Struggle and Triumph: The Legacy of George Washington Carver was nearly three years in the making. Produced by Signature Communications, the film examines how Carver endured childhood tragedy, racism and violence throughout his lifetime, yet overcame obstacles to become a renowned scientist, teacher and humanitarian.
The park's first film in 30 years, Struggle and Triumph features an outstanding cast, powerful narration, fascinating historic footage and photographs, and reenactments of specific junctures in Carver's life. The soundtrack includes original music written specifically for the film. In addition, listen for the traditional gospel song, Must Jesus Bear The Cross Alone, George Washington Carver's favorite hymn.
Filming took place at carefully selected locations, depicting the settings of key places in George Washington Carver's life.
This film features Altorro Prince Black as Carver, Tyler Black as the young George and Sheryl Lee Ralph as Narrator. Musical score by Bobby Horton. Shot on location in Missouri, Alabama, New York state and Washington, DC. Produced by Signature Communications for the National Park Service, George Washington Carver National Monument.

SHERYL LEE RALPH, Tony award nominated actress, narrates Struggle and Triumph. Her career includes starring in the original Broadway production of Dreamgirls, and the television series Moesha. Her narration is warm, engaging and thought-provoking.
BOBBY HORTON, winner of multiple Grammy awards, composed and performed the film's soundtrack. Horton also produced the music for Ken Burns' The Civil War.

Prince
A prince is a male ruler, monarch, or member of a monarch's or former monarch's family. Prince is also a hereditary title in the nobility of some European states. The feminine equivalent is a princess. Black
Black is the darkest color, the result of the absence of or complete absorption of light. It is the opposite of white (the combined spectrum of color or light). It is an achromatic color, literally a color without color or hue. It is one of the four primary colors in the CMYK color model, along with cyan, yellow, and magenta, used in color printing to produce all the other colors.
Black was one of the first colors used by artists in neolithic cave paintings. In the 14th century, it began to be worn by royalty, the clergy, judges and government officials in much of Europe. It became the color worn by English romantic poets, businessmen and statesmen in the 19th century, and a high fashion color in the 20th century.
In the Roman Empire, it became the color of mourning, and over the centuries it was frequently associated with death, evil, witches and magic. According to surveys in Europe and North America, it is the color most commonly associated with mourning, the end, secrets, magic, force, violence, evil, and elegance.

George Washington
George Washington (February 22, 1732 [O.S. February 11, 1731] – December 14, 1799) was the first President of the United States (1789–97), the Commander-in-Chief of the Continental Army during the American Revolutionary War, and one of the Founding Fathers of the United States. He presided over the convention that drafted the current United States Constitution and during his lifetime was called the "father of his country".
Widely admired for his strong leadership qualities, Washington was unanimously elected president in the first two national elections. He oversaw the creation of a strong, well-financed national government that maintained neutrality in the French Revolutionary Wars, suppressed the Whiskey Rebellion, and won acceptance among Americans of all types. Washington's incumbency established many precedents, still in use today, such as the cabinet system, the inaugural address, and the title Mr. President. His retirement from office after two terms established a tradition that lasted until 1940, when Franklin Delano Roosevelt won an unprecedented third term. The 22nd Amendment (1951) now limits the president to eight years in office.

George Washington Carver
George Washington Carver (c. 1860 – 5 January 1943), was an American botanist and inventor. The exact day and year of his birth are unknown; he was born into slavery in Missouri, either in 1861, or January 1864.
Carver's reputation is based on his research into and promotion of alternative crops to cotton, such as peanuts,and sweet potatoes, which also aided nutrition for farm families. He wanted poor farmers to grow alternative crops both as a source of their own food and as a source of other products to improve their quality of life. The most popular of his 44 practical bulletins for farmers contained 105 food recipes using peanuts. He spent years developing and promoting numerous products made from peanuts; none were commercially successful. He was also a leader in promoting environmentalism. He received numerous honors for his work, including the Spingarn Medal of the NAACP.
He was widely recognized and praised in the white community for his many achievements and talents. In 1941, Time magazine dubbed Carver a "Black Leonardo".

Channel Awesome
Channel Awesome, Inc. is an online media production company based in Lombard, Illinois. The company was created in 2008 by Mike Michaud, Mike Ellis, and Bhargav Dronamraju. Channel Awesome operated the That Guy with the Glasses website (often shortened to TGWTG) until late 2014, when it was replaced by the current Channel Awesome website.
That Guy With The Glasses previously hosted fellow channels by Bar Fiesta beginning in November 2009, Blistered Thumbs beginning in November 2010. As of May 2015, Channel Awesome currently hosts a YouTube channel of the same name with an emphasis on the Walker Brothers' content, as well as the YouTube channel League of Super Critic that includes several of the site's other top producers. All of Channel Awesome's content is hosted by Blip or YouTube.
Origins
Mike Michaud, Mike Ellis and Bhargav Dronamraju created Channel Awesome after they were laid off from Circuit City in 2007. The three discussed the idea of such a company while still employed, but their dismissal was the impetus to put their plans into action. Michaud has stated that "If we didn't lose our jobs, [the business] wouldn't have happened anytime soon."

The day after Christmas didn't draw the same throngs of shoppers to area stores that Black Friday did, but there was a lot of shopping and gift returning going on anyway.Betty and Rob Blackburn were at Petco with Abigail, a 13-week-old basset hound. The puppy was Rob's surprise Christmas present and, like any new arrival, she required "stuff." ... ....
