Da Grande

"Da Grande" is first single from Alexia's second hits compilation album Da Grande and was released on CD in 2005 (Sony Code 675758). The CD contained two tracks, with the second track being the international English version of "Dimmi Come", "Don't You Know", that saw a release in some territories outside Italy in 2002. It was the first Alexia release not to feature her on the cover.

The song was performed at the 2005 Sanremo Festival, where it came second in the women's category. Upon its release, the single entered the Italian charts at number 18.

The title translates as "From Large", with Alexia singing how her great love will surprise a man, making his dreams come true.

Music video

A videoclip was filmed for the single, the first time since 2003's "Egoista" and this would be the last video Alexia would film until 2008's "Grande Coraggio". The video features a giant Alexia walking and dancing round a city.

Da grande is one of the coming-of-age comedies that were released in the late 1980s, and was the inspiration to Big, the 1988 international blockbuster directed by Penny Marshall and starring Tom Hanks.

Plot

Eight-year-old Marco Marinelli is a bedwetter, scolded by his mother (Ottavia Piccolo) and teased by his classmates. On his birthday he finds out that his father (Alessandro Haber), who is facing economic difficulties, hasn't brought him the Lego he was promised. He runs in tears to his room and puts all his heart into wishing he were big and not subject to these indignities. As a result, he bursts through his clothes in the guise of a forty-year-old man (Renato Pozzetto) and seeks refuge in the house of his schoolteacher (Giulia Boschi), who he's secretly in love with. Mentally, he is still eight years old, and it's a puzzle what to do with him, until someone discovers that he has an uncanny rapport with children. Then he becomes a full-time and highly requested babysitter, but shortly after he is suspected of abducting the by-now long-missing child Marco. He then runs out of money, and fakes the kidnapping of himself, but while chased by the police he eventually turns back into the eight-year-old boy.

Da Grande (album)

Da Grande is the third compilation album and second greatest hits release by Italian singer Alexia released in 2005. The album spans all her Italian language singles from 2002 to 2005. Two new tracks were included on the album; "Da Grande" and "Mai Dire Mai" with the former being released as a single and the latter as a radio promo single.

Three album tracks are included; "Un Cuore Non Hai" from her Il Cuore A Modo Mio album, "Quello Che Sento" and "Funky Al Cuore" from her Gli Occhi Grandi Della Luna album. Both of the latter tracks would be included on both of Sony's budget Alexia compilations Le Piu' Belle Di and Collections.

Three bonus tracks were included; the English version's of Dimmi Come (Don't You Know) and Come Tu Mi Vuoi (You Need Love) along with her 2001 single Money Honey. Thus, the album could be said to be a compilation of her hits from 2001 to 2005, with the exception of the single Summerlovers.

Release

The album was released on CD through Epic (Sony Code 519752) and would be the final album of hers to be released by Sony.
