New footage has been released of the 2010 earthquake in Haiti. Most of it is from the National Library. It is very graphic footage. A building can be seen collapsing toward the end of the video.
This is a documentary produced during 2 trips to Haiti early 2010. I shot the entired HD video with Canon EOS DSLR 5DmkII and edited through Adobe Premiere Pro. Though i went to Sichuan, China to feature the earthquake in 2008, however, this time i truely experienced 2 major shakes, it was really an unforgetable chapter in my life. Canon Singapore has acknowledged my work and i would like to share this to all of you...

Earthquake Chile 8 8th 2010 Vol I
El terremoto de Chile de 2010 (conocido con el numerónimo 27F) fue un sismo ocurrido a las 03:34:08 hora local (UTC-3) del sábado 27 de febrero de 2010, que alcanzó una magnitud de 8,8 MW. El epicentro se ubicó en el mar chileno, frente a las localidades de Curanipe y Cobquecura,nota 1 cerca de 150 kilómetros al noroeste de Concepción y a 63 kilómetros al suroeste de Cauquenes, y a 30,1 kilómetros de profundidad bajo la corteza terrestre. El sismo tuvo una duración máxima de 4 minutos en las zonas cercanas al epicentro, y más de 2 minutos en la capital. Fue percibido en gran parte del Cono Sur con diversas intensidades, en lugares como Buenos Aires y São Paulo por el oriente.
Las regiones afectadas (de Norte a Sur) fueron Valparaíso, Metropolitana de Santiago, O'Higgins, Maule, Biobío y La Araucanía, que acumulan más de 13 millones de habitantes, cerca del 80 % de la población del país. En las regiones del Maule y del Biobío, el terremoto alcanzó una intensidad de IX en la escala de Mercalli, arrasando con gran parte de las ciudades como Constitución, Concepción, Cobquecura y el puerto de Talcahuano. Gran parte del centro de las ciudades de Curicó y Talca colapsó y su casco histórico quedó destruido en su totalidad. En las regiones de La Araucanía, O'Higgins y Metropolitana, el sismo alcanzó una intensidad de VIII provocando destrucción en la capital, Santiago, en Rancagua y en las localidades rurales. Las víctimas fatales llegaron a un total de 525 fallecidos.3 Cerca de 500 mil viviendas están con daño severo y se estiman un total de 2 millones de damnificados, en la peor tragedia natural vivida en Chile desde 1960.8 La presidenta Michelle Bachelet declaró el «estado de excepción constitucional de catástrofe» en las regiones del Maule y del Biobío.
Un fuerte tsunami impactó las costas chilenas como producto del terremoto, destruyendo varias localidades ya devastadas por el impacto telúrico. Debido a errores e indecisiones por parte de los organismos encargados de enviar la alarma de tsunami, no se alertó a la población acerca del evento que ocurrió 35 minutos después del terremoto. El archipiélago de Juan Fernández, pese a no sentir el sismo, fue impactado por el violento tsunami que arrasó con el único poblado, San Juan Bautista. El Centro de Alerta de Tsunamis del Pacífico generó pocos minutos después del terremoto una alerta de tsunami para el océano Pacífico, que se extendió posteriormente a 53 países ubicados a lo largo de gran parte de su cuenca, llegando a Perú, Ecuador, Colombia, Panamá, Costa Rica, Nicaragua, la Antártida, Nueva Zelanda, la Polinesia Francesa y las costas de Hawái.
El sismo es considerado como el tercero más fuerte en la historia del país y el octavo más fuerte registrado por la humanidad. Sólo es superado a nivel nacional por el cataclismo del terremoto de Valdivia de 1960, el de mayor magnitud registrado por el ser humano mediante sismómetros. El sismo chileno fue 31 veces más fuerte y liberó cerca de 178 veces más energía que el devastador terremoto de Haití ocurrido el mes anterior, y la energía liberada es cercana a 100 000 bombas atómicas como la liberada en Hiroshima en 1945.

A ferocious tsunami spawned by one of the largest earthquakes on record slammed Japan's eastern coast on Friday, killing hundreds of people as it swept away ships, cars and homes while widespread fires burned out of control. Police said 200 to 300 bodies were found in the northeastern coastal city of Sendai, the city in Miyagi prefecture, or state, closest to the epicentre. Another 137 were confirmed killed, with 531 people missing. Police also said 544 people were injured.

The tsunami associated with the Chile earthquake caused tsunami advisories and warning across the entire Ocean rim, also known as the Ring of Fire.

Japan Earthquake: Helicopter aerial view video of giant tsunami waves
A ferocious tsunami spawned by one of the largest earthquakes on record slammed Japan's eastern coast on Friday, killing hundreds of people as it swept away ships, cars and homes while widespread fires burned out of control. Police said 200 to 300 bodies were found in the northeastern coastal city of Sendai, the city in Miyagi prefecture, or state, closest to the epicentre. Another 137 were confirmed killed, with 531 people missing. Police also said 544 people were injured. El terremoto de Chile de 2010 (conocido con el numerónimo 27F) fue un sismo ocurrido a las 03:34:08 hora local (UTC-3) del sábado 27 de febrero de 2010, que alcanzó una magnitud de 8,8 MW. El epicentro se ubicó en el mar chileno, frente a las localidades de Curanipe y Cobquecura,nota 1 cerca de 150 kilómetros al noroeste de Concepción y a 63 kilómetros al suroeste de Cauquenes, y a 30,1 kilómetros de profundidad bajo la corteza terrestre. El sismo tuvo una duración máxima de 4 minutos en las zonas cercanas al epicentro, y más de 2 minutos en la capital. Fue percibido en gran parte del Cono Sur con diversas intensidades, en lugares como Buenos Aires y São Paulo por el oriente.
Las regiones afectadas (de Norte a Sur) fueron Valparaíso, Metropolitana de Santiago, O'Higgins, Maule, Biobío y La Araucanía, que acumulan más de 13 millones de habitantes, cerca del 80 % de la población del país. En las regiones del Maule y del Biobío, el terremoto alcanzó una intensidad de IX en la escala de Mercalli, arrasando con gran parte de las ciudades como Constitución, Concepción, Cobquecura y el puerto de Talcahuano. Gran parte del centro de las ciudades de Curicó y Talca colapsó y su casco histórico quedó destruido en su totalidad. En las regiones de La Araucanía, O'Higgins y Metropolitana, el sismo alcanzó una intensidad de VIII provocando destrucción en la capital, Santiago, en Rancagua y en las localidades rurales. Las víctimas fatales llegaron a un total de 525 fallecidos.3 Cerca de 500 mil viviendas están con daño severo y se estiman un total de 2 millones de damnificados, en la peor tragedia natural vivida en Chile desde 1960.8 La presidenta Michelle Bachelet declaró el «estado de excepción constitucional de catástrofe» en las regiones del Maule y del Biobío.
Un fuerte tsunami impactó las costas chilenas como producto del terremoto, destruyendo varias localidades ya devastadas por el impacto telúrico. Debido a errores e indecisiones por parte de los organismos encargados de enviar la alarma de tsunami, no se alertó a la población acerca del evento que ocurrió 35 minutos después del terremoto. El archipiélago de Juan Fernández, pese a no sentir el sismo, fue impactado por el violento tsunami que arrasó con el único poblado, San Juan Bautista. El Centro de Alerta de Tsunamis del Pacífico generó pocos minutos después del terremoto una alerta de tsunami para el océano Pacífico, que se extendió posteriormente a 53 países ubicados a lo largo de gran parte de su cuenca, llegando a Perú, Ecuador, Colombia, Panamá, Costa Rica, Nicaragua, la Antártida, Nueva Zelanda, la Polinesia Francesa y las costas de Hawái.
El sismo es considerado como el tercero más fuerte en la historia del país y el octavo más fuerte registrado por la humanidad. Sólo es superado a nivel nacional por el cataclismo del terremoto de Valdivia de 1960, el de mayor magnitud registrado por el ser humano mediante sismómetros. El sismo chileno fue 31 veces más fuerte y liberó cerca de 178 veces más energía que el devastador terremoto de Haití ocurrido el mes anterior, y la energía liberada es cercana a 100 000 bombas atómicas como la liberada en Hiroshima en 1945.

El terremoto de Chile de 2010 (conocido con el numerónimo 27F) fue un sismo ocurrido a las 03:34:08 hora local (UTC-3) del sábado 27 de febrero de 2010, que alcanzó una magnitud de 8,8 MW. El epicentro se ubicó en el mar chileno, frente a las localidades de Curanipe y Cobquecura,nota 1 cerca de 150 kilómetros al noroeste de Concepción y a 63 kilómetros al suroeste de Cauquenes, y a 30,1 kilómetros de profundidad bajo la corteza terrestre. El sismo tuvo una duración máxima de 4 minutos en las zonas cercanas al epicentro, y más de 2 minutos en la capital. Fue percibido en gran parte del Cono Sur con diversas intensidades, en lugares como Buenos Aires y São Paulo por el oriente.
Las regiones afectadas (de Norte a Sur) fueron Valparaíso, Metropolitana de Santiago, O'Higgins, Maule, Biobío y La Araucanía, que acumulan más de 13 millones de habitantes, cerca del 80 % de la población del país. En las regiones del Maule y del Biobío, el terremoto alcanzó una intensidad de IX en la escala de Mercalli, arrasando con gran parte de las ciudades como Constitución, Concepción, Cobquecura y el puerto de Talcahuano. Gran parte del centro de las ciudades de Curicó y Talca colapsó y su casco histórico quedó destruido en su totalidad. En las regiones de La Araucanía, O'Higgins y Metropolitana, el sismo alcanzó una intensidad de VIII provocando destrucción en la capital, Santiago, en Rancagua y en las localidades rurales. Las víctimas fatales llegaron a un total de 525 fallecidos.3 Cerca de 500 mil viviendas están con daño severo y se estiman un total de 2 millones de damnificados, en la peor tragedia natural vivida en Chile desde 1960.8 La presidenta Michelle Bachelet declaró el «estado de excepción constitucional de catástrofe» en las regiones del Maule y del Biobío.
Un fuerte tsunami impactó las costas chilenas como producto del terremoto, destruyendo varias localidades ya devastadas por el impacto telúrico. Debido a errores e indecisiones por parte de los organismos encargados de enviar la alarma de tsunami, no se alertó a la población acerca del evento que ocurrió 35 minutos después del terremoto. El archipiélago de Juan Fernández, pese a no sentir el sismo, fue impactado por el violento tsunami que arrasó con el único poblado, San Juan Bautista. El Centro de Alerta de Tsunamis del Pacífico generó pocos minutos después del terremoto una alerta de tsunami para el océano Pacífico, que se extendió posteriormente a 53 países ubicados a lo largo de gran parte de su cuenca, llegando a Perú, Ecuador, Colombia, Panamá, Costa Rica, Nicaragua, la Antártida, Nueva Zelanda, la Polinesia Francesa y las costas de Hawái.
El sismo es considerado como el tercero más fuerte en la historia del país y el octavo más fuerte registrado por la humanidad. Sólo es superado a nivel nacional por el cataclismo del terremoto de Valdivia de 1960, el de mayor magnitud registrado por el ser humano mediante sismómetros. El sismo chileno fue 31 veces más fuerte y liberó cerca de 178 veces más energía que el devastador terremoto de Haití ocurrido el mes anterior, y la energía liberada es cercana a 100 000 bombas atómicas como la liberada en Hiroshima en 1945.

Police said 200 to 300 bodies were found in the northeastern coastal city of Sendai, the city in Miyagi prefecture, or state, closest to the epicentre. Another 137 were confirmed killed, with 531 people missing. Police also said 544 people were injured.

The film follows two brothers, Clifford Muse and Huguens Jean, as they return to their native Haiti after the 2010 earthquake to commemorate their grandfather's passing. The disaster having prevented them from attending the funeral, Clifford and Huguens plan to create a traditional Haitian kite to celebrate the life of the man who molded their childhoods.
Upon arriving in Haiti, they are surprised to find a vibrant nation filled with people committed to sharing their stories. As Clifford and Huguens collect the materials for their kite, they begin to record the experiences of their countrymen, and the scope of their journey expands. Soon musicians, painters, politicians, educators, family and friends are adding their voices and even contributing to Clifford and Huguens's kite.
Their kite becomes a tapestry, depicting the life of Haiti after the quake. The familiar image of a Haitian child, standing on a roof, his kite soaring above, becomes a metaphor for the people of Haiti: surrounded by danger and standing on shaky ground while their spirits fight the wind, seeking their place in the sky.
Their journey at an end, Clifford and Hugues return to the US and fly their memorial kite at the 44th Annual Smithsonian Kite Festival. Despite mild wind, the kite dances hundreds of feet above the ground as a nation's soul soars.

On Jan. 12, 2010, Air Canada Flight 950 delivered 195 passengers from Montreal to Port au Prince, Haiti as it did each week. But on this day the businesspeople, expatriates and development workers were landing two-and-a-half hours before a devastating earthquake that literally ripped this tiny troubled nation apart.
The stories of those on board — many of whom knew one another from frequent trips taken on the same flight — offer a unique and engrossing window through which we witness the tragedy that struck Haiti and still reverberates in Canada. Some of those on board were killed instantly in the quake. Some were injured. Others were conscripted into the daunting crisis that overwhelmed the country — and overwhelms it still.
After the Earth Shook follows the struggles of four people with a special relationship to the country. A Haitian-Canadian entrepreneur, haunted by a murder that made him flee Haiti, is conflicted about recommitting to a country he considers more dangerous than ever. An eye surgeon who watched cherished colleagues crushed to death attempts to rebuild a hospital reduced to rubble that terrible day. A development worker finds the seed for positive change in a land traumatized by disaster and disease. And finally, an urban planner from Montreal tries to help the reconstruction of Haiti, but is turned away by a country more in need than ever.

Salem-News.com's Tim King reports: Two years ago, the infrastructure and human structure of Haiti was ripped apart and crushed without mercy by a monster earthquake that registered 7.0 on the Richter scale. The event ripped people apart from their loved ones, many of whom were lost and never found, and created scenarios where the piling up dead threatened disease and were burned en mass with little hesitation and no ceremony.
Among the panic, pain, struggle and inevitable loss, there were shining moments of rescue; people from all over the world moved in to help and they worked long and hard days and nights to pull trapped people from the wreckage of buildings after a week or more.
30-minute documentary contains graphic footage
