Esta es la primera aparición en la pantalla del hombre murciélago. En esta oportunidad enfrentándose al Príncipe Dr. Daka, un científico genio al estilo de los filmes de guerra y espionaje (el serial fue filmado durante la Segunda Guerra Mundial).
El millonario Bruce Wayne y su pupilo el joven Dick Grayson en sus identidades secretas de Batman y Robin, deberán atrapar al malvado Dr. Daka antes que alcance sus objetivos.
El plan del Dr. Daka es sojuzgar a los Estados Unidos bajo su voluntad (obviamente el dominio japonés).
Mediante una de esas clásicas máquinas "lavacerebros" el Dr. Daka puede convertir un hombre en un zombie electrónico que obedece sus órdenes a la vez que envía datos al laboratorio que se encuentra oculto debajo de un parque de diversiones.
También posee un rayo mortal capaz de derribar muros, que funciona (un típico elemento en los '40) a fuerza de "radium".
Y el infaltable pozo con cocodrilos para tirar a los enemigos, que servirá como desafío a las habilidades escapatorias de Batman.
El serial fue de bajo presupuesto, y son así criticados algunos de los decorados y puestas en escena.
Como por ejemplo la Baticueva (incorporada al comic book poco tiempo después, junto con su entrada secreta a través de un reloj de pie) está hecha por poco convincentes paredes de yeso pintado, con un típico escritorio de oficina (de madera) y murciélagos revoloteando pero a la vez proyectando las sombras de los alambres que los sujetan.
Y también Batman recibe críticas por su vestimenta, ya que el traje ceñido y amenazante que vestía en el comic book, se ve en el serial como unos abultados y "rellenados" buzo y calzas, con una capa floja y ondulante.
El Batimóvil tampoco se salva de la critica, por tratarse simplemente de un convertible común y corriente.
A todo esto, se suman algunos "bloopers", infaltables en cualquier serie o film de bajo presupuesto. Por ejemplo escenas consecutivas de una misma pelea, en las que la capa de Batman se ve torcida, luego en posición correcta y luego torcida nuevamente, o una dirección escrita en una carta dirigida a Bruce Wayne que dice Los Angeles, cuando la acción es dicho hasta el cansancio transcurre en Gotham City.
Por tratarse de los tiempos de la Segunda Guerra Mundial, es notoria la manera con la que los Estados Unidos manifestaban su malestar hacia los japoneses.
Y eso tiene su peso en el argumento, ya que Batman y Robin no son luchadores "independientes" contra el crimen (tal como lo eran en el comic book), sino una especie de espías al servicio del gobierno de los EEUU, mientras que el villano Dr. Daka, forma parte de la Quinta Columna japonesa.
También el racismo aparece en el guión con términos como "shifty-eyed Japs" (algo así como "japoneses ojos tramposos") o en "twisted Oriental brain" (retorcido cerebro Oriental).
Más allá de las críticas, el serial puede resultar interesante por reunir muchos de los típicos recursos de la época para crear intriga y suspenso, como los llamados "cliffhangers" que son las escenas de tensión y peligro en las que termina un capítulo, para ser resueltas en el próximo.
También el hecho de que Batman está fuera de los cánones de la excelente comedia que fue la de los años '60, y está dentro de lo que es una trama que podríamos llamar "oscura y seria"; aunque los clichés inocentes de la época así como los bajos costos y sus consecuencias, a menudo generen lo contrario.

He sends his young sister Nelia to live with relatives, but she is unhappy there and returns home. She hooks up with Jenny, whom Jeff is in love with, and an old man whose claim to fame is the building of a sloop in his back yard. Jeff is eventually listed as Missing, and while sleeping on the boat a storm comes up and blows the boat (on wheels) away. A traveling dentist helps them out and they eventually launch the boat into a river, and begin a trip that Nelia is sure will end up in rescuing her father.

The Living Ghost
The Living Ghost is a 1942 American film directed by William Beaudine. The Living Ghost was released on videocassette as A Walking Nightmare.
The film is also known as Lend Me Your Ear in the United Kingdom.
Plot summary
This is a low-budget criminal melodramatic story with faint horror movie tendencies. Lead character Nick Trayne is played by future Academy award-winner James Dunn. Nick Trayne is a slightly eccentric former private detective who has retired to pursue a more leisurely occupation gets lured back into business to investigate the disappearance of a banker - Walter Craig (Gus Glassmire). It is the banker's best friend, Ed Moline (Paul McVey) who hires him after the banker has disappeared from his home.
At the banker's estate, Nick meets his whole family, consisting of Craig's second wife Helen (Edna Johnson), his snobby daughter Tina (Jan Wiley), her fiancé Arthur Wallace (Howard Banks), Walter's nutty sister, Delia Phillips (Minerva Urecal), and her husband George (J. Arthur Young), as well as Walter's friend and former partner, Tony Weldon (George Eldredge).

Esta es la primera aparición en la pantalla del hombre murciélago. En esta oportunidad enfrentándose al Príncipe Dr. Daka, un científico genio al estilo de los filmes de guerra y espionaje (el serial fue filmado durante la Segunda Guerra Mundial).
El millonario Bruce Wayne y su pupilo el joven Dick Grayson en sus identidades secretas de Batman y Robin, deberán atrapar al malvado Dr. Daka antes que alcance sus objetivos.
El plan del Dr. Daka es sojuzgar a los Estados Unidos bajo su voluntad (obviamente el dominio japonés).
Mediante una de esas clásicas máquinas "lavacerebros" el Dr. Daka puede convertir un hombre en un zombie electrónico que obedece sus órdenes a la vez que envía datos al laboratorio que se encuentra oculto debajo de un parque de diversiones.
También posee un rayo mortal capaz de derribar muros, que funciona (un típico elemento en los '40) a fuerza de "radium".
Y el infaltable pozo con cocodrilos para tirar a los enemigos, que servirá como desafío a las habilidades escapatorias de Batman.
El serial fue de bajo presupuesto, y son así criticados algunos de los decorados y puestas en escena.
Como por ejemplo la Baticueva (incorporada al comic book poco tiempo después, junto con su entrada secreta a través de un reloj de pie) está hecha por poco convincentes paredes de yeso pintado, con un típico escritorio de oficina (de madera) y murciélagos revoloteando pero a la vez proyectando las sombras de los alambres que los sujetan.
Y también Batman recibe críticas por su vestimenta, ya que el traje ceñido y amenazante que vestía en el comic book, se ve en el serial como unos abultados y "rellenados" buzo y calzas, con una capa floja y ondulante.
El Batimóvil tampoco se salva de la critica, por tratarse simplemente de un convertible común y corriente.
A todo esto, se suman algunos "bloopers", infaltables en cualquier serie o film de bajo presupuesto. Por ejemplo escenas consecutivas de una misma pelea, en las que la capa de Batman se ve torcida, luego en posición correcta y luego torcida nuevamente, o una dirección escrita en una carta dirigida a Bruce Wayne que dice Los Angeles, cuando la acción es dicho hasta el cansancio transcurre en Gotham City.
Por tratarse de los tiempos de la Segunda Guerra Mundial, es notoria la manera con la que los Estados Unidos manifestaban su malestar hacia los japoneses.
Y eso tiene su peso en el argumento, ya que Batman y Robin no son luchadores "independientes" contra el crimen (tal como lo eran en el comic book), sino una especie de espías al servicio del gobierno de los EEUU, mientras que el villano Dr. Daka, forma parte de la Quinta Columna japonesa.
También el racismo aparece en el guión con términos como "shifty-eyed Japs" (algo así como "japoneses ojos tramposos") o en "twisted Oriental brain" (retorcido cerebro Oriental).
Más allá de las críticas, el serial puede resultar interesante por reunir muchos de los típicos recursos de la época para crear intriga y suspenso, como los llamados "cliffhangers" que son las escenas de tensión y peligro en las que termina un capítulo, para ser resueltas en el próximo.
También el hecho de que Batman está fuera de los cánones de la excelente comedia que fue la de los años '60, y está dentro de lo que es una trama que podríamos llamar "oscura y seria"; aunque los clichés inocentes de la época así como los bajos costos y sus consecuencias, a menudo generen lo contrario.

Jeff is eventually listed as Missing, and while sleeping on the boat a storm comes up and blows the boat (on wheels) away. A traveling dentist helps them out and they eventually launch the boat into a river, and begin a trip that Nelia is sure will end up in rescuing her father.

Esta es la primera aparición en la pantalla del hombre murciélago. En esta oportunidad enfrentándose al Príncipe Dr. Daka, un científico genio al estilo de los filmes de guerra y espionaje (el serial fue filmado durante la Segunda Guerra Mundial).
El millonario Bruce Wayne y su pupilo el joven Dick Grayson en sus identidades secretas de Batman y Robin, deberán atrapar al malvado Dr. Daka antes que alcance sus objetivos.
El plan del Dr. Daka es sojuzgar a los Estados Unidos bajo su voluntad (obviamente el dominio japonés).
Mediante una de esas clásicas máquinas "lavacerebros" el Dr. Daka puede convertir un hombre en un zombie electrónico que obedece sus órdenes a la vez que envía datos al laboratorio que se encuentra oculto debajo de un parque de diversiones.
También posee un rayo mortal capaz de derribar muros, que funciona (un típico elemento en los '40) a fuerza de "radium".
Y el infaltable pozo con cocodrilos para tirar a los enemigos, que servirá como desafío a las habilidades escapatorias de Batman.
El serial fue de bajo presupuesto, y son así criticados algunos de los decorados y puestas en escena.
Como por ejemplo la Baticueva (incorporada al comic book poco tiempo después, junto con su entrada secreta a través de un reloj de pie) está hecha por poco convincentes paredes de yeso pintado, con un típico escritorio de oficina (de madera) y murciélagos revoloteando pero a la vez proyectando las sombras de los alambres que los sujetan.
Y también Batman recibe críticas por su vestimenta, ya que el traje ceñido y amenazante que vestía en el comic book, se ve en el serial como unos abultados y "rellenados" buzo y calzas, con una capa floja y ondulante.
El Batimóvil tampoco se salva de la critica, por tratarse simplemente de un convertible común y corriente.
A todo esto, se suman algunos "bloopers", infaltables en cualquier serie o film de bajo presupuesto. Por ejemplo escenas consecutivas de una misma pelea, en las que la capa de Batman se ve torcida, luego en posición correcta y luego torcida nuevamente, o una dirección escrita en una carta dirigida a Bruce Wayne que dice Los Angeles, cuando la acción es dicho hasta el cansancio transcurre en Gotham City.
Por tratarse de los tiempos de la Segunda Guerra Mundial, es notoria la manera con la que los Estados Unidos manifestaban su malestar hacia los japoneses.
Y eso tiene su peso en el argumento, ya que Batman y Robin no son luchadores "independientes" contra el crimen (tal como lo eran en el comic book), sino una especie de espías al servicio del gobierno de los EEUU, mientras que el villano Dr. Daka, forma parte de la Quinta Columna japonesa.
También el racismo aparece en el guión con términos como "shifty-eyed Japs" (algo así como "japoneses ojos tramposos") o en "twisted Oriental brain" (retorcido cerebro Oriental).

"WAKE UP AND DREAM" Summary - Although he has a farmer's draft deferrment, Jeff enlist in the Navy during WWII. He sends his young sister Nelia to live with relatives, but she is unhappy there and returns home. She hooks up with Jenny, whom Jeff is in love with, and an old man whose claim to fame is the building of a sloop in his back yard. Jeff is eventually listed as Missing, and while sleeping on the boat a storm comes up and blows the boat (on wheels) away. A traveling dentist helps them out and they eventually launch the boat into a river, and begin a trip that Nelia is sure will end up in rescuing her father.
