Four divers in a breakaway diving bell end up trapped underwater in a vast series of caverns. They explore their environment trying to find a way to the surface, but their path is blocked by an underground volcano. It is this cavern-world with its many stalactites and stalagmites that give this movie it's name.
Four adventurers descend to the depths of the ocean when the cable on their underwater diving bell snaps. The rest of their expedition, believing them to be lost, abandons hope of finding them. Exiting the diving bell, the party finds themselves in a network of underwater caverns. They encounter a shipwreck survivor. He tells them he has been there for 14 years and that there is no way out. The two men in the exploring party believe him only after a hike to a volcanic vent that supplies the caverns with oxygen. On the surface, Prof. Millard Wyman, the elder scientist who designed the original diving bell, decides to try again to explore the depths of the ocean. He finds out that there is another diving bell in existence that is identical to the one that was lost.

While many people associate science fiction with Star Wars and the Star Trek reboot- today I thought I would make a video focusing on the less well known Hard science fiction. This is a category of sc-ifi characterised by an emphasis on scientific accuracy, rather than action & explosions. Mind you that doesn’t mean Hard Sci-fi doesn’t have its fair share of drama. - it does like to focus on the real world, but from the perspective of beyond the status quo.

Jack shrYE-er’s comedy Robot & Frank - Set in the near future, a retired jewel thief has two grown children who are concerned he can no longer live alone. Instead of a nursing home Franks son buys him a robot butler programmed to look after him. But Frank soon learns that this new companion could become a useful aide. This movie is all about the characters, staying fun the whole way throughout. Where Frank Langella is great playing Frank - who tries to restart his old profession, and of course Peter Sarsgaard who's voice acting fits the robot perfectly.
The Martian Directed by Riddly Scott is based on the novel of the same name by Andy Weir. - During a manned mission to Mars, Matt Damon's character Astronaut Mark Watney becomes stranded after a fierce storm and is presumed dead. But Watney somehow survives - and with only a minor amount of supplies, must rely on his ingenuity, to find a way to signal to Earth, that he’s still alive.
Alex Garlands stylish directional debut - Ex Machina stars Domhnall Gleeson as Caleb Smith, a young programmer at internet-search giant BlueBook. Who is selected to participate in a ground-breaking experiment in synthetic intelligence at the estate of the company's CEO, Nathan Bateman played by Oscar Isaac. Alicia Vikander's performance as Ava the beautiful and seductive android is so good, that I almost forgot she wasn't an AI.
The Andromeda strain- directed by Robert Wise is based on Michael Kriton Crichton's novel of the same name.

"Surface" was a short lived TV series that aired on NBC in 2005/2006. It was part of the wave of "decompressed" or "slow burn" TV series that came into existence, trying to copy the popularity of "Lost" and "24". It didn't last past one season. Anyway, I found the pilot episode on an old VHS tape and decided to upload a commercial break, to share the feel of the channel from this time period.

Jay Rowland Ferguson, Jr. (born July 25, 1974) is an American actor.
Biography
Ferguson was born in Dallas, Texas.
In 1989, Jay was plucked from obscurity to play Ponyboy Curtis in the television adaptation of S. E. Hinton's novel The Outsiders. Over the last 22 years, he has appeared in television and film. His notable television roles include Taylor Newton in four seasons of the CBS sitcom Evening Shade, Dr. Todd Hooper on Judging Amy, Rich Connelly in the 2005 NBC television series Surface, Agent Warren Russell on the Showtime series Sleeper Cell and most recently Stan Rizzo on the AMC series Mad Men. His film roles include Billy in Higher Learning, Elmer Conway in The Killer Inside Me, and Keith Clayton in The Lucky One.

Carter Jenkins
Carter Mark Jenkins (born September 4, 1991) is an American actor. He is best known for his roles in the films Aliens in the Attic (2009), Valentine's Day (2010), and Struck by Lightning (2012). On television, Jenkins was part of the main cast of Surface (2005–06) and Viva Laughlin (2007).
Early life
Jenkins was born in Tampa, Florida to Mary and Eric Jenkins, and was raised in Carrollwood, Florida, where he attended Independent Day School. His family later moved to Sherman Oaks, California. He has an older brother, Renneker Jenkins, who is also an actor, and an older sister, Tiffany. Like his character in Keeping Up with the Steins, Jenkins was raised Jewish, and attended Hebrew school.
Career
Jenkins began performing in community theatre, and then on local and national commercials. He played lead roles in the television series Surface (2005–06) and Viva Laughlin (2007), and guest starred in episodes of CSI: Miami, House, CSI: NY, Without a Trace, The Bernie Mac Show, and Unfabulous. He has also starred in feature films such as Bad News Bears and Keeping Up with the Steins, and starred in the television film Life Is Ruff.

Leighton Meester
Leighton Marissa Meester (born April 9, 1986) is an American actress and singer. She is mostly known for her starring role as Blair Waldorf in the teen drama series Gossip Girl (2007–12). She has also appeared in the 2010 country drama film Country Strong, the 2011 thriller The Roommate, the 2011 romantic-comedy Monte Carlo, and the comedies The Oranges (2011) and That's My Boy (2012). Meester made her Broadway debut in 2014 in Of Mice and Men.
In addition to her acting career, Meester has also ventured into music. In 2009, she was featured on Cobra Starship's "Good Girls Go Bad" and released her first single "Somebody to Love" with Universal Republic. Her second single "Your Love's a Drug" was released in 2011. Meester also recorded songs for various soundtracks. Her debut album, Heartstrings was independently released in 2014.
Early life
Meester was born in Fort Worth, Texas, to Constance (née Haas) and Douglas Meester, and lived most of her life in New York City and Los Angeles. Her ancestry includes German, Dutch, English, Irish, Scottish, and Welsh. At the time of her birth, her mother was serving time in a federal prison for her involvement in a drug ring that smuggled marijuana from Jamaica to the USA. She was able to give birth to Leighton in a hospital and nurse her for three months in a halfway house, before returning to prison to complete her sentence, after which Leighton's grandmother cared for her. She has a brother, Alexander, who is eight years younger. Meester has maintained that her parents gave her a normal upbringing and, despite their criminal past, "It made me realize that you can't judge anyone—especially your parents—for what they've done in their past, because people change." In 2011, Leighton was involved in a lawsuit with her mother. Meester has joked, "Look, I could've turned out a lot worse." She has cited her mother as her style icon. Her father works for an internet company and her mother is a writer.

Surface (TV series)
Surface is an American science fiction television series that premiered on NBC on September 19, 2005. The program aired ten episodes before going on hiatus on November 28, 2005 due to NBC's coverage of the 2006 Winter Olympics. It returned for five more episodes, beginning January 2, 2006. On May 15, 2006, NBC officially announced the series' cancellation. The show, while not critically acclaimed due to its short run, has since been praised as a great and 'phenomenal' show that was not able to reach its full potential.
Synopsis
During a routine submersible dive in the North Pacific Ocean, California oceanographer Laura Daughtery (Lake Bell) is attacked by an unknown life-form that appears out of a field of craters on the ocean's floor. Miles Barnett (Carter Jenkins), a North Carolina teenager, finds himself face to face with the strange sea creature after falling off his wakeboard during a nighttime outing with his friends. Meanwhile, Richard Connelly (Jay R. Ferguson), a Louisiana man on a fishing trip, loses his brother in a suspicious diving accident when a creature drags him to the depths of the Gulf of Mexico.

Lake Bell
Lake Siegel Bell (born March 24, 1979) is an American actress, writer, and director.
She has starred in the television series Boston Legal (2004–06), Surface (2005–06), How to Make It in America (2010–11) and Childrens Hospital (2008–present) and in the films Over Her Dead Body (2008), What Happens in Vegas (2008), It's Complicated (2009), No Strings Attached (2011) and Million Dollar Arm (2014), Man Up (2015).
She wrote and directed the short film Worst Enemy, which debuted at the Sundance Film Festival in 2012, followed by her 2013 feature film directing debut In a World..., in which she also starred.
Early life
Bell was born in New York City. Her mother, Robin Bell, owns the design firm Robin Bell Design in New York. Her father is real estate developer Harvey Siegel, who bought the then-closed Virginia International Raceway and converted it into a racetrack country club, and who owned New Jersey Motorsports Park.
Bell's father is Jewish and her mother is Protestant. Bell has stated that she was raised in a "comically dysfunctional family."

Jodie foster playing Dr Arroway is exceptional where she delivers a character with high intellect and strong feelings alongside an impressive script and supporting cast. -

NBC "Surface" Episode 1 Commercial Break - September 19th, 2005
"Surface" was a short lived TV series that aired on NBC in 2005/2006. It was part of the wave of "decompressed" or "slow burn" TV series that came into existence, trying to copy the popularity of "Lost" and "24". It didn't last past one season. Anyway, I found the pilot episode on an old VHS tape and decided to upload a commercial break, to share the feel of the channel from this time period. Included here: 1. FATHER TOMAS ORTEGA (Alfonso Herrera, “Sense8,” “The Chosen”) is the new face of the Catholic Church: progressive, ambitious and compassionate. He runs a small but loyal parish in the suburbs of Chicago. He has no idea that his quiet life is about to change forever. Meanwhile, on the other side of the world, another priest finds himself locked in a life-and-death struggle with evil. FATHER MARCUS BRENNAN (Ben Daniels, “Flesh and Bone,” “House of Cards”) is a modern-day Templar Knight, an orphan raised since childhood by the Vatican to wage war against its enemies. Father Marcus is everything Father Tomas is not: relentless, abrasive and utterly consumed by his sacred mission. Caught in the middle is the RANCE family, members of Tomas’ parish. On the surface, they’re a normal, suburban family, but all is not as it seems in this household. The patriarch, HENRY RANCE (guest star Alan Ruck, “Spin City,” “Ferris Bueller’s Day Off”), is slowly but surely losing his mind. Eldest daughter KATHERINE (Brianne Howey, SCREAM QUEENS) has become a recluse who refuses to leave her room. Four divers in a breakaway diving bell end up trapped underwater in a vast series of caverns. They explore their environment trying to find a way to the surface, but their path is blocked by an underground volcano. It is this cavern-world with its many stalactites and stalagmites that give this movie it's name.
Four adventurers descend to the depths of the ocean when the cable on their underwater diving bell snaps. The rest of their expedition, believing them to be lost, abandons hope of finding them. Exiting the diving bell, the party finds themselves in a network of underwater caverns. They encounter a shipwreck survivor. He tells them he has been there for 14 years and that there is no way out. The two men in the exploring party believe him only after a hike to a volcanic vent that supplies the caverns with oxygen. On the surface, Prof. Millard Wyman, the elder scientist who designed the original diving bell, decides to try again to explore the depths of the ocean. He finds out that there is another diving bell in existence that is identical to the one that was lost.

While many people associate science fiction with Star Wars and the Star Trek reboot- today I thought I would make a video focusing on the less well known Hard science fiction. This is a category of sc-ifi characterised by an emphasis on scientific accuracy, rather than action & explosions. Mind you that doesn’t mean Hard Sci-fi doesn’t have its fair share of drama. - it does like to focus on the real world, but from the perspective of beyond the status quo.

Stanley Kubrick’s mind-bending epic - 2001: A Space Odyssey.
Set in two specific time periods, one preistoric, one futuristic-The film focus on humanitys discovery of a mysterious artificial object buried beneath the moon surface. When the point of origin is confirmed as Jupiter, an expedition is sent in hopes of finding the source of this mysterious object.
Jack shrYE-er’s comedy Robot & Frank - Set in the near future, a retired jewel thief has two grown children who are concerned he can no longer live alone. Instead of a nursing home Franks son buys him a robot butler programmed to look after him. But Frank soon learns that this new companion could become a useful aide. This movie is all about the characters, staying fun the whole way throughout. Where Frank Langella is great playing Frank - who tries to restart his old profession, and of course Peter Sarsgaard who's voice acting fits the robot perfectly.
The Martian Directed by Riddly Scott is based on the novel of the same name by Andy Weir. - During a manned mission to Mars, Matt Damon's character Astronaut Mark Watney becomes stranded after a fierce storm and is presumed dead. But Watney somehow survives - and with only a minor amount of supplies, must rely on his ingenuity, to find a way to signal to Earth, that he’s still alive.
Alex Garlands stylish directional debut - Ex Machina stars Domhnall Gleeson as Caleb Smith, a young programmer at internet-search giant BlueBook. Who is selected to participate in a ground-breaking experiment in synthetic intelligence at the estate of the company's CEO, Nathan Bateman played by Oscar Isaac. Alicia Vikander's performance as Ava the beautiful and seductive android is so good, that I almost forgot she wasn't an AI.
The Andromeda strain- directed by Robert Wise is based on Michael Kriton Crichton's novel of the same name.
-After the people of a small Arizona town are wiped out by some form of unknown contagion emitted from a crashed satellite. The American government forms a team of scientists to eliminate this threat before it spreads nationwide.
Contact directed by Robert Zameckis – is a faithul adaptation of Carl Sagan’s novel of the same name-
- Where Astronomer Dr. Ellie Arroway, has long been interested in contact to faraway lands. After years of searching, and being mocked by the science community she finds conclusive radio proof of intelligent life, who send her team a mysterious plan to build a large machine. Jodie foster playing Dr Arroway is exceptional where she delivers a character with high intellect and strong feelings alongside an impressive script and supporting cast.

"Surface" was a short lived TV series that aired on NBC in 2005/2006. It was part of the wave of "decompressed" or "slow burn" TV series that came into existence, trying to copy the popularity of "Lost" and "24". It didn't last past one season. Anyway, I found the pilot episode on an old VHS tape and decided to upload a commercial break, to share the feel of the channel from this time period.

I spoke with Jay R. Ferguson (Pat O’Neal) on the second season red carpet for The Real O’Neals at the Paley Center panel discussion about playing a great dad and how the show touches their fans.
Spend National Coming Out Day with the season premier of The Real O’Neals on ABC 9:30pm (new time/night)! I’m very excited about this return of the hilarious series that is a slice of life for a loving Catholic family in Chicago navigating accepting their gay son. When the series premiered last year on ABC it was groundbreaking to tell the story of a kid coming out to his conservative family. What could have been a heavy slog instead was so adeptly written that the heaviest subject matter would get you laughing and than thinking. I had the opportunity to speak with the cast and executive producers at the Paley Center for Media in Beverly Hills. We talked about how the series allowed people to get to know a gay kid, how it touches the lives of LGBT kids and adults and working on the ABC comedy.
