In 3D computer graphics, 3D modeling (or modelling) is the process of developing a mathematical representation of any three-dimensional surface of an object (either inanimate or living) via specialized software. The product is called a 3D model. It can be displayed as a two-dimensional image through a process called 3D rendering or used in a computer simulation of physical phenomena. The model can also be physically created using 3D printing devices.
Models may be created automatically or manually. The manual modeling process of preparing geometric data for 3D computer graphics is similar to plastic arts such as sculpting.
3D modeling software is a class of 3D computer graphics software used to produce 3D models. Individual programs of this class are called modeling applications or modelers.
3D models represent a physical body using a collection of points in 3D space, connected by various geometric entities such as triangles, lines, curved surfaces, etc. Being a collection of data (points and other information), 3D models can be created by hand, algorithmically (procedural modeling), or scanned.
The Solar System is the gravitationally bound system comprising the Sun and the objects that orbit it, either directly or indirectly. Of those objects that orbit the Sun directly, the largest eight are the planets, with the remainder being significantly smaller objects, such as dwarf planets and small Solar System bodies. Of the objects that orbit the Sun indirectly, the moons, two are larger than the smallest planet, Mercury.
The Solar System formed 4.6 billion years ago from the gravitational collapse of a giant interstellar molecular cloud. The vast majority of the system's mass is in the Sun, with most of the remaining mass contained in Jupiter. The four smaller inner planets, Mercury, Venus, Earth and Mars, are terrestrial planets, being primarily composed of rock and metal. The four outer planets are giant planets, being substantially more massive than the terrestrials. The two largest, Jupiter and Saturn, are gas giants, being composed mainly of hydrogen and helium; the two outermost planets, Uranus and Neptune, are ice giants, being composed mostly of substances with relatively high melting points compared with hydrogen and helium, called ices, such as water, ammonia and methane. All planets have almost circular orbits that lie within a nearly flat disc called the ecliptic.

In this low poly model ( game ) full workflow tutorial I will show you how to create a low poly model, create a UV layout for the model, export the UV, create a layered texture in Photoshop and export it back to Maya to apply it to the model. In addition I will show you how to create and apply a bump map for the model. This is my 3d Modeling and texturing demoreel for the purpose of job-hunting. The description for each of my works is given below : 1- Lady in Saree :This work is modeled in Maya and textured using Photoshop. The entire model (including the clothes, props) is modeled in 14,875 polygons(i.e. without smooth mesh). However, I had rendered finally using smooth mesh. There are total of 36 texture maps consisting of diffuse(also for epidermal), subdermal, backscatter, specular, specular diffuse and bump for the skin shader and other props. For the hair, I had intended to use Maya hair, and Shave haircut, but it was very 'render expensive' and my computer was unable to handle it, so I used polygons. I had modeled the body in the T-position and later rigged it for position shown in the video. This...

http://www.triayaam.com/ Neitra 3D Pro is a 3D model reconstruction software which can convert photographs into high detailed 3D models. It generates "Watertight" (complete), "Smooth" (no spikes), "Optimized" (regular) and "Manifold" (no overlap) meshes. The size of facets (mesh and triangle) depends on quality of images as well resolution of images. High resolution & good quality of image is equivalent to high & useful information content respectively.
A fun way for children to learn about the Solar System is to let them experience creating their own model of the Solar System. This will help them internalize the facts, bring out their creativity and make memories that will last a lifetime.

A couple of years ago, I took a temp job assisting an architectural model builder. It was an intense experience - meticulously crafting delicate materials into structural works of art. I became fascinated with the craftsmanship and artistic ability that goes into this work. The advent of 3D printing - as exciting as it is - poses a problem for this art form. If a machine can spit out a 3D version of a building, is the era of model-making coming to an end? As an added bonus, you can also watch this video as an animated GIF: http://dylanreibling.com/wordpress/?page_id=744 Premiered: Toronto International Film Festival 2012

Pixar’s "Monsters University" is coming to theaters this month and everyone has giant eyeballs on their minds. In this intermediate/advanced tutorial I walk you through the steps of building and texturing a floating eyeball in Cinema 4D r14 Studio using nothing but lighting and textures created entirely within C4D with zero plugins. This one gets fairly complex with layer stacks and masks, so you might want to get out your notepads and hover over the pause button. Also worth mentioning; it was too involved for the length of the tutorial, but you can try to copy and paste the blood vessel channel into the displacement channel of the material editor and add sub-poly displacement so the veins bulge off the surface of the sclera. I did this effect for the thumbnail image. I tried to paste it ...
This is a preview of Musca Domestica or housefly 3d model for Cinema 4d. Walk and fly animations are made with awesome CMotion objects, included in model hierarchy. It is possible to specify any path and surface for CMotion so the Housefly will walk on it or fly along just in a couple of clicks. Animation can be tweaked easily - timing, amplitude, phase offsets etc Model is avalaible here: https://www.cgtrader.com/3d-models/animals/insect/rigged-and-animated-housefly-for-cinema-4d Feel free to contact me if you have any questions.
In order to explore the current limits of 3D printing technology, I've created a program for converting digital audio into a 3D model of a record and printed some functional prototypes that play on ordinary record players. The audio on the records is very low resolution, it has a sampling rate of 11kHz (a quarter of typical mp3 audio) and 5-6bit resolution (less than one thousandth of the resolution of typical 16 bit audio), but the result is easily recognizable. Find my Processing code, 3D model downloads, photos, and a detailed discussion of the design process on Instructables: http://www.instructables.com/id/3D-Printed-Record/

It’s not a secret we love robots here at BLR, so we wanted them to be the heroes in our latest promo clip. Luxury cars with powerful engines to drive through roads under severe speed restrictions, cable TV that allows us to pay to watch all kind of sports, all from our comfortable sofa, and of course, hyper expensive cell phones that do almost everything but making a decent phone call. Yes, our happiness is based on things we don’t need and governed by entities we don’t control, so what? Sit down and turn on the tv! The robots were taken from real Japanese robot model kits, and they now hold a privileged position in our freak museum. The bad guy spits real smoke out of its mouth! The environment is made of cardboard houses that were integrated with the help of camera tweaks. It all serve...
