Visakhapatnam

Visakhapatnam (nicknamed Vizag) is the largest city, both in terms of area and population in the Indian state of Andhra Pradesh. It is located on the coast of Bay of Bengal in the north eastern region of the state. It is the administrative headquarters of Visakhapatnam district and also the Financial Capital of Andhra Pradesh.As of 2011, the population of the city was recorded as 2,035,922, making it the 14th largest city in the country.

Visakhapatnam's economy ranks as the tenth-largest among Indian cities, with a GDP of $26 Billion (USD). Visakhapatnam is the principal commercial hub of the state, and contributes to its economy in many sectors such as heavy industries, tourism, industrial minerals, fishing, and information technology. Visakhapatnam Port is the fifth busiest port in India in terms of cargo handled. The city serves as the headquarters for Eastern Naval Command of the Indian Navy and is home to the oldest shipyard and the only natural harbour on the east coast of India.

Wii Menu

The Wii Menu (known internally as the System Menu) is the graphical shell of the Wii game console, as part of the Wii system software. It has four pages, each with a 4:3 grid, and each displaying the current time and date. Available applications, known as "channels", are displayed and can be navigated using the pointer capability of the Wii Remote. The grid is customizable; users can move channels (except for the Disc Channel) amongst the menu's 47 customizable slots by pressing and holding the A and B button while hovering over the channel the user wants to move. By pressing the plus and minus buttons on the Wii Remote users can scroll across accessing empty slots.

Homebrew Channel

The Homebrew Channel, commonly abbreviated as HBC, is a freeware homebrew application loader that was developed to provide a way of easily running unofficial software on the Wii console. Once installed, it appears as a standard Wii Channel on the Wii Menu. When launched, it displays a list of applications found on an SD card or a USB drive. The user then can control and select an application to launch by using a Wii Remote or the GameCube controller. It also accepts application uploads via a USB Gecko or TCP/IP (over Wi-Fi or Ethernet), which allows for quick application testing during development. When first launched from the Wii Menu, the Homebrew Channel will check for updates to itself and automatically download them if the user chooses to do so.

Kalyana Mandapam

Kalyana Mandapam (Telugu: కళ్యాణ మండపం) is a 1971 Telugu-language film starring Sobhan Babu, Kanchana, Kongara Jaggaiah, Anjali, Gummadi and others. The film was distributed by Anjali Pictures and directed by V. Madhusudhan Rao.

This movie is a remake of the national award winning Kannada film Gejje Pooje directed by Puttanna Kanagal in 1969.

This film deals with the Devadasi tradition prevalent in Zamindari Andhra culture and deals with the dream of a young Devadasi girl wanting to get married to her childhood lover. But circumstances push her into being a temple dancer towards the end of the movie, culminating in her death. Kanchana plays the role of the Devadasi girl and gives a stunning performance. Viewers empathise with the character throughout.

Music is by P. Adinarayana Rao. Renditions by S.P. Balasubramaniam and P. Susheela of Pilichevaruntey palikenu nenu, Saregama padanisa, Chukkalu paade subha manthram are memorable.

Andhra Pradesh

Andhra Pradesh (/ˌɑːndrə prəˈdɛʃ/)( pronunciation ) is one of the 29 states of India, situated on the southeastern coast of the country. The state is the eighth largest state in India covering an area of 160,205 km² (61,855 sq mi). As per 2011 census of India, the state is tenth largest by population with 49,386,799 inhabitants. On 2 June 2014, the north-western portion of the state was bifurcated to form a new state of Telangana. In accordance with the Andhra Pradesh Reorganisation Act, 2014, Hyderabad will remain the de jure capital of both Andhra Pradesh and Telangana states for a period of time not exceeding 10 years. The new river-front proposed capital in Guntur district is Amaravati, which is under the jurisdiction of APCRDA. Economically, the Gross State Domestic Product (GSDP) of Andhra Pradesh at today's prices stood at ₹2359.3 billion (US$35 billion) and the Gross State Domestic Product at the prices for the 2013 financial year were ₹4193.91 billion (US$62 billion). The average income of the state rose 62.6% from ₹25,959 (US$380) (2004–05) to ₹42,186 (US$620) (2012-13).

Visakhapatnam Airport

Visakhapatnam Airport (IATA: VTZ, ICAO: VOVZ) is a customs airport located in Visakhapatnam, India. It is the largest and busiest airport in the state of Andhra Pradesh. It is approximately 12 km (7.5 mi) from Visakhapatnam and operates as a civil enclave on an Indian Navy airfield named INS DEGA. The airport has experienced significant growth in the last decade, with the construction of a new terminal and runway and commencing of international flights to Dubai, Singapore and Kuala Lumpur–International.

History

In 1999, the airport commenced civilian operations with one flight per day. The original runway was 6,000 ft (1,800 m) long and a new 10,500 ft (3,200 m)-long and 60 m (200 ft)-wide runway was inaugurated on 15 June 2007 to accommodate medium-sized and wide body aircraft. With the installation and calibration of the instrument landing system, the airport got night landing facilities in July 2007, with the inaugural flight of Dornier operated by Indian Navy. The night landing facility became operational from 30 March 2008 for commercial airlines. A new terminal building was inaugurated on 20 February 2009 and became operational on 27 March 2009.
