CBS This Morning is an American morning television program that is broadcast on CBS. The program, which shares its title with a more traditionally formatted morning program that aired on the network from 1987 to 1999, airs Monday through Saturdays from 7:00 to 9:00 a.m. in all time zones (airing live in the Eastern Time Zone and on tape-delay in the Central and Mountain Time Zones; stations in the Pacific Time Zone receive an updated feed with a specialized opening and updated live reports). It is the tenth distinct morning news-features program format that CBS has aired since 1954, having replaced The Early Show on January 9, 2012.
The weekday edition of the program is currently anchored by Charlie Rose, Gayle King and Norah O'Donnell. The program emphasizes general national and international news stories and in-depth reports throughout each edition, although it also includes live in-studio and pre-taped interviews. The format was chosen as an alternative to the soft news and lifestyle-driven formats of competitors Today and Good Morning America following the first hour or half-hour of those broadcasts, in an attempt to give the program a competitive edge with its hard news format (CBS has historically placed third in the ratings among the network morning shows).

Foo Fighters is an American rock band, formed in Seattle in 1994. It was founded by Nirvana drummer Dave Grohl as a one-man project following the death of Kurt Cobain and the resulting dissolution of his previous band. The group got its name from the UFOs and various aerial phenomena that were reported by Allied aircraft pilots in World War II, which were known collectively as foo fighters.
Prior to the release of Foo Fighters' 1995 debut album Foo Fighters, which featured Grohl as the only official member, Grohl recruited bassist Nate Mendel and drummer William Goldsmith, both formerly of Sunny Day Real Estate, as well as Nirvana touring guitarist Pat Smear to complete the lineup. The band began with performances in Portland, Oregon. Goldsmith quit during the recording of the group's second album, The Colour and the Shape (1997), when most of the drum parts were re-recorded by Grohl himself. Smear's departure followed soon afterward.

Having made his mark in Washington DC hardcore band Scream in the mid 1980s, Grohl is said to have performed with more than 30 different bands during his career to date, but it will long remain Nirvana and The Foos for which he is remembered first and last and always. This film tells the Dave Grohl story from his earliest performances as a teenager at the 9.30 Club in DC, right up to his global status as mainstay in one of the world s finest bands around today. http://www.politics-prose.com/book/9781580056441 The first time Virginia Grohl saw her son Dave perform in front of screaming fans, she knew he was destined to be a rock star, and she was right. As Dave rose to the top of the charts, Virginia started to wonder about other musicians’ mothers. She wanted to know if they were surprised by their children’s fame, if they enjoyed it, if they nagged their superstar sons and daughters about what to bring on the road. In From Cradle to Stage, she answers those questions, writing from interviews with the mothers of musicians including Dr. Dre, Michael Stipe, Amy Winehouse, and more—plus her own family photographs and stories about raising a legend. Virginia Grohl is a longtime educator and writer. She is also the mother of Dave Grohl (Foo Fighte...

With Kaki Kings latest album, Dreaming of Revenge released last March, and the recent success of teaming up with great artists such as Dave Grohl from the Foo Fighters we made sure not to miss out when we heard that Kaki was playing in Brighton. Not only has Kaki king been contributing to the Foo Fighters latest album and Tegan and Sara’s album but she has also been nominated for an Academy award for her part in the fantastic ‘into the wild’ soundtrack with Eddie Vedder. On Kaki Kings previous albums she was famous for her ethereal and haunting sounds which were entirely instrumental. With her latest album, produced by Velour records, Kaki has now added a little story telling to the songs with a greater concentration on the lyrics and vocals. She has also varied the album by using the...

After more than a decade without a release, Robbie Robertson has stepped back into the spotlight with “How To Become Clairvoyant”, a bluesy, introspective look back at his five decade-long journey in the rock and roll biz, which began in the bars of Toronto’s Yonge Street in the early 60s. We play a bit of Robbie at the 2011 Junos introducing an excerpt of Bruce MacDonald’s documentary on that famous Canadian musical thoroughfare, and then jump into his Letterman appearance shortly afterwards, where he debuted “He Don't Live Here No More” from the new record. Next stop was the Jools Holland show for an interview, and a slower number from the disc, "The Right Mistake", and just in case you’re curious about who those backing musicians are, they’re the members of Dawes, an LA outfit who turne...

Indiewire's interview with Dave Grohl at Sundance 2013.
Lying alone in this cold and quiet room
I can hear their whispers now
I can sense it: A turn is coming on
Lying alone in this cold and quiet room
The door is silently opening
I can sense it: A turn is coming on
Wincing faces, racked by pain
They come to me as I fall asleep
Climbing the stairs, to hide is vain
They will get me in this night so deep
Exhausted veins
Bloody drugs every day
Their needles in my brain
They gave me one more jab supposed to relieve all that pain
I tried to get away
To escape from that place
But my own legs betray me leaving body on that bed
Wincing faces, in front of me
They've come to me and I don't dare
To give that fight for eternity
