Sports Illustrated has been accused of photoshopping Ashley Graham’s bum
Another day, another magazine accused of photoshopping a plus-size model.
These Disney inspired blankets are perfect for all the lazy princesses out thereBecause while having the plus-size label on a cover (and the praise that comes with it) is acceptable, plus-size women’s actual bodies – complete with stretchmarks, cellulite, and areas that aren’t entirely smooth, is not, apparently.
After Vogue was accused of photoshopping Gigi Hadid’s hand as a way of sculpting Ashley’s waist, Sports Illustrated has been called out for their swimsuit edition, which was released in February.
Ashley Graham shared a photo of herself from the Sports Illustrated issue on Instagram, where it quickly attracted comments suggesting her bum had been photoshopped to look smaller.
‘Love this woman, hate how terribly photoshopped this is,’ said one commenter.
‘I think whoever did the Photoshop on this should be canned,’ added another. ‘They made a flat spot on her ass and you can see the edges have been altered.’
Not everyone agrees that there’s dodgy Photoshop going on, however.
Some commenters have suggested that Ashley’s seemingly smaller bottom is simply down to the angle of the photo, while the fuzzy outline of her bum is due to sand stuck to her skin.
A scroll through the comments sees them neatly divided into the Photoshop accusers, the Photoshop deniers, and the oblivious fans just telling Ashley how stunning she is (always nice).
‘From the angle it can look like it’s altered to seem like a small bum but it’s just sand and the angle,’ wrote one commenter. ‘No photoshop.’
Neither Ashley nor Sports Illustrated has issued a response to the controversy, but we’ve reached out to both the model and the magazine for comment. We’ll update this story if we hear back.
