Hyundai i20

The Hyundai i20 is a supermini car produced by the South Korean manufacturer Hyundai since 2008. The i20 made its debut at the Paris Motor Show in October 2008 and sits between the i10 and i30. It is a front-wheel drive car and is available in three and five-door versions. The i20 replaces the Getz in nearly all of its markets, though the Getz was not phased out in most of the world until 2011.

The second generation i20 (Elite i20 in India) was launched in August 2014.

First generation

The Hyundai i20 uses a completely new platform that was created at Hyundai's European technical centre in Rüsselsheim to allow Hyundai to move into Europe's highly competitive subcompact B-segment. A 2,525 mm (99.4 in) wheelbase helps endow the i20 with a generous passenger cabin. Suspension follows the supermini norm of MacPherson struts at the front and a torsion beam rear end with rack and pinion steering.

A slightly upgraded version of the i20, called the i-Gen i20, went on sale in India in March 2012 onward with tweaked headlamps, new front grille, tail lamps, and fog lamps. It follows the "Fluidic Sculpture" design philosophy with slightly re-tuned engines. A new next generation model, known as Elite i20 in India, was launched in India on August 11, 2014, and is plan to launch in Europe in 2014 Paris Motor Show.

Hyundai

Hyundai Group (Hangul: 현대그룹; hanja: 現代그룹; /ˈhjʌndɛ/) was a multinational chaebol (conglomerate) headquartered in Seoul, South Korea. It was founded by Chung Ju-yung in 1947 as a construction firm and Chung was directly in control of the company until his death in 2001.

Following the 1997 East Asian financial crisis and Chung's death, Hyundai underwent a major restructuring and break-up, which reduced the Hyundai Group's business to encompass only container shipping services, the manufacturing of elevators, and tourism. Today, most companies bearing the name Hyundai are not legally connected to Hyundai Group. They include Hyundai Motor Group, Hyundai Department Store Group, Hyundai Heavy Industries Group and Hyundai Development Company. However, most of the former subsidiaries of the Hyundai conglomerate continue to be run by relatives of Chung. If these companies were considered as forming a single broad family business, then it would remain the largest company in South Korea with enormous economic and political power in the country.

Maruti Suzuki

Maruti Suzuki India Limited, formerly known as Maruti Udyog Limited, is an automobile manufacturer in India. It is a subsidiary of Japanese automobile and motorcycle manufacturer Suzuki.As of November 2012, it had a market share of 50% of the Indian passenger car markets. Maruti Suzuki manufactures and sells popular cars such as the Alto, Swift, Zen, Swift DZire, SX4 and Omni. The company is headquartered at New Delhi. In February 2012, the company sold its ten millionth vehicle in India.

History

Maruti Udyog Limited was established in February 1981, though the actual production commenced only in 1983. It started with the Maruti 800, based on the Suzuki Alto kei car which at the time was the only modern car available in India. Its only competitors were the Hindustan Ambassador and Premier Padmini. Originally, 74% of the company was owned by the Indian government, and 26% by Suzuki of Japan.As of May 2007, the government of India sold its complete share to Indian financial institutions and no longer has any stake in Maruti Udyog.

Auto Express is a weekly motoring magazine sold in the United Kingdom published by Dennis Publishing. The Editor-in-Chief is Steve Fowler.

History and profile

Launched in September 1988, its 1,000th issue was published on 20 February 2008. Its only weekly competitor in Britain is the long established Autocar. In 2011 Auto Express was the biggest selling motoring magazine in Britain, with a circulation of 60,840.

Auto Express is known for its spy shots and speculative illustrations of forthcoming cars. It also covers news, road tests, first drives, readers' letters and feedback, product tests, long-term tests, used cars, prices, motorsport and comment columns. It has sister magazines in France: Auto Plus, and Germany: Auto Bild which follow the same format.

Since April 2001, Auto Express has published the J.D. Power-rivalling "Driver Power" satisfaction survey which shows the 100 best and worst cars to own that year.
