Friends is a 2001 Tamil comedy film directed by Siddique and produced by Appachan. The film featured Vijay, Suriya and Ramesh Khanna, in the title roles, while Devayani, Abhinyashree, Vijayalakshmi, Sriman and Vadivelu amongst others play supporting roles.
Aravindhan , Chandru and Krishnamurthy value friendship over everything else, even family, and for this reason, Chandru resists the advances of Aravindan's sister Amutha When the trio take up a painter's job at a mansion, Aravindan falls in love with Padmini .who lives there. Padmini's jealous cousin Abhirami makes him believe that his overtures are reciprocated. When the truth is revealed and Padmini rejects him outright, Chandru stands up for his friend and speaks ill of her. This makes her swear to separate the friends.
After the marriage, Aravindan realises the hand of Abhinaya behind all the mishaps and Padmini too realises Chandru is innocent. Then the marriage of Chandru and Amutha is arranged. The cousin of Aravindan who is in love with Amutha from his young age tries to separate the pair. He makes Chandru believe that Padmini is trying to kill Amutha. Padmini is now angry with Chandru. At last Aravindan tells the truth that in their small ages Chandru's mentally challenged brother was unknowingly killed by Aravindan. The cousin of Aravindan records this and makes this to be heard by Chandru. Chandru and Aravindan go by their ways. Aravindan tries to convince Chandru but he falls from the top of a mountain. Chandru believes that Aravindan is dead and feels very much for him. But after 5 years later he comes to meet Aravindan's family. Only to find out that Aravindan is not dead, but has end up in coma. The cousin of him is now torturing his family a lot. When he comes to know that Chandru has comeback, he goes and starts to beat him up. After hearing his beloved friend Chandru's cry of pain, Aravindan gets his memory back. Aravindan beats up the cousin and they all rejoin and live happily.
Jyothika and Suvalakshmi were cast first as the heroines, but later the roles went to Devayani and Vijayalakshmi respectively.

I really appreciate everyone who has taken the time to view this short montage. I casually uploaded it for a friend to see and, to my surprise, it's been viewed by many others!
I made it as part of a personal project. It is the conclusion to a private film history class I taught. I felt the best way to end the class was to evoke just a bit of the magic that the movies have brought to us.

Friend (Hangul: 친구; RR: Chin-gu) is a 2001 South Korean film written and directed by Kwak Kyung-taek. Upon its release, it became the highest-grossing South Korean movie of all time. Its record was surpassed in 2003 by Silmido.
This film is the director's experience about his friends, a semi-autobiography set in his hometown, Busan, and the actors speak with a strongly accented Busan dialect. The film changed the public images of Jang Dong-gun and Yu Oh-seong; previously, Jang had been famous for romantic comedies and Yu had appeared in movies with mostly cult interest.
Plot
The film follows the lives of four childhood friends: Joon-seok, the leader of the group and whose father is a powerful mob boss; Dong-su, whose father is an undertaker; class clown Jung-ho; and Sang-taek, who was an exemplary student. As children they play together, sell sexually explicit pictures cut from a magazine, and wonder if a South Korean Olympic swimmer could outrace a sea turtle. Jung-ho also showed the rest of them a VCR that his mother had, and this film he found on it. It turns out to be a pornographic movie, and the boys are entranced while arguing over what a "menstruation" was, with them believing that it was the word that adults used to describe the "vagina".

Her early death in 1996 provoked this essay on mortality. Hoffman’s goal: “to illuminate the conditions of her death… the mystery of her life and the reason why, at the instant of her passage, I felt peace with her leaving… a feeling I no longer hold.” Using painterly swatches of sunflowers, hand-processed film, found sound recordings, the “antiseptic fictions” of doctors and other mortal icons, Hoffman takes us on journeys to London, Helsinki and Egypt. Pondering morbidity in its many forms, Hoffman discloses an early photographic assignment involving his deceased grand-father, a failed suicide, and his own personal numerology of death centering on the number seventeen. Through these and other memories, he develops a soul-searching vocabulary of love for one whose journey continues into the beyond. ‘If you had to make up your own ritual for death, what would it be? Would it be private or shared?’ asked his partner, Marian. Hoffman’s answer is this beautiful document. (San Francisco International Festival Catalogue, 2002) What these ashes wanted places flesh on the poet Ann Carson’s words “…death lines every moment of ordinary time.” With this work Hoffman resides in an acutely intimate time, a daily practice of loss lived precariously between the terror of psychic disintegration and the provisional solace taken through public rituals of mourning. What these ashes wanted is not a story of surviving death, but rather, of living death through a heightening of the quotidian moments of every day experience. Instead, let me oblige you to indulge in the fantasy of a moment of inscription: imagine Phil Hoffman darkly embunkered in his digital basement, bringing to fruition several years’ hard work on his cinematic response to Marian’s death, a task whose already formidable cargo is further laden by an apprehensive public, friends and colleagues (and critics?) poised in anticipation, festival spotlight in the offing, book in preparation; and there is a deadline! And now consider that upstairs the bright world teems - new loves, new job, new life abundant, loud, alive, living on, waiting for Phil to join in, to live there too. Under these conditions, how is the work of mourning even possible? How possible is the making of the work mourning demands? How could one manage the intimacy required, or the courage, or the vulnerability, or the generosity? How could one avoid distraction, and I mean “being torn limb from limb.” How could one endure the thought of all the scrutiny about to ensue? To say that the task would be daunting is hardly adequate. It would have to be unbearable. Fortunately, we’re only fantasizing. Merely daunting is the present task (an altogether different sort of fantasy): what sort of address is possible toward a work so personal, so charged with grief, so apparently non-political as Hoffman’s What these ashes wanted, and how can it meet the demands of its venue, a magazine about cinema but also about action, whose name inscribes a certain militancy, a politics? How can one avoid the temptation to offer a respectful bromide, especially given the tragic loss out of which the film is built. Is it possible to wish to celebrate this filmmaker, his films, this film, and yet meet the work critically, engage it politically? I don’t know the answer to any of these questions. The last time I wrote about Phil’s work, I employed the device of having an imaginary conversation take place as a sort of preface to the piece.[1] I think I was trying to be entertaining. In it, I used an expression that has wide currency among (mainly white) people in the deep south, where I was living at the time. It’s an instance of what my friend Neil Schmitz would call “confederate discourse.” I wrote: “I might could have a twin brother.” Not surprisingly, a copy editor figured that I’d neglected to delete either the might or the could, and so deleted one of them for me. When I got the edited copy, I wrote “Stet” in the margin, and appended an explanation of the usage. So when the book came out, and the deletion remained unstetted (yup, that’s a word), I was hotter, as the Mobile gumbo-queens might say, than a black roux on a high flame. Editors were decried, publishers slandered. In retrospect, one sees how these things can happen, that nobody’s to blame. Pressure of deadline. Mere oversight. Might could happen this time, too. But I hope -

This was our very first digitally shot film and my first endeavors onto Final Cut Pro. Shot In London and Brighton in 2001, this marks 10 years of digital (as opposed to analogue) film making with my friends! it wasn't supposed to be anything fantastic, and i'd like to think we've improved immensely.

Making Magic
(Now in HD) I really appreciate everyone who has taken the time to view this short montage. I casually uploaded it for a friend to see and, to my surprise, it's been viewed by many others! I made it as part of a personal project. It is the conclusion to a private film history class I taught. I felt the best way to end the class was to evoke just a bit of the magic that the movies have brought to us. 'Dust 2 Dust' - Gay Short Film (GOLDEN OLDEN 2001)
In this silent and sentimental (with a twist of satire) short film, two friends decide what to do with their deceased friend's ashes. This was our very first digitally shot film and my first endeavors onto Final Cut Pro. Shot In London and Brighton in 2001, this marks 10 years of digital (as opposed to analogue) film making with my friends! it wasn't supposed to be anything fantastic, and i'd like to think we've improved immensely.

This is a university video-project made by "Game Design"-students from munich. Done in a single-shot fashion...well almost single shot =) The film covers different eras of the video-game history. Took us a week to organise the various props (controllers, monitors. lighting, camera, etc.), two whole days to film and several days of postproduction. Video piece number 49. Made for the Vimeo Weekend Project "Pet Portrait" in 2013 instead of doing the housework in Inverness. For non commercial purposes only. After I made Waiting ( https://vimeo.com/m/55645079 ) late last year, I was eager to try this simple method of stick man animation again. I was really pleased with how Waiting ( https://vimeo.com/m/55645079 ) turned out and consider it to be one of my best short films. I wanted to enter this challenge but currently having no Pets meant that I couldn't make a conventional Pet Portrait. So I decided to quickly attempt something in the stick man style again. Wired (Short Film) (2001)
"Wired" (a short film) was an assignment for Chapman University, Orange, California that my friend Ann and I collaborated on in 2001. Assigned as a Winter vacation project, Ann called me and said, "So, you want to make a film this weekend? ...And by the way, do you have any ideas?" It was a simple and fun idea that I pitched in one breath. We began and completed filming the next day. The seven minute movie project came together pretty quick. Short films can be so much fun. Taking on commercial and short film projects is always an enthusiastic "Yes!"

Friends is a 2001 Tamil comedy film directed by Siddique and produced by Appachan. The film featured Vijay, Suriya and Ramesh Khanna, in the title roles, while Devayani, Abhinyashree, Vijayalakshmi, Sriman and Vadivelu amongst others play supporting roles.
Aravindhan , Chandru and Krishnamurthy value friendship over everything else, even family, and for this reason, Chandru resists the advances of Aravindan's sister Amutha When the trio take up a painter's job at a mansion, Aravindan falls in love with Padmini .who lives there. Padmini's jealous cousin Abhirami makes him believe that his overtures are reciprocated. When the truth is revealed and Padmini rejects him outright, Chandru stands up for his friend and speaks ill of her. This makes her swear to separate the friends.
After the marriage, Aravindan realises the hand of Abhinaya behind all the mishaps and Padmini too realises Chandru is innocent. Then the marriage of Chandru and Amutha is arranged. The cousin of Aravindan who is in love with Amutha from his young age tries to separate the pair. He makes Chandru believe that Padmini is trying to kill Amutha. Padmini is now angry with Chandru. At last Aravindan tells the truth that in their small ages Chandru's mentally challenged brother was unknowingly killed by Aravindan. The cousin of Aravindan records this and makes this to be heard by Chandru. Chandru and Aravindan go by their ways. Aravindan tries to convince Chandru but he falls from the top of a mountain. Chandru believes that Aravindan is dead and feels very much for him. But after 5 years later he comes to meet Aravindan's family. Only to find out that Aravindan is not dead, but has end up in coma. The cousin of him is now torturing his family a lot. When he comes to know that Chandru has comeback, he goes and starts to beat him up. After hearing his beloved friend Chandru's cry of pain, Aravindan gets his memory back. Aravindan beats up the cousin and they all rejoin and live happily.
Jyothika and Suvalakshmi were cast first as the heroines, but later the roles went to Devayani and Vijayalakshmi respectively.

Mani Nasry an exceptionally talented filmmaker, actor and artist with a sophisticated breadth of education, skills, experience, and professional accomplishments. He trained as an actor and director in New York with Salem Ludwig and with Donna DeMatteo for playwriting. For Mani, the decision to work in the film industry guided his academic decisions from an early age. He attended a Toronto high school renowned for excellence in the arts, and was accepted into one of the highly competitive film program at Ryerson university. It is notable that he went to Ryerson with an already well-established career in theatre, film, television and commercial work, and a range of multi-faceted achievements including producing, cinematography, casting, writing, directing, acting, and editing. On his own he added stints in New York and Los Angeles with leading acting teachers, as well as learning the grace and style of many forms of dance and athletics. With courses perceptively, he has also recognized the importance of acquiring an understanding of the business side of the industry, and the varied aspects of technology and production. There are some people clearly born to follow the path they have chosen from the start. Mani Nasry has the passion to succeed, the curiosity and ingenuity required to lead and collaborate in an industry known for its impact and appeal, and the strength of character and work ethic to immerse himself in finding and telling an unforgettable story.

I made it as part of a personal project. It is the conclusion to a private film history class I taught. I felt the best way to end the class was to evoke just a bit of the magic that the movies have brought to us.

“ In the documentary film What these ashes wanted Hoffman arranges the jagged bits of life he shared with writer Marian McMahon. Her early death in 1996 provoked this essay on mortality. Hoffman’s goal: “to illuminate the conditions of her death… the mystery of her life and the reason why, at the instant of her passage, I felt peace with her leaving… a feeling I no longer hold.” Using painterly swatches of sunflowers, hand-processed film, found sound recordings, the “antiseptic fictions” of doctors and other mortal icons, Hoffman takes us on journeys to London, Helsinki and Egypt. Pondering morbidity in its many forms, Hoffman discloses an early photographic assignment involving his deceased grand-father, a failed suicide, and his own personal numerology of death centering on the number seventeen. Through these and other memories, he develops a soul-searching vocabulary of love for one whose journey continues into the beyond. ‘If you had to make up your own ritual for death, what would it be? What these ashes wanted is not a story of surviving death, but rather, of living death through a heightening of the quotidian moments of every day experience. Without explanation, for now. Instead, let me oblige you to indulge in the fantasy of a moment of inscription: imagine Phil Hoffman darkly embunkered in his digital basement, bringing to fruition several years’ hard work on his cinematic response to Marian’s death, a task whose already formidable cargo is further laden by an apprehensive public, friends and colleagues (and critics?) poised in anticipation, festival spotlight in the offing, book in preparation; and there is a deadline! And now consider that upstairs the bright world teems - new loves, new job, new life abundant, loud, alive, living on, waiting for Phil to join in, to live there too.
Under these conditions, how is the work of mourning even possible? How possible is the making of the work mourning demands? How could one manage the intimacy required, or the courage, or the vulnerability, or the generosity? How could one avoid distraction, and I mean “being torn limb from limb.” How could one endure the thought of all the scrutiny about to ensue? To say that the task would be daunting is hardly adequate. It would have to be unbearable.
Fortunately, we’re only fantasizing.
Merely daunting is the present task (an altogether different sort of fantasy): what sort of address is possible toward a work so personal, so charged with grief, so apparently non-political as Hoffman’s What these ashes wanted, and how can it meet the demands of its venue, a magazine about cinema but also about action, whose name inscribes a certain militancy, a politics? How can one avoid the temptation to offer a respectful bromide, especially given the tragic loss out of which the film is built. Is it possible to wish to celebrate this filmmaker, his films, this film, and yet meet the work critically, engage it politically? I don’t know the answer to any of these questions.
The last time I wrote about Phil’s work, I employed the device of having an imaginary conversation take place as a sort of preface to the piece.[1] I think I was trying to be entertaining. In it, I used an expression that has wide currency among (mainly white) people in the deep south, where I was living at the time. It’s an instance of what my friend Neil Schmitz would call “confederate discourse.” I wrote: “I might could have a twin brother.” Not surprisingly, a copy editor figured that I’d neglected to delete either the might or the could, and so deleted one of them for me. When I got the edited copy, I wrote “Stet” in the margin, and appended an explanation of the usage.
So when the book came out, and the deletion remained unstetted (yup, that’s a word), I was hotter, as the Mobile gumbo-queens might say, than a black roux on a high flame. Editors were decried, publishers slandered. In retrospect, one sees how these things can happen, that nobody’s to blame. Pressure of deadline. Mere oversight. Might could happen this time, too. This was our very first digitally shot film and my first endeavors onto Final Cut Pro. Shot In London and Brighton in 2001, this marks 10 years of digital (as opposed to analogue) film making with my friends! it wasn't supposed to be anything fantastic, and i'd like to think we've improved immensely.

Took us a week to organise the various props (controllers, monitors. lighting, camera, etc.), two whole days to film and several days of postproduction.
It isn't perfect, but hopefully fun to watch nevertheless ,)

We're quite aware that we could have used more games or different games but we just wanted to show a small insight into the history of videogames that just shows how far we've come and where our roots are buried.
A small FAQ:
There are Playstation 1,2 and 3 devices, just pay close attention or read the credits =)
I noticed that many of you are missing the XBox and Halo on it. It was planned but my friend with the controller called me just before the day of the shooting and said he couldn't find it =( Sorry
Ecco and the dreamcast were mainly meant to show a flop in game history (please don't kill me for saying that =) ! If you have a different opinion on this one it's cool. We don't mean to insult anyone).
Why didn't we just cover...everything?!—due to the limited time that we had for this project it was hard enough to gather all controllers and output devices we used. And we're quite aware that it's not always the best possible combination of game pad and monitor =)
We didnt use XBox Kinect or Playstation Move because the technology isn't new.
And remember this is (almost) a one-shot (= no cuts used) => the more games/controllers, the harder it gets—one mistake and you can start over.
We captured a total of 45takes.

Done in a single-shot fashion...well almost single shot =)
The film covers different eras of the video-game history.
Took us a week to organise the various props (controllers, monitors. lighting, camera, etc.), two whole days to film and several days of postproduction.
It isn't perfect, but hopefully fun to watch nevertheless ,)

We're quite aware that we could have used more games or different games but we just wanted to show a small insight into the history of videogames that just shows how far we've come and where our roots are buried.
A small FAQ:
There are Playstation 1,2 and 3 devices, just pay close attention or read the credits =)
I noticed that many of you are missing the XBox and Halo on it. It was planned but my friend with the controller called me just before the day of the shooting and said he couldn't find it =( Sorry
Ecco and the dreamcast were mainly meant to show a flop in game history (please don't kill me for saying that =) ! If you have a different opinion on this one it's cool. We don't mean to insult anyone).
Why didn't we just cover...everything?!—due to the limited time that we had for this project it was hard enough to gather all controllers and output devices we used. And we're quite aware that it's not always the best possible combination of game pad and monitor =)
We didnt use XBox Kinect or Playstation Move because the technology isn't new.
And remember this is (almost) a one-shot (= no cuts used) => the more games/controllers, the harder it gets—one mistake and you can start over.
We captured a total of 45takes.

Video piece number 49. Made for the Vimeo Weekend Project "Pet Portrait" in 2013 instead of doing the housework in Inverness. For non commercial purposes only. After I made Waiting ( https://vimeo.com/m/55645079 ) late last year, I was eager to try this simple method of stick man animation again. I was really pleased with how Waiting ( https://vimeo.com/m/55645079 ) turned out and consider it to be one of my best short films. I wanted to enter this challenge but currently having no Pets meant that I couldn't make a conventional Pet Portrait. So I decided to quickly attempt something in the stick man style again. I drew everything in Adobe Photoshop, then imported all the separate layers into Adobe Aftereffects. I then dynamic linked into Adobe Premiere to finish it off. The whole process took about 4 hours (while watching Dr Who.) The music is from The Nine Inch Nails "Ghosts I-IV" album and this film is part of my ongoing project to make a short film for each of the 36 tracks on the album.

It was a simple and fun idea that I pitched in one breath. We began and completed filming the next day.
The seven minute movie project came together pretty quick. Short films can be so much fun. Taking on commercial and short film projects is always an enthusiastic "Yes!"
