Megan Leah McCormick (born 1973) is a North American-born TV presenter, who is one of the main hosts of the Pilot Productions travel-adventure series Globe Trekker (also called Pilot Guides in Australia, Canada and the United States and originally broadcast as Lonely Planet). She also hosted the television series Sea Nation, which aired in 2010.
McCormick was born in Cincinnati, Ohio and raised in Florida. As a child, she had an interest in ballet. In 1996, she began a job in Japan teaching English and has also worked as a social worker. and behind the scenes of MSNBC. She graduated from Boston University with a B.S. degree in Philosophy and Political Science and currently resides in New York.
Since 1998, she has been a presenter on Globe Trekker, and has hosted episodes on Greece, Italy, Ghana, Indonesia, Sri Lanka, China, India, Egypt, and Japan. She hosted the New England episode, where she herself attended university. Production of this episode was difficult for her and the crew, as filming had just begun as the 9/11 attacks occurred. She also presented Treks in a Wild World, a show which emphasizes ecotourism and history and also has adventure elements. Before joining Pilot Productions, McCormick worked behind the scenes on The News with Brian Williams on the CNBC and MSNBC cable networks.
Globe Trekker (sometimes called Pilot Guides in Australia and Thailand, and originally broadcast as Lonely Planet) is an adventure tourism television series produced by Pilot Productions. The British series was inspired by the Lonely Planet travelbooks and began airing in 1994. Globe Trekker is broadcast in over 40 countries across six continents. The program won over 20 international awards, including six American Cable Ace awards.
Each episode features a host, called a traveller, who travels with a camera crew to a country—often, a relatively exotic locale—and experiences the sights, sounds, and culture that the location has to offer. Special episodes feature in-depth city, beach, ape, dive, volcano, shopping, journey, history, festival, and food guides.
The show often goes far beyond popular tourist destinations in order to give viewers a more authentic look at local culture. Presenters usually participate in different aspects of regional life, such as attending a traditional wedding or visiting a mining community. They address the viewer directly, acting as tourists-turned-tour guides, but are also filmed interacting with locals and discovering interesting locations in (mostly) unrehearsed sequences. Globe Trekker also sometimes includes brief interviews with backpackers who share tips on independent travel in that particular country.
Ian Edward Wright, MBE (born 3 November 1963) is an English former professional footballer turned television and radio personality.
Wright enjoyed success with London clubs Crystal Palace and Arsenal, spending six years with the former and seven years with the latter. With Arsenal he has lifted the Premier League title, both major domestic trophies, and the European Cup Winners Cup. He played 581 league games, scoring 387 goals for seven clubs in Scotland and England, earning 33 caps for the English national team.
He also played in the Premier League for West Ham United, the Scottish Premier League for Celtic and the Football League for Burnley and Nottingham Forest.
After retiring from the game he has been active in the media, usually in football related TV and radio shows. His sons, Bradley and Shaun are both professional footballers.
Wright came to professional football relatively late. Despite having had trials at Southend United and Brighton during his teens, he was unable to attract sufficient interest to win a professional contract offer. Reverting to playing for amateur and non-league teams, he was left disillusioned about his chances of a career as a professional footballer.

These are some of the highlights from the last 10 years I have traveled the world as one of the hosts of Globe Trekker. It's been a wild ride and I have loved every minute of it!
Globe Trekker Megan McCormick travels to Barcelona in the Spanish region of Catalunya where she discovers a culture which prides itself on being different. With its sunkissed beaches, and Gothic palaces it’s an Olympian city worthy of the gods and the modernist capital of the world where some of the greatest artists on earth found their fame. First off, Megan travels back in time to the city’s “grey years” - between the end of the civil war and General Franco’s death – when there was a huge zest for change, to move on to a new era. It stoked the desire to transform the city itself, while the Olympic Games bid and then the Games themselves provided extra incentive, not to mention cash. The finest architects and urban planners were persuaded to take part in this vision. The axis upon which ...
Megan McCormick travels to the lands of Abba, Vikings and Smorgasbords as she uncovers what Sweden and Denmark can offer to the global traveller. Starting in the Danish capital, Copenhagen, Megan takes herself on a city tour to learn more about the famous mermaid and Hans Christian Anderson, all with the aid of a free city bike! In Aarhus on the Danish mainland, one of the biggest Viking festivals in the world brings together 300 warriors for one almighty battle, and a weekend of living and drinking like the Vikings! Then it’s onto one of Denmark’s most famous attractions, the free state of Christiania. Megan is welcomed by the locals and spends time learning about their lives, taking a tour of the collective and sussing out a few passing policemen! Sweden is the next stop, via the magni...
Megan McCormick, along with family and friends, leave everything behind to take on a completely new way of life by joining "Sea Nation". 6 Captains, 10 boats and 22 islands later, the crew travel full circle, arriving back in New York City on the 4th of July.
Traveller Megan McCormick begins her journey in the island paradise of Hawaii on Kauai, the least explored of the islands. She is invited to a Hula ceremony and learns that dancing was how the natives expressed their history and culture in the days before the Hawaiian language evolved. The main staple of the Hawaiian diet is a vegetable called taro. Megan lends a hand with the harvest, and is invited to taste the fruit of her labours at a Luau the following evening. Meanwhile, she kayaks down the Wailua River into the rainforest and treks into the forest to an isolated spot where she takes a refreshing dip in a waterfall. From Kauai, Megan flies to Oahu, the most populated of the islands. At the tourist haven of Waikiki she heads for the beach and takes a surfing lesson, learning how to ...

Germany only became a country in 1871, yet no nation has had a greater impact on the face of Europe. Megan McCormick and Justine Shapiro set out on a journey to look beyond the stereotypes and seek out the real Germany. Megan begins her journey in Berlin. After World War II, Germany was divided into 2 countries: the Communist DDR in the East and the Federal Republic in the West. The most potent symbol of that division was the Berlin Wall which, until re-unification in 1989, ran right through the city. Megan sees one of the last remaining sections of Wall, checking out how the city's expansive new building program and modern architecture is transforming the city into a European capital fit for the 21st century. After joining comedian Fatih Cevikkollu to visit the neighborhood of Kreuzberg,...

Megan McCormick Interview Singapore Radio 07: Megan has been picked by the Singapore Tourism Board to front a new campaign that showcases Singapore as a premier destination.
Not only did Sir Richard invite us for breakfast, he spent time showing us around his spectacular island and shared with us what he does with his spare time. He's one of the best billionaires I've ever met! Except when he almost wouldn't let us use the footage we shot for my new series Sea Nation! Cheeky, I tell you. Cheeky. The rest of the interview is part of the show, so look out for it! "Like" our Facebook page for regular updates!
