optical density from opaque to semitransparent.
Precious opal
Precious opal shows a variable interplay of internal colors, and though it is a mineraloid, it has an internal structure. At microscopic scales, precious opal is composed of silica spheres some 150 to 300 nm in diameter in a hexagonal or cubic close-packed lattice. It was shown by J. V. Sanders in the mid-1960s, that these ordered silica spheres produce the internal colors by causing the interference and diffraction of light passing through the microstructure of the opal. The regularity of the sizes and the packing of these spheres determines the quality of precious opal. Where the distance between the regularly packed planes of spheres is around half the wavelength of a component of visible light, the light of that wavelength may be subject to diffraction from the grating created by the stacked planes. The colors that are observed are determined by the spacing between the planes and the orientation of planes with respect to the incident light. The process can be described by Bragg's law of diffraction.

Steven Universe
Steven Universe is an American animated television series created by Rebecca Sugar for Cartoon Network. It is the coming-of-age story of a young boy named Steven, who grows up in the town of Beach City living with three magical humanoid aliens, the "Crystal Gems" Garnet, Amethyst, and Pearl. Steven, who is half-Gem, goes on adventures with his friends and helps the Gems protect the world from their own kind. Sugar developed the series while working as a storyboard artist on Adventure Time, and it premiered on November 4, 2013 as Cartoon Network's first series to be created by a woman.
The series has received critical acclaim, being praised for its art design, music, voice acting, and complex characterization and science-fiction worldbuilding. It was nominated for an Emmy Award and five Annie Awards. Steven Universe was renewed for a third season in 2015. Companion books, comics, and a video game based on it have also been released.

Cartoon Network
Cartoon Network is an American basic cable and satellite television channel that is owned by the Turner Broadcasting System division of Time Warner. The channel airs primarily animated programming, ranging from action to animated comedy. It was founded by Betty Cohen and launched on October 1, 1992.
It is primarily aimed at children and teenagers between the ages of 7–16, and also targets older teens and adults with mature content during its late night daypart Adult Swim, which is treated as a separate entity for promotional purposes and as a separate channel by Nielsen for ratings purposes. A Spanish language audio track for select programs is accessible via SAP; some cable and satellite companies offer the Spanish feed as a separate channel.
As of February 2015, Cartoon Network is available to approximately 96.4 million pay television households (82.8% of households with television) in the United States.

Development
On August 4, 1986, Ted Turner's Turner Broadcasting System acquired Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer/United Artists from Kirk Kerkorian; due to concerns over the debt load of his companies, on October 17, 1986, Turner was forced to sell MGM back to Kerkorian after approximately only 74 days of ownership. However, Turner kept much of MGM's film and television library made prior to May 1986 (as well as some of the United Artists library) and formed Turner Entertainment.

Destin Sandlin
Destin Sandlin, born 1981, is an American engineer widely known for his educational video series, Smarter Every Day (SED), which he created in 2007 as an informal series of educational Youtube videos — and which he formally named Smarter Every Day in early 2011, with an episode titled Detonation vs Deflagration.
With more than 3 million subscribers, Sandlin was one of three Youtube channel hosts selected in early 2016, as part of a White House initiative to reach millennial audiences, to conduct a one-on-one interview with President Obama after his final State of the Union address.
Background
Sandlin attended the University of Alabama as an undergraduate, where he studied mechanical engineering. He later obtained a graduate degree in Aerospace Engineering from the University of Alabama in Huntsville. While an undergraduate, he was awarded the University of Alabama's Outstanding Senior Award. He is a full-time Missile Flight Test Engineer at Redstone Arsenal.
A resident of Alabama, Destin is married with four children (two daughters and two sons); is a practicing Christian and credits his grandfather for having shaped his world view and for encouraging his love of science.

Opals, Water and Time
Across the world, precious opal occurs in very few locations because it required a very special series of geological, climate and possibly biological phenomena to coincide for opals to form. These special criteria occurred in what is now the great desert regions of central Australia, which produces around 90% of the world's precious opal. Opals are formed from a solution of silicon dioxide and water. As water runs down through the earth, it picks up silica from sandstone, and carries this silica-rich solution through cracks and voids caused by natural faults or decomposing fossils. As the water evaporates, it leaves behind a silica deposit. 60 year old artist from Saskatoon, Canada. Instead of becoming a hustler, he started drawing. Drawing is his only source of earning, and streets are his store. A person who loves his simplistic way of life. Just like his line sailboat drawings. He might not have a nice home to live in. Where he doesn't have a proper place to sleep in. Has no table to draw on. Or even electricity in his apartment. Yet his positiveness toward life. And passion toward art is very inspiring.
Even though people might see him on the street and call him "crazy" or "bum". It was an honour to get to know him and become friends. Definitely one of the most nicest stranger i have ever met in my life. I hope the City of Saskatoon, and the people in it help him as much as possible. So other homeless people get inspired by him.
Best place to find him: Every evening 7pm to 9pm (approximately). Around 2nd & 3rd avenue downtown. By the cineplex and all the bars.

Across the world, precious opal occurs in very few locations because it required a very special series of geological, climate and possibly biological phenomena to coincide for opals to form. These special criteria occurred in what is now the great desert regions of central Australia, which produces around 90% of the world's precious opal.
Opals are formed from a solution of silicon dioxide and water. As water runs down through the earth, it picks up silica from sandstone, and carries this silica-rich solution through cracks and voids caused by natural faults or decomposing fossils. As the water evaporates, it leaves behind a silica deposit. This cycle repeats over very long periods of time, and eventually opal is formed.
