Sierra Leone (i/sɪˈɛərə lɪˈoʊni, -lɪˈoʊn/), officially the Republic of Sierra Leone, is a country in West Africa. It is bordered by Guinea on the north, Liberia in the south-east, and the Atlantic Ocean in the south-west. Sierra Leone has a tropical climate, with a diverse environment ranging from savannah to rainforests. Sierra Leone has a total area of 71,740 km2 (27,699 sq mi) and an estimated population of 6 million (2011 United Nations estimate).Freetown is the capital, largest city, and its economic and political centre. Bo is the second largest city. The other major cities in the country with a population above 100,000 are Kenema, Makeni and Koidu Town. Sierra Leone is divided into four geographical regions: the Northern Province, Eastern Province, Southern Province and the Western Area, which are further divided into fourteen districts.
About sixteen ethnic groups inhabit Sierra Leone, each with their own language and customs. The two largest and most influential are the Temne and the Mende people. The Temne are predominantly found in the north of the country, while the Mende are predominant in the south-east. Although English is the official language spoken at schools and government administration, the Krio language is the most widely spoken language in the country and unites all the different ethnic groups in the country, especially in their trade and social interaction with each other.
Bo also commonly referred to as Bo Town, is the second largest city in Sierra Leone (after Freetown) and the largest city in the Southern Province. The city serves as the capital and administrative center of Bo District in the Southern Province. Bo is an urban center, and lies approximately 160 miles (250 km) south-east of Freetown. After Freetown, Bo is the leading financial, educational, commercial and urban center of Sierra Leone. Bo is the biggest commercial center in the South-Eastern region of Sierra Leone.
The city of Bo is one of Sierra Leone's six municipalities and is locally governed by a directly elected Bo City Council, headed by a mayor and members of the Bo City Council. The municipality of Bo had a population based on the 2010 estimate of 215,474, and current estimates of approximately 306,000.
The city is the primary home of Njala University, the second largest university in Sierra Leone, after the Fourah Bay College. Bo is also home to the Bo Government Secondary School, commonly known as Bo School, which is one of the biggest and most prominent secondary schools in West Africa. The school has a history of producing some of Sierra Leone's most gifted students. The city is home to the Bo Stadium, the second largest stadium in Sierra Leone, and is mostly used for football matches
Sierra (Spanish for mountain range and saw, from Latin serra) can refer to:
Foday Saybana Sankoh (17 October 1937 – 29 July 2003) was the leader and founder of the Sierra Leone rebel group Revolutionary United Front (RUF) in the 11-year-long Sierra Leone Civil War, starting in 1991 and ending in 2002. An estimated 50,000 people were killed during the war, and over 500,000 people were displaced in neighbouring countries.
Foday Sankoh was born on 17 October 1937, in the remote village of Masang Mayoso, Tonkolili District in the Northern Province of Sierra Leone to an ethnic Temne father and a Loko mother. Sankoh was the son of a farmer.
Sankoh attended primary and secondary school in Magburaka, Tonkolili District and took on a number of jobs in Magburaka before he joined the Sierra Leone army in 1956. He undertook training in Nigeria and the United Kingdom. In 1971, then a corporal in the Sierra Leone army, he was cashiered from the army's signal corps and imprisoned for seven years at the Pademba Road Prison in Freetown for taking part in a mutiny.

English/Nat XFA Secretary-General Kofi Annan has hinted that the hostage-taking by Sierra Leone's Revolutionary United Front (R-U-F) could cost leader Foday Sankoh his ministerial post. He said the rebels must not be allowed to exploit the country's diamonds. Bo, a town partially sieged by rebel forces, is one of Sierra Leone's major diamond centres. Meanwhile, a group of R-U-F rebels have been arrested for allegedly tying to steal one of the United Nation's vehicles. Bo, Sierra Leone's second biggest city is a government stronghold. It's also a major diamond centre. And it's these diamonds which have fueled a decade of brutal civil war, which has claimed 75-thousand lives. The Revolutionary United Front (R-U-F) controls most of the mines in western Sierra Leone. ...

YEHNIIVA: IN HONOR OF MOTHERS, edited by Susan L.Yung, has a brief description of Sierra Leone's history, its recent civil war in Africa, and presently its reconstruction to provide funding to five villages as sponsored by Beatrice Moigula. Sierra Leone had recently ended a ten-year civil war, which involved young children forced to kill by a tyrannical leader. Presently, this West African nation is rebuilding the destruction incurred by the civil war and providing rehabilitation for these children. This Part 2 video focuses on Beatrice Moigula returning to Sierra Leone after a 15 year hiatus abroad to organize a home base for Yehniiva: In Honor of Mothers and develop micro credit programs to five ravaged villages in Bo County. It shows her attending a Catholic Mass commemorating her late...
